My Swiss husband use to play this sport in use youth and showed great talent until he had a major problem resulting in back surgery at age 16 years....
Gee whiz, maybe it is a cognate form of wrestling that is shared amongst all Germania? Its not much different from traditional forms of English wrestling either.
i don't know about you dude but around here WE FUCKING TRY TO GET QUALITY ON A FUCKING VIDEO, who the hell do you think you are putting audio like this before the world.Imagine all the young and upcoming youtubers who will see this video and think '' hey ......it's ok , yeah.......it's fine to show crappy quality to others yeah no big deal''. Well I Say no sir, how dare you and may all who have viewed have mercy on your comment box.
I've been in Judo, Catch and Scottish Back wrestling for well over 15 years, done some schwingen too, its carry over to other combat sports isn't good, the lack of a belt/shorts to grab makes it less effective in MMA or submission grappling matches.
I do grappling and BJJ but this is another world than schwingen! You can't compare it. In the Schwingen at least one guy has to have at least one hand at the trousers (or the leather belt of the trousers) otherwise they have to go to startposition again. If you touch the ground with your back or with both scapulas you lose (also if it's just for a half a second). By the way there are no weight classes and they do have damn much power in theyr arms and hands (from always having grip on the
trousers and lifting the bullocks) It's a dangerous sport, it happens several time that someone get his back or his neck brocken. The most guys are verry heavy and throws like suplex are allowed.
For my selfe I prefere sports like BJJ, Grappling, Wrestling or Judo but I also respect Schwinger (Schwinger-Kas :D)
i am a judo practioner. i am interested in wrestling mainly because of the grapling that goes on. are you allowed to do judo throws in wrestling? i mean what is the objective in wrestling? can i use a judo throw to get my opponent down?
well, there are many throws that are similar in folk style and free style wrestling that are in judo, but many judo techniques wouldnt work in a wrestling match seeing as how you wrestle in a singlet most of the time and you dont have a thick collar or a thck gi sleeve to grab on to when doing throws..... but hey, if you know some throws that work given those conditions then go for it!
trust me any good judoka would tell you that in a grapling match like that all they would need is to get a hold one of their opponent's arm and be able to put an arm around their waist and the rest is history. many people also thought that judo wouldn't work in mma because of the gi factor but after seeing Karo perisian throw guys around in the UFC many changed their minds. anyway, i appreciate your response thanx.
well, ive done some years of folk style, free style, and ive studied a little bit of judo, and i just think think the sports are just different, and i never said that no techniques would work, i said allot of them wouldnt work and i know that it can still be applied in mma. but if you watch a folk style wrestling match and a judo match you will notice that they are completely different, the stance, the rules, everything accept some techniques. and yes, karo perisian rules...lol
yeah, you make some valid points. but what i wanted to know is weather a judo guy would be at a disadvantage in a wrestling match considering that the objective of the sport is to put your opponent on his/her back. (i am assuming that's the objective in wrestling) but i am glad you're in tune with the karo perisians of the world. lol
if your real question is weather you would be at a disadvantage or not, my answer would be no, but you have to realize that there are different rules and the stances that are practiced make it difficult to say, land a flying armbar. but allot of the foot work and take down defense is almost identicle in the two sports.
long story short, your at no disadvantage but you still have to learn how to wrestle and how your opponents utilize their techniques and how to counter them. karo forever!!!
let me answer in another way, what your asking is somthing similar to a physics major asking if he would be at any disadvantage in calculus class. my same answer would be no, infact, you may have some advantages in some areas of grappling that a wrestler wouldnt have as a physics student would have over calc students, yet you still need to learn how to wrestle and what its about, as would a physics student learning calculus. many same principals and techniques, just different application.
nothing better than pants wrestling lol :P

Interesting video. Fail on the audio sync. Lots of talking and discussion going on, but no sound for most of the last half of the vid.
