The Roman Catholic blaspemous images of Jesus, are just that, blasphemous. The long haired image is at odds with Jewish tradition of short hair for men. @luettem- I think that maybe you should re-evaluate how you have interpreted what is written in the bible! In actuality it only states that his hair was pulled/yanked never saying his beard was completely ripped out.The image on the Shroud definately shows part of the beard missing.As for the face being recognizable or not; that again is completely up to interpretation.The face image is obviously quite beaten and was most likely covered in blood and dirt at one time making it unrecognizable.
