  • The meaning of throttle in the dictionary.

=please see 2 minutes 28 in this video.

High my name is shockvave optimus dragstlebeeatron

  • imabeastimabeastimabeastimabeastimabeastIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMMAAAAAABBBBBBBBBEEEEEEEAAAAASSSSSSSSSSTTTTT!!!!!!!

  • monster machine...

  • There is no better feeling then when a top fuel pounding 8000hp into the ground and your body absorbs every bit of it.

    Orgasmic i guess

  • what do they idle at?

  • @camden199 2000+ revs

  • Gotta love when your half crying because of the nitro in your eyes. It is only idling, that is the funny thing. When they hit the track, it feels like a bomb hit you. Great Video.

  • LOL @ 2:30 I think that was a hint back the fuck away

  • Nitro cologne.... Me thinks not. Unburnt nitromethane form nitirc acid in your lungs- HIDEOUS shit that stufff. Love the TOP FUEL machines but. I remember 20 yrs ago sucking up the fumes....LOL- shortened my life expectancy , but , what the heck :))

  • Kleenex, Miss?

  • 2:30

  • Thunderstruck.

  • Kanye West wrote Monster after watching this

  • When I was around one of the top fuel dragsters when they were doing this, just 2 minutes and I couldn't breath nor see. But they didn't wack the throttle that time.

  • new glade nitromethane scented aerosol

  • @artofnick I always thought a cologne called "Nitro" (made with actual nitromethane) would be a good idea. Splash on a little nitro before the big date. If she becomes annoying, splash on some more.

  • @topfuel1429 better not smoke with that cologne...

  • @topfuel1429 If your names Bud, and you find your sister attractive that would probably be a good idea. But for everyone else, go with a regular cologne.

  • @artofnick LOL that would be nice

  • One time at hot rod camp. I put a ricer girls puss against one of these. No she just talks V-8sum.

  • I love it. you have to remember these things are 500 ci. of course you could roll a baseball down the intake port. ffnnn awsome!!!!!

  • Can Gieco save you 15% or more on your car insurance.

Could you hear the little piggy cry wee all the way home?

  • they whack the throttle during the warm up in the pits to seat the clutch in.

  • What makes the gun shot sound at 2:30 ?

  • @7001xxx The dragster hitting the throttle!!! Obviously you have never seen nor heard one of these before!!!

  • @7001xxx Me..

  • Comment removed

  • What caused it make that loud thud?

  • @r6vgowchamp what it is is its them whacking the throttle to about a quarter. Other wise its just running on idle

  • Polished alloy, nitro fumes, slicks and the shockwave blast of a hemi doing what it does best... simply heaven!

  • @moparerrnocar thumbs up if you think people should drive what they like instead of trolling you tube videos to talk shit and be a fan boy!!!! what do you drive faggot? let me guess...i bet it's a hemi cuda with 1,000,000HP or something awesome like that huh?...I'm all about muscle cars..big heavy and powerful...but there are 4 and 6 cylinder cars out there that could rip the panties right off of some of those big V8's

  • @Sk8BoardTrucker i drive a 1972 pontiac firebird. what do you drive?

  • @moparerrnocar fuck ricers AND fuck marijuana... how can i both thumbs up and down you at the same time????

  • @sluaghxI said vote its legalization not vote your approval, if you dont like it dont smoke it. Either way it aint going anywhere. I dont like alcohol unless its in a V8, do I think your criminal cuz you have a few beers after work. Then hold it against you for your job. No... Let me poison my lungs, you poison you liver. Hemp could pull this nation out off depression if the gov was smart, Tax, Fuel/oil, paper, rope, clothes, plastic and cure illnesses. It would be the ultimate cash crop.Bwdik

  • @moparerrnocar

Drugs are bad, Ricers are bad.

  • You ricer faggits are fucking discrace to our for fathers. Its not about a v6/v8/v10 or V anything. Its about supporting your fucking country you arrogant worthless fucking piss ant. If you love Japanese or European engineering then fucking MOVE!!! I'll even offer to help deport your ass. Please any Ricer do all of us REAL Americans a favor and fucking shoot your self. Your the reason this country is falling apart. I'd cut my own cock off and eat it just to be born in the 50's. I HATE MY GEN

  • @moparerrnocar I hope I didn't offend you with the remark about the dragster engines. They are all based on The original Chrysler/Mopar Hemi. (The Greatest) Anyway, Imports from foreign countries ARE destroying our nations economy slowly but surely as more and more jobs get sent overseas. Pretty soon we won't be able to buy ANYTHING American anymore!

  • @155MikeB hell no!!! :) Not the slightest bit offended. Atleast theres still some real Americans left in this world who understand and respect the HEMI. Its sad watching the country slit its own throat :(... Thank that to my generation with their POS ricers and rockets. Sex, drugs, R&R, muscle cars (freedom) is what made this country a dream... Now its just a fading memory :(...

  • @moparerrnocar Thanks for that! You and I are the lucky ones that know and respect the Hemi. The kids today don't have much respect for anything it seems. They soup up the plasticky jap scrap appliances we call cars nowadays and think they are kings of the roadways lol. In the 60's hopping up a 4cyl was a joke and still is compared to what the muscle car engines are capable of.

  • @155MikeB DONT GROUP ALL TEENS TOGETHER, IM 17 AND WORK ON THE PATON RACING TOP FUEL DRAGRACING TEAM AND ON MAY 19-23 I WILL BE WORKING ON THE SCOT PALMER TOP FUEL CAR. I AM REBUILDING A OLD AA/GAS ALTERED AND MY BROTHER HAS A FRONT ENGINE DRAGSTER, I UNDERSTAND MOST TEENS DO DRUGS AND DRIVE HONDAS BUT NOT US ALL, IM ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES

  • @MrNitro65 IM GLAD TO HEAR THAT YOU ARE PART OF THE VAST MINORITY THESE DAYS. I'M NOT THAT NARROW MINDED, AND I'M SORRY IF I OFFENDED YOU, BUT AS YOU SAID, MOST OF THE TEENS THESE DAYS ARE ON DRUGS AND DRIVE HONDA'S. THEY SIMPLY HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON WITH TEENS FROM 30 YEARS AGO. WHEN YOUR AA/GAS ALTERED IS FINISHED, ARE YOU GOING TO POST A VID? IT SOUNDS LIKE A COOL PROJECT. ( SORRY FOR THE CAPS, MY KEYBOARD IS WONKY)

  • @155MikeB im hoping that the altered will be done for next spring, its a 1923 dodge touring body with the back half cut off with a original fuel altered chassis, ive got a old small block 350 with keth black pistons, big cam, and a old original puke yellow 6-71 gmc blower. i might have to run it without the blower for a while because this thing is draining the bank already!! i cant wait for it to be done. dont worry you have not offended me because most people my age are idiots.

  • @moparerrnocar Cut your cock off... Damn man thats a bit extreme. Cut THEIR cocks off so they can't breed any more of them I reckon lol.

  • the bang is not normal my dad is racing i know veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery much...

  • @jonterap what bang? the one at 2:30 ? because thats him hittin the throttle....tha cameras audio distorts the sound a bit because the sound of the throttle is soooo loud

  • @bad65stang ok, but when we race and watching top fuels sometimes i dont get a bang not a time so it have to be the camera as u say.

  • one buggati veyron in each cylinder

  • @fernandobo009 scary when you think of it like that haha

  • Was the bang at 2.30 normal?

  • @mr1000rx

The "bang" at 2:30 was they blipped the throttle to seat the clutches, thats right, just a little blip. There is no way to explain to someone who has never seen a fuel motor running up close up in person. The noise, the sound, the raw power and response of these engines can only be realized by going to the track and seeing for yourself. If you are a racing fan, you owe it to yourself to attend a Top Fuel NHRA event sometime, amazing.

  • @mr1000rx noooooooooooo!

  • @mr1000rx ya they whacked the throttle to about a quarter of the way

  • damn you guys just made me wanna see and feel it for real!

  • ok people who are into cars keep it classic and american

none of this bullshit new school plastic wtf

keep it v8 or go home

  • @pimpdog34 If you like old school V8 simple cars then that's fine, but that doesn't mean that the rest of the world can't try new things. And last time I looked the 'new school plastic' (I presume you're referring to cars like the Lotus Exige or the Koenigsegg CC) cars are actually a damn sight faster than muscle cars on a track.

  • @matt6517 /watch?v=_yWvH5dC7Yo

muscle car. its street legal. and rapes both the cars u named above :)

  • @pimpdog34 Yes, yes it's very impressive in a straight line, but what happens when you show it some corners? You have no idea how it would perform against lightweight european cars, you are just speculating. Besides the car in the video was a one-off custom job, and very impressive, but don't forget that Lotus churn out hundreds of cars every year, and all of them will outperform Gary's car on any bendy track.

  • @matt6517 what you are saying doesnt even make sense. a Dragster is created just for the straight line, of course its gonna suck at corners. and Dragsters are ment to be unique, not just sone generic car created by people in a factory, every one of these are by the hands of the team that put there own money into it.

  • @PhenomRT1 Look back at the comments me and pimpdog34 exchanged and you will see that you are entirely missing the point. He said that a dragster completely wipes the floor with any european sports/super cars. This may be true in a straight line (and some!), but in the corners, lightweight mid-engined sports cars reign supreme. So he was implying that he though a dragster is better than, say, a Lotus Exige in every way. But the Lotus is infinitely more versatile and sophisticated.

  • @PhenomRT1 By the way, if you think I was referring to top fuel dragsters in my second to last comment to pimpdog then, again, you are mistaken. I was referring to Larry Larson's road legal Chevrolet dragster, which would most defintitely be severely embarrased by a Koenigsegg around a bendy track.

  • @pimpdog34 And one more thing, have you even heard of Koenigsegg? If you had I don't think you would be so quick to dismiss them as rubbish compared to an old muscle car with some extra power shoved in.

  • Street legal?

  • Was that a rpg lol

  • Can you HEEEEAR ME?????

  • @need2speed94 carbed i think

  • @trappedunderice6815 fuel injected ....actually they have 42 injector!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....some above the supercharger, some in the intake manifold and the rest in the head!!!!!!!!!!

  • are top fuel engines carbed or fuel injected?

    i know, dumb question

  • 8000 horseepower. Damn!

  • at 2:26 the fella with the white hat reaches in towards the engine.

Mr Engine does not like that!

    Mr Engine goes bang!

  • "Hey, you guys gonna rev....AHHHH!!.... I think I pooped."

  • 1K HP per cylinder......Dude...

  • Yeah there are a lot of ignorant comments on youtube. So here's the thing, I think it's comparing apples and oranges to say that one group of engines is better or worse than another. The technology of a top fuel engine supports its fuel and purpose. Is a turbo and nitrous fed 3 rotor wankel less impressive because of the power adders? Not in my opinion. Thanks for the conversation, best wishes.

  • sooo...umm...how many gallons to the mile does these beast give them????

  • @icebreaker50123 Well its actually measured by how many gallons to the quarter mile. The last time I heard how much they were burning to run that fast it was about 14 gallons of NitroMethane (at about $40 per gallon) per quarter mile, but that DOES INCLUDE the warm-up, burnout, and the actual race itself. Now, Im sure it about 15-20 gallons!

  • @icebreaker50123 Just the neccesary amount ;)

  • Ok, lets be friends from here on. I think that a Ferrari F1 engine and a NASCAR engine and a Kawasaki heavy industries marine engine are all amazing engines that would not run well on pump gas. Top fuel engines are highly specialized and would not run well or even run at all on regular petrol. Why again do you think that they're not impressive, and how do you know my age?

  • @abedanielspictures It's Ok :) You're age is dispalyed in your YouTube profile, so thats how i know your age. The acceleration is impressive, and the sport is impressive too :) I personally just don't find the engine technology related stuff that impressive. Regarding F1, they are by the FIA rules ONLY allowed to use fuel readily available to the public. So they are allowed to use up to 100 Octane RON, (97 Octane AKI) regular petrol.

  • @flyfaen1 I AM, and have been since 1993 in this sport as an engine builder for many of the top teams in the sport. I hate to disagree with you but there is more technology and testing and redesigning and more testing involved with these engines, and their corresponding components than you realize. Just the ignition system alone, which is producing 46 amps per mag, is as advanced in its power, and aplication, as F1! Do some research my friend!

  • @abedanielspictures I also would appologize for my kind of rude statement, It became that way since I was a bit aggravated about all these "yeah! beat that with you're jap and euro crap engines" comments, since the power these top-fuel engines comes from the fuel they burn and not the technology incorporated in the engine.

  • @flyfaen1 14.7 kg of air is required to burn one kilogram of gasoline, compared to only 1.7 kg of air for one kilogram of nitromethane. This means that an engine can burn 8.7 times more nitromethane than gasoline

  • @ButcherJordo Ok.. So then why does it only need 1.7 kg of air? Because almost all of the Oxygen is chemicaly bonded in the nitromethane fuel ;) (and since there is only 21 % of Oxygen in the atmosphere, that just makes it even more obvious how much Oxygen there is in nitromethane)

  • Dear Mr. Flyfaen, The word 'hole' as you used it is spelled 'whole', and horsepower is one word.

  • @abedanielspictures Sorry for my English beeing faulty, but I'm not from a country where English is the native language :/ I can't get every word right all the time.

  • hey flyfaen, you're an idiot.

  • @abedanielspictures That's a real mature statement for a person more than twice my age.

  • @abedanielspictures That's a real mature statement for a person more than twice my age.

  • Not that impressive realy... A low tech, heavily build engine. 8L displacement. And the hole horse power deal comes from it's very VERY volatile oxygen-rich fuel. On ordinary pump gas the power it puts out compared to it's displacement, is disappointing.

  • @flyfaen1

Hp/L is disappointing with ANY engine pump gas. Duh!

  • @flyfaen1 You are a dipshit. You disappoint me.

  • @kirbytherockgod OK... But please, explain why? I didn't say it's a boring or bad sport, it's actually quite nice. But beeing a engine builder my self, and favouring more advanced engineering, i don't find those 8000 hp really that impressive due to the fuel it burns. I personally find making over 200hp/L, in a normaly aspirated (atmospheric) engine running on normal 95/98 RON pump gas, far more exciting. Top-fuel is fun as a sport. Just the engine tech that's not impressive, in my opinion :p

  • @flyfaen1 your a tard my friend.

  • @chopperman2005 Ok, if you say so :)

  • suck on this ya damn japs

  • no smoking here, see all the gas evaporating? :P

    love you americans :D

  • that wasnt a rev that a exhaust shotgun blast to the body!!! fuck!!

  • i wanna see an engine like this dropped into a civic... lmao

  • @dwnrety1 lol the panels would fall off and the chassis would snap in half, where would u sit??

  • @CHKNSFKN hm. lol the roof? :D

  • Any way they are real mean machines :D

  • They use 90% nitromethane and 10% methanol(but they start the engine on methanol) you can see the change in the smoke and sound when they change to nitromethane around 0:16. An engine burning nitromethane can produce up to 2.3 times more power than an engine burning gasoline but it can burn 8.7 times more nitromethane than gasoline.

In a typical run the engine can consume as much as 103 litres (22.75 gallons) of fuel during warmup, burnout, staging, and the quarter-mile run :P

  • @KarILsson search for Top Fuel pump....here on youtube...it show one of the eight fuel pumps in action :D

  • @KarILsson We only use on pump. The pump we used on this car is a Waterman 100 gal. per minute 2 stage pump. There ARE NOT 8 fuel pumps on this car!

  • @KarILsson Again, your just a tad off on your info. We start this particular car on 87 pump gas ( lower flash point) right through the side of the injector. Very very few teams use alcohol to start one anymore. Also your number on total fuel usage during a run is high. Most teams running a 100 gallon pump consume 14 to 17.5 gallons during startup, burnout, backup, then run for a 1/4 mile pass. Now those figures are on the lower side of that w 1000 ft passes.

  • @cfaulc sry but i never said youre car had 8 of them :D, i just refered to the info that the pump video had.

Thx for the right info the info i was just lazy and copy the info from the internet :P

Well i will shut it from now on :D

  • @KarILsson I'm not trying to be mean or just prove someone wrong to be a jerk, but you see a lot of folks trying to explain how one of these works and they really have only a small clue. I just try to give people the correct info based on my years in this business building the engines and living the road doing this.

  • @cfaulc i know ... i was wrong just good some one tells how it is so we can learn more :D

  • TREE-MENDOOSE, VOTTA RAKIT I CAN SMELL THE NITRO FROM ERE!!!!

    MUST GO SEE NEXT YEAR.........

  • lol warm up needs more fuel then a truck needs for 200 kiloemters....

  • Not really, they run on nitrometh, which pretty much EXPLODES in the cylinders.

  • V8 engine at it's loudest and most powerful!

  • No japanese engines here :)

  • @Gokarter04

    No jet engines either..

  • wooo! can't wait for this weekend in Pomona!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • lmao thats sick i cant wait to get out of WyoTech and start workin on em

  • Whats going on here 2:28 ?

  • @billyfiction THEY SNAP THE THROTTLE

  • @billyfiction We are seating the clutch. The driver lets all the way out on the clutch while holding the brake, then birps the throttle to seat the clutch. Some crew chiefs like to do it this way and some just like to tug on the clutch during the warmup. Once thats done then they will run the fuel system to make sure all of the fuel and clutch timers along with the timing map are where they want it. Any more questions just feel free to ask.

  • I have been to quite a few of these live and even watch Scott Kalitta die in his crash and the power of these things can't be said unless you see for yourself.

  • I too will echo what others are saying. If you haven't seen it LIVE and up close it cannot be described. You gotta sit as close as you can though. I live in northern California. Infineon dragstrip has some of the closests seats in drag racing. NOTHING compares to the funny cars and the top fuel dragsters. The force that you feel when those things take off literally shakes you to your core.

  • @abed220 You are right. Nothing can capture this. It must be experienced to be believed. I live in Indianapolis and have been to the Nationals many times. The ground literally shakes. Awesome! Cool video though.

  • you gotta see it to believe it its the baddest ground pounders on the planet

  • Doesn't matter if it's a ricer, a BMW tuner, a Jap tuner or anything else, they all shut up when this american v8 fires to life

  • @barthoedemaker RIGHT ON BROTHER!!!

  • @barthoedemaker please get a life and stop bashing other people cars. True car fans are into ALL types of cars. Sure top fuels are bad ass (i love american v8's), but that doesn't mean tuners aren't awesome.

  • @barthoedemaker Awesome! American absolute. These engines are all based on the original 426 Chrysler Hemi; one of the greatest V8s ever made.

  • plölpplölpplölp.....whoomp whoomp....plölpplölpplölpplölp

  • @xXxMikeDirnTxXx summing it up perfectly :D

  • its amazing these dragsters can wear out a new set of rear tiers in two miles and run 221ft to the gallon!

  • lol now thats a twin cam if i ever seen one:P

  • the ground literally shakes when one of these run by, its quite impressive to experience it "live"

  • what the fuck are they not wearing ear plugs?

have fun with tinnitus or deafness for the rest of your life, dumbasses :)

  • I would have shit at 2:30 LOL

  • Do they run coolant? I heard they didnt

  • @p10ghost No they don't. The amount of fuel that is pump through the engine during a run is enough to cool it!

  • they use 1 1/2 gallons of nitro per second.

  • @jtdHenk They burn more than that during a full pass. Total fuel used during burnout & run can be anywhere from 13 to 17 gallons. Most big money teams are using no less than a 98 gallon per minute pump by waterman or rage. General estimates on the burnout and backup depend on the driver and the nozzle package in the engine but a good figure is 6 gallons. That leaves 7 gallons on your figure which would be 1.75 on the low side. 2 to 2 1/2 gallons is a more real number

  • 2:29 what the f....?

  • @exo6desmo8 setting the clutch. quick low rev blast set it in solid

  • @exo6desmo8 thats the shock wave from the engine revin

  • @ps3dethman1 Thanks Sherlock

  • @exo6desmo8 That's a whisper of what that motor can unleash...

  • Call me stupid, but I love the way it slooowly turns the wheels in neutral, quickly spins them when the clutch is applied and then stops as the driver pulls the brake. Sure, every car can do the same, but paired with a top fuel idle it's impressive.

  • @jakobv8 notmuch that isnt impressive on a top fueler lol

  • Call me stupid, but I love the way it slooowly turns the wheels in neutral, quickly spins them when the clutch is applied and then stops as the driver pulls the brake. Sure, every car can do the same, but with that kind of idle it's impressive.

  • Is that one of those new hybrid cars Al Gore wants us to buy?

  • Hello sy of Argentine .. a question that was this esxploción? Thank you very much and I wait for the reputting .. regards

  • video captures none of the pure insanity of seeing nitro cars in person

  • Nothing but headers :)

  • i love watching these...if i hit the lotto im buying me and all my friends one and were going to race them nonstop.....well we will have to refuel often but you get my point

  • What? .. is the crew member touching on the right clyinder head Top Fuel Pros Please return.

  • @rob418r he is just simply feeling the cylinder head to see how quick the temperature is building in that head.

  • 100 gallon per minute fuel pump, nitromethane, a huge blower and two 44 amp magnetos

  • 8000hp from a v8???? wtf how?!?

  • @select899 Nitro-methane + powerful blower = 8000hp of pure orgasmic fun!

  • @kirbytherockgod i'd love to put tht engine in a hayabusa :)

  • @select899 just use Shell V-Power, that's the solution !

  • @MHLmerrel Rather stick to my Prius ;)

  • what was the bang?

  • @SchuyTV Thats what happens when you rev an 8000hp monster.

  • corey mac ftw

  • I used to work on this car. I'm the guy in the white hat starting it.

  • a video camera just cannot show and smell the power and fragrance of these cars!!! And the sound is second to none!!! good job hanging in there, if the nitro is blowing ur way it is definately rough!!

  • Nice on the fourth of July. rob418r

  • it probably burnt more fuel warming up than what my V8 burns in a whole month!!!!!

  • @CHKNSFKN

and considering its nitromethane 30 seconds probably cost more than most peoples cars lol

  • lol, dude in the hat jumped.

  • @mathyu0179 camera man 2 loool

  • sick!

  • if you've ever stood behind one win thay start it up the nitro will turn your eyes as red as a apple

  • @gr5r6t5r45

No it doesent I have stood behind one, the Exaust comes out the sides of the Motor

    not behind it

  • I think i was there, cory is good freinds with a sponser of mine. Boat brokers in havasu. I love the fuel cars, have you seen the vid of the crowd jump as a fueler burps the thottle?

  • Topfuel cars are by far the coolest and most awesome thing ever created by man

  • Hmm... no ear protectors. That's OK as long as you don't want to hear anything for the rest of your life
