halo might not have brought any new ideas to gaming, but it has been a revolutionary series. the way it combines great gameplay, a good story, and awesome multiplayer, makes it unique to any other game.

You want a revolutionary shooter? Try Goldeneye for the N64. That game and its developers managed to bring FPS games on consoles from a laughably pathetic idea into a sound and common practice. It is because of that game that console shooters are as popular as they are now, not only FPS games, but also TPS. That includes Halo, GTA (from 3 and onwards), Gears of War, Killzone, Time Splitters and the console versions of Call of Duty and Modern Warfare. That is revolutionary. Halo is not.

Moving on though, Halo wasn't revolutionary as a game, but it was revolutionary in terms of popularity and, therefore, in terms of marketing. It didn't do anything revolutionary gameplay wise. We had aliens, space marines, regenerating health and vehicle-oriented combat sections long before it arrived. If I'm wrong, what did it revolutionize specifically? Don't get me wrong, I play it, but it's still not revolutionary.

@ SeanStrife The reason is simple: fanboys. While there are legitimately good points about Halo, mostly with regards to execution, there are also legitimately neutral and occasionally bad points as well. Mentioning either of these latter categories will immediately get you hated by most people with an XBox somewhere in their house. To them, any points I had about Goldeneye 64 are immediately nullified by my straight-talking about Halo.

@TNSFE See, the sad thing is... I have an XBox 360 with Halo downloaded onto the hard drive, on top of I played Halo 3. Halo is average at best. I'd buy Halo 3 if it was, like, 20 bucks. It's not worth the obscene price tag it has for a game of such average quality.

Most titles that are worth noting usually come out at about the same price (average or otherwise,) unless it was a small/unknown indie developer or something. And you've got to remember that about $10 goes towards licensing fees for the system, which is why Playstation and XBox titles are typically more expensive than, say, PC games. But yeah, I'll agree with your decision. Overpriced? No... but I wouldn't buy it anyway, either.

@Blade666324: There seems to be a few messages. I think one of the primary things is to question the motives of others and to think for yourself. The reason that the game's protagonist joined the military was because he believed the false and hate mongering propaganda that his government was spewing. He believed them and followed orders without question, and it turned out that the war that his government was waging was not the righteous crusade of liberation that it seemed to be at first.
