  • than one day they switch the chemical and spray the people with live virus. Wouldn't be the first time it has happened.

  • @MILLSTREETMED That is looking on the bright side, not sure what you are elluding to with regard to our spraying efforts. This is a product that is based on a bateria that occurs natually in the soil. If you have a real question or comment post back.

  • Wounder how many other speacies they are killing as well? They us silver iodide to make rain and it is toxic, we get to drink it, yummy.

  • To answer your question, they are dropping a bio control substance that is called Vectobac. It contains a naturally occuring bacterium, Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti) which is common in the soils of the US. It is highly specific in its toxicity, mosquito larva ingest it and it kills them. If you have been to Williston from about Mid June through August then you understand why this is so important and necessary.

  • Thank you very much for the info, it sounds very safe, wish they used something safe at Weather Modification, Inc. :(.

  • The only safe weather modification we can use involves painting our bodies and dancing to a heavy dearskin drum.

  • The EPA banned the use of silver iodide.

  • When did the ban the the use of silver iodide please? and lol at your other comment.

  • Had one of those planes fly over my house while living in Williston. Sounded like a semi drove by pushing 100.

  • Im from Williston ND too! They came by Reclamation and I just freaked the fuck out!!!Lol:D

  • Im From Williston and one of those went right over my head I Was like OMG they Are Bombing us! Then my friend told me that its mosquito Peeps from the air force base and i was like oohh HAHA

  • How much do they charge?

  • This is a project that is coordinated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The costs associated pay for per diem for the crew and chemical to put in the plane. The Air Force uses this as a training mission to prepare for wartime vector control. As it has been explained to me, disease kills more soldiers than bullets. The area treated is all public land which is why the Air Force can be involved.

  • My family owns about 2300 acres and would welcome an Airforce drill anytime.

  • Man, look at all the chemicals they're putting into the water.

  • It would be cheaper to give all the workers a bug jacket!

  • That's my man!!!
