@ajerseykid they are the NFL requires them to stay a minimum of 3 years in college before they are eligible for the draft, most of them stay all 4 years and just get their degree, the NBA and MLS require at least one year of college before they can get drafted, and also they all must remain academically eligible by the NCAA standards, also an example of a well educated athlete is Shaq, he has his masters and now that he's retired he's working on his PH.D, now remind me what degree do you have?

I was never all that interested in sports. I'm not anti sport at all but what I do hate is that men have to be socially conditioned into following sports and if they dont like sport their treated like theres something wrong with them. I came from a family where the men just didn't pay attention to sport and i suppose that rubbed off on me. Bottom line is theres nothing wrong with disliking sport theres plenty more to life!

Sports is a great way for people who are raised in poverty, unwealthy or even in the middle class, to get them to do sumthin positive & make an impact in others lives. The NBA, I think, is the best league because they give so much back to the community, they always have commercials about it. People put there bodies & future on the line so we can enjoy wat goes on. They never see their families and they can't take long breaks off because if they don't keep at top shape... the next guy replaces them. They do have fun playing. I definitely see your point. I think what you mean to say is "I hate commercial sports," which is quite understandable. These athletes make millions of dollars and are expected to be role models, both of which are not fair or feasible to them or to others. There are arguably more deserving people like doctors or teachers who directly help people. However, sports away from money are awesome; they are a great way to exercise, and they teach a lot of things like discipline to the participants.
Every single sector of life has people who are bad role models. How many Fortune 500 companies have lied cheated or laid people off to get where they are. It's just human nature. There is one redeeming quality of professional sports; we can rest assured that at least for a couple of hours a week, the brainless sports fans will be glued to their tv sets at home and away from the rest of us.
Okay professional athletes aren't role models. They're not paid to be role models. They're paid to do a job just like everyone else. I love sports and I will continue to support my teams. In fact, my AP and AICE classes are dominated by kids that love and play sports, and they get good grades too. @ajerseykid they are the NFL requires them to stay a minimum of 3 years in college before they are eligible for the draft, most of them stay all 4 years and just get their degree, the NBA and MLS require at least one year of college before they can get drafted, and also they all must remain academically eligible by the NCAA standards, also an example of a well educated athlete is Shaq, he has his masters and now that he's retired he's working on his PH.D, now remind me what degree do you have?

I was never all that interested in sports. I'm not anti sport at all but what I do hate is that men have to be socially conditioned into following sports and if they dont like sport their treated like theres something wrong with them. Those are just the quirks that go with sports that cause me to hate them though. The only sport I hate for what it is is football,first the weight requirements are misleading and the "bulking foods" coaches tell the kids to eat just make them pack on a bunch of fat and very little muscle, to play football a kid either has to be fat ot on steroids.
Then the injury factor comes in,kids who play football usually fuck up their bodys for life, and for what? a game that makes them popular? stupid.

I don't like the way coaches treat kids as well, they need to remember that sports are about getting kids interested in fitness and play all the kids, not just the best ones.
My gripes aside I have to say I do enjoy an innocent game of soccer, volleyball and basketball, and I'm very passionate about roid free bodybuilding.

Sports is a great way for people who are raised in poverty, unwealthy or even in the middle class, to get them to do sumthin positive & make an impact in others lives. The NBA, I think, is the best league because they give so much back to the community, they always have commercials about it. People put there bodies & future on the line so we can enjoy wat goes on. Unfortunately, America is too consumed with the need for entertainment. They never see their families and they can't take long breaks off because if they don't keep at top shape... the next guy replaces them. They do have fun playing. Competition is the only reason why people do great things. It's also entertaining. I play football with my friends and we do it to challenge ourselves.

I definitely see your point. I think what you mean to say is "I hate commercial sports," which is quite understandable. These athletes make millions of dollars and are expected to be role models, both of which are not fair or feasible to them or to others. There are arguably more deserving people like doctors or teachers who directly help people. However, sports away from money are awesome; they are a great way to exercise, and they teach a lot of things like discipline to the participants.

I'm a twenty one year old male and I'd rather watch cartoons then watch sport. Oh wait, I'm already doing that. I've been watching cartoons all my life. And I love it with all my heart. To me sport is a load of crap and a waste of my precious time. People say that sport is a man's thing, I'd rather be a mouse and watch Pokémon which I love.

god ive been reading these comments and ily all! all highschool athletes are assholes.. why should i cheer for you? because you can chase a ball? yeah don't think so. I went to one pep rally and it made me want to punch somebody. gah, nothing against sports, but its a waste of money. this year, im totally ditching the pep rally.. i could be studying so that i can graduate.. thats what school is for right?

ya, some athletes may not be capable of working at mcd's, but no one at mcd's could ever do their jobs. Why do they make so much money? because they gernerate more money, dum-dum. Try to sell tickets to people to watch your life... go ahead, we have time. No one cares about your life or job like they do of those of professional athletes. jealousy is ugly on everyone, especially you.
