The taxes go to the people in the form of roads, schools, police, hospitals, military, fire departments and research. They don't go to the president, or "king". Review the science behind global warming? Uh... it's been pretty conclusive since the mid 90's and neither the measurements nor the projections have changed. The problem here isn't the science. The problem is getting past the fear, uncertainty and doubt tactics used by those who will be economically destroyed by the obvious and necessary reactions to this information. The tobacco industry knew the truth about cigarettes for decades. Why should we believe the oil industry is more honest?

When the wealthy are taxed in the right way, then they will, instead of simply taking profits out of the business, they will instead invest the money their businesses make in creating jobs and buying machinery and whatever, instead of investing in things like dirivitives, which create no jobs at all.
