It's a SOHC (single-cam) VTEC, you don't hear them kick in but you do feel it, it's much more gradual. The VTEC that kicks in with an audible note and feel is only in DOHC's...

It's a front wheel drive economy car. You don't need to prove anything..
I have a coupe with the same motor. It's fun but only in a zippy little around the town way. I've got the e30 for the real track fun.
