  • Thanks.. great vid.. good to see a decently filmed road test of each app!

Now to decide which one is best :S

  • Buckle your seatbelt!!!! is this a toyota camry or avalon?

  • navigon is really good, I'm using it. Tomtom looks nicer than the others. I would like to try it too

  • Erh... SO WHICH ONE WAS THE BEST?

  • @vnano i think tomtom

  • I love how Sygic glitches at turns :D

  • Hi, could you tell me the name and the brand of that iPhone windshield holder?

  • Hey no mention of the Navigons pop up saying,"GPS recetion is currently not sufficient". Yeah, It has yet to be sufficient even once. I tried itunes who takes your complaint and then says, we heard ya, call Navigon. ..... in Germany.... and explain to them. I have a 90$ version of mapquest essentially. Lame. Don't believe the hype, none of these apps are ready for market. They are suckering those who jump in first.... like usual. I got hosed.

  • Actually you can if you get the iGPS360 module from Orange gadgets. You need a jailbroken iPod to use it, though.

  • can you get this 4 the ipod touch? if so that is cool

  • nope it would be use less

  • tom tom looked like the best one

  • Do you think he is distracted?

  • he wears glasses normaly u can tell

  • does this work with the touch and if so would u need wii-fi?

  • palm pre has gps is freeeee and you have internet for your computer throgh this phone and for freeeee

  • Great video. The best review I've seen of the GPS apps yet. Really great job!

  • Thank you testing these apps

  • wats the file size

  • 1gb+

  • Navigon looks the best TomTom seems choppy

  • Great video. Looks like I better stick with AT&T Navigator by Telenav.

  • This video was very insightful for gaining exposure to the basics for the three presented GPS apps. Thanks!

  • Navigon is more responsive !

  • Well iPhones are Apple Products. Your company is named macworld not appleworld. Just pointing that out

  • by that i meant i think u should only be doing things on mac computers

  • is it worth buying then do you think?

  • the sygic app voice sounds like the voice of the room on 1408

  • Doenst this cost a hell of a money? Or is it by satellite like a normal gps? And not over 3g/wifi?

  • the tom tom app costa $99 for us

  • Yeah, but thats the just the app.. doesnt it cost any money to use it? Like data traffic or something/?

  • It does not cost any money to use the GPS function. Oh BTW i think there is no traffic info.... Check it on iTunes

  • No, it uses GPS data traffic which doesn't affect your data plan or anything.. You can practically remove your SIM card and it will still work (haven't tried it myself though)..

  • i think your phone will immedietly lock itself

so you can only make emergency calls

you can turn on airplane mode and it *should* work

  • Its satellite like a normal gps, not over 3G/WiFi ;)

  • Thanks for the comparison review.

  • lol that was one great review, I mean entertaining also I will never buy an iPhone, but still I enjoyed your video alot :D

  • the sygic seems very glitchy.

  • No, that was my video camera. ;-)

  • Thanks for the video, Jason. Very helpful. Quick query that no one seems to have mentioned - Does this turn-by-turn navigation only work with the 3GS?

  • no these apps for all iphones and even ipod touches with the tom tom car kit

  • All the GPS apps work with either the 3GS or 3G.

  • Interesting video and a good view of the apps before buying.. I bought the Navigon app when it came and it works absolutely great! =)

  • I waited for the Tom Tom app to come out before making a decision. After reading the reviews, and watching several YouTube videos on all three apps, I went with the Navigon - the views it uses on the highway sold me.

I've only had it for a few days, and while it's not quite as easy to use as my Garmin 360 used to be (it got stolen), it's a great app.

When they provide text to speech, it will be awesome...

    I'd recommend it highly.

  • Indeed! I didn't know that TomTom was to come out with an iPhone App but I don't regret buying Navigon for one sec.. The only downside with Navigon is that I need to remove a lot of apps or my music to be able to update Navigon when they drop an update (it uses a lot of memory during installation) and it takes time to remove and then resync 1000+ songs =P

  • finally woo

  • makes you appreciate how important audio is! Great video.

  • woohooo
