I think the 80s was a very significant decade for the industry.
A typical 1980 model car is basically 60s technology strangled by emissions. A typical 1990 model car is the modern compact size, computer controlled fuel injection, distributorless ignition, and overall not much different from cars of today.
From there, performance took off in the 90s, but the groundwork for modern car design was established in the 80s.
Style? 80s cars had it. 90s cars look like a bar of soap.
Fun video.... could have been made a bit shorter by not pausing as long on each picture. I owned a '86 Z for 16 years. Gotta love the '80s street machines!
@athlonz2007 1980's = 1 Word Semi Rounded cars Ex Opel omega 1986, Ford Sierra 1982 1990's = more rounded cars Ex ( Mazda Auto zam 1990 , Audi Quattro spyder 1991 )
@athlonz2007 1980's is semi rounded also like car in 3.23 , 4.28 , 4.30 , 4.42 ( more rounded ) , 5.48 , and Toyoya Cresseda model 1989 after Assembly But real manfacure date go back to 1980
N.B The Squared 1980's Cars came from two main ways 1 - From Downsized 1960's Cars 2 - From Assembly of 1970's Real Squared cars like Auston Lagonda 1976
I love 80's cars, the only problem i have with them is that was the point where emissions standards got really bad and it really killed the performance of the car such as the fox body mustangs....
OK, so some people like it. well, factor out looks. because of the oil crisis of the 1980's, these cars were slow. the interior doesnt make up for it because everything is a crap plastic, the steering wheels are ugly, seats always suck, and its a goofy design. good ride at least? no. especially the sports cars. these things sreiously beat you up. NOTHING makes up for the ugly ass looks. all cars died in the 80s.
@MsCrappants well i like everything from 1995+ 95 camaro, 1999 corvette, 1995 3000GT, 95 eclipse, 1999 camaro, 1997 toyota supra, ect. all great. i cannot find any car that i like from 1978-1994. not a single car.
4:21 The 959! Delicious! Thank you so much 80SCARFANS for not forgetting this Porsche masterpiece of the 80s. The greatest era of cars indeed. The WRC was also at its wildest during this era with those Group B rally cars.
@AUSTiNo426 thats great much respect to you man... i found one for sale in great condition but im not sure about it... help me out how do they perform , i know it turns heads right??? i really want one but i need to know is it a good investment or will i just end up pouring money in repairs and crap
@TheYoungwade it all depends on what kind and the condition the ones to get are 87s to 88s with the v6 5 speed combo and they dont rust and the reliabillity is like a 7 out of 10
@AUSTiNo426 thanks man hopefully i get the right one ... i really want the fast back tho it just looks more modern day sports car to me but either or will do
The Porsche 928 at the end was the GTS model and came out in the 90s. Late 92 ,93. Missed a really trick car. Chrysler laser XT turbo. I have had a Lotus and a Porsche and I still think about the Chrysler XT. 1986. Flash red. Black leather. Digital everything. Talking computer. One thousand way power seats. Joystick stereo. The car was was ahead of its time. Even great cup holders. The ladies loved the car. Not going to go into it. First time was in the LASER!!
I had a brand new Chrysler laser XT turbo. Flash red with black leather in 86. I bought a black IROC with tan interior and gold wheels and T-Tops GREAT CAR. Next was the Nissan 300ZX turbo with a body kit and tinted window that made it look like the bat mobile digital dash. Next I went through two Starions. Digital with a great sounds system. Mustang GT with T-Tops Great sounding V8 and finally my favorite is the Porsche 928S .Red with Black leather. Crome exhaust. I bought and sold to afford it
pantera! probly 1 of the most underrated cars ever! i luv 80s cars i own a mk2 supra and i absoloutely luv it!!! todays cars are sooo sh...t! they really do need to bring sum of these monsters back!!!

Cars had style and character up till the 80s. Some 90s cars looked pretty good, but now they all look like shapeless blobs of plastic.
