I remember being a freshman last year and I was about to go on a date with one of my good guy friends. I didn't think too much of it at the time and ironically, I was listening to this song as I was getting ready because I love the song. Weirdly enough, I think this song is how he felt about me.
I found out he liked me and just hearing," Could you be the one I'm thinking of? Could you be the girl I really love?" makes me feel like he really felt like how this song is.
i have always loved this song. it was always in my head and no 1 knew ever heard of it. lol i said the song is real . then 1 day i was at a flea market and some1 had the 45 for sale in a box of records. i was like hell yes!!!! the song exsists lol great song thanks for posting it
Classic early '80's pop. Great stuff. There was a lot of hometown pride in San Diego when this song hit the charts. Gave all of us bands slogging the local showcase clubs that there might be hope for us. Same thing with Joe Harris and the Speedsters' "You Never Call Me"...
I heard this song on the way home from work on Jack FM in Dallas. I spent over an hour searching for it. I'm so glad to be a Gen X'er from the 80s. \m/ >.< \m/
When I hear this song, I think it was ahead of its time. Just a great tune and really relate able. Hell, it practically tells my feelings for this girl in high school.
Isaiah--ask Dad to please "get the old band back together". This is a tremendous song--I think one of the best of its very specific genre--people might be able to make a case for two or three other songs.
The power of the vocal harmonies is really awesome.
Seems like maybe they got lost in the shuffle of some record company / legal nonsense.
This is a terrific song ! I just heard it over the radio & had to find it. The instrumental transitions are brilliant and I can really relate to the lyrics.
Isaiah, if your Dad has 1/2 the spirit of the upbeat song, then you have a pretty neat Dad. ♪ ♥ ♪♪
To think that I had a mint condition Alfa record and sold it..... Bad move. One of the best songs of my life and always puts a smile to my face and can never get bored listening to it. Best thing, I just introduced it to my 9 year old daughter who loves it and thinks it is cool. Dad's are not cool t nine year olds. Thanks Tony and gang. Reallly means a llot to me.
This is one of my all time favorite songs. So many memories...such a great song! I have two copies of this album (yes, vinyl) cuz Im afraid I'll never find it again! It's not on itunes :(
I wish i could sign it for you! Where in the country are you guys?
I am living in minneapolis mn. I hope for a Monroes reunion this summer and doing some cities thru the midwest and east coast and where ever we have fans.
what an awesome song.brings back alot of memories.tony ortiz was awesome.im 43 and still have this in my favorites to listen to.what aguy to converse with people!!
This is one of THE BEST songs from my dancin', rockin' days. I've always loved these two guys' voices together - and the lyrics are fabulous too. I was in a store last night and it came on and I went crazy the rest of the night trying to remember who sang it. Thanks for posting - man, I love this song!!! Just sent it to my younger sister, she's gonna freak when she opens it up...
I can't thank you enough for emailing me back. It really was a big thrill for me. This song has such an energy, but over time was really making itself hard to find. The corporate radio in my area never show it the light of day, so I needed my memories to guide me back. Tony's a real guy and a real trooper, and he did me a big favor. Thank you, my friend.
easily one of the best 80's songs. i went on a several year search to find it on cd like 10 years ago. finally found it on some obscure 80's compilation. play it for people all the time.
Great, great song. Can't get it out of my head if I tried. Accidentally stumbled across this one searching for stuff by the norwegian band of the same name.
Tony Ortiz is my dad. I never knew so many people liked this song. I remember elementary school on the bus it would come on the radio and i would tell people it was my dad and nobody believed me except the bus driver, crazy stuff.
@formerllama16 That is cool...Your dad made a song that could quite possibly be in my top 500 songs of all time! That is saying a lot cause music is my avocation. Tell your dad all the people know this song rocks!
@formerllama16 : I particulary like the lyrics in this song "all the people tell me so, but what do all the people know". Anyway cool of you that you are checking out your dad's work on the internet btw ! You seem to me: a smart person! And maybe some day you write your own music too !
@luna0201 Something about rights - - the band only made one EP, that went out of print shorty after it was released. It was nearly impossible to find in any form for years, but now it is finally available on a few 80s compilation CDs. The original EP can be found in bootleg, if you're lucky. Of course, it's available here, so thanks for posting!
