I love all of Steve Earle's stuff, but I think this group was really Steve's best band. They were on the Transcendental Blues and Jerusalem album, it was really a top notch 4 piece rock band, and of course brilliant song writing.
I love that guy's copper Danelectro 12 string! I have the 6 string version. It's a cheap guitar, but sounds and plays great! Proof you don't need to spend a ridiculous $4000 on a new Les Paul.
@TIMOTHYSAARINEN I think that is a Jerry Jones model guitar. probably a $1,000 guitar, nicer versions of dano style guitars. I own a Dano Baritone, which sounds nice for what it does - but it's not a $2,000 Les Paul or Tele.
@PFB1994, I think you're right. I went back and watched the video closely. I loved my cheap Danny so much (I think I paid $269.00 new) I almost bought a Jerry Jones Neptune, kind of a high end version of the Danelectro I have. I think it was $900.00. about 10 years ago. I should have bought it. I love my Danelecro. Great sound. The lipstick pick ups are great. Plays well and stays in tune very well for a cheap guitar. The price of American guitars is becoming totally ridiculous!
Weird question, but lets face it, Steve, although I love him, never shook off the chubby junkie look, apart from around The Revolution Starts Now. Someone please explain to me the positive effect of this album on his fitness, please??

@Wanderlustus The irony would be lost on the Teabaggers and Steve Earle wouldn't approve!

Great version of this song; too bad the Dukes are not together anymore; better with a band.
