  • What is the music from?

  • I have found a treasure! I love this. Thank you for reading it, putting it to music and letting us enjoy your gift.

  • to some formal questions: yes, this is a sonnet (Petrarchan) in iambic pentameter, though Donne's stresses often force attention to the words by straining the rhythms. And, yes, "eternally" and "die" are used as the "e" rhyme in the abbaabbacddcee pattern, here; they did not exactly rhyme at the time, either, but were OK slants. HOWEVER, notice that if you force "eternally" to fit "die," then you make "eternal lie"; if you force "die" to fit "eternally," then it makes a nonsense sound. :-)

  • Do you know if this sonnet had a rhyming couplet at the end?

'Eternally' and 'die' may have rhymed before the Great Vowel Shift, but I'm not sure. Could anyone shed some light on this?

  • Is this in iambic pentameter?

  • I'm pretty sure it is, yes.

  • i feel as i know what he is saying but im on the wrong path to the translation of John Donne i want to understand what he really says but i cant really understand him cause he is beyond my intellegence but i would really love to understand what he is saying tho he sounds like an amazing poet

  • I am utterly bewildered, sir, as to exactly what you are saying.

  • @lilgeodaprince Hes basiccly ( I know I can't spell) that death is nothing to be afraid of and is no different than going to sleep, and when we go to sleep we eventually wake up, and we live for ever in eternity in the afterlife (whatever you may chooseto believe that is)

  • Thank You Sir. Thank you. Indeed, death shall be no more.

  • The intro of Children Of Bodom - Follow The Reaper, i love that song ^^

  • Most beautiful! Read with great feeling and emotion. I had to shed a tear. I want this read at my funeral.

  • Thank you very much for putting a voice to this beautiful sonnet. It's extremely well done.

  • Truly a wonderful video. Excellent mixture of both voice and song.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • You have read it most wonderfully. Excellent. Thank you.

  • the music and the speaker's delivery worked so well together. perfect.

  • The first time I heard this poem was in the movie "Wit". If not seen it I think you would like it! Because there is a scene that talks about the meaning of punctuation in the poem. I can not hear this poem without thinking about that movie and of course death.

  • Yeah I've seen that movie. good movie

  • Amazing delivery! I loved the background music chosen, it definitely complemented the hopeful ending of Donne. Kudos to you! =)

  • good job

  • Excellent.

  • That was beautiful.
