Dead reckoning in aviation is simply applying a forecast or expected wind to obtain a heading which will hopefully result in the desired track over the ground or water. You're not lost at the start as Jeanine infers. You also use the wind to get a time for each leg. Modern jets have computers that take half the forecast wind and half the encountered wind enroute to figure heading and time enroute. Coast to coast, the result usually results in an ETA which is no more than two minutes in error.

I'm a big-time Democrat, but the only reason why I would watch the View is because of what Elisabeth might say. I feel the notable imbalance of liberal viewpoints that over shadow the conservative viewpoint on this show, and in a weird way, gains my empathy. While I definitely agree with the liberal viewpoint, it is certainly predictable.
