where did you hear that?? that is wildly untrue. in fact, one of the things they encourage most at LU is dating, and finding a significant other. It actually gets sort of annoying. but people are more than welcome to have/post pictures of anyone they would like, and hold opinions of their own.
That is so not appropriate, this is a discussion on a Christian school and you are talking about something that is so perverse and disgusting. If you want to talk about those kinds of things then take it somewhere else but not here.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What a pathetic institution. I almost feel sorry for these kids. But then, many of them probably WANT to be there.
Any school that can't tolerate discourse unless it falls in agreement with the narrow and stupid theological views of the ones who run it is no school.
Dumbest fucking school iv ever seen. When you have an exhibit with dinosaur bones that are "3000 years old" you should just shut down. Money could be spent so much better.
Whenever a school has to advertise that it is "regionally and nationally accredited SACS + TRACS", red flags should go up.
This "University" is a national disgrace. Its diplomas are not worth the paper they are printed on. You will not find employment in anything other than right-wing organizations. Yes, the Bush administration has been hiring Liberty "lawyers", but that game will soon be up, after January, when the country starts to rebuild the damage done.
I DON'T CARE, adonai, that is a debate they would not win, of GOD"S people, not of god's crooks and hypocrites. I got a good arguement for them, why did a liberty univerisity teacher make fun of a blind girl in an advanced chemistry class and she comes to me to confind into b/c she can't cannot possibly have whatever "vision" Fatwell is talking about but she still can see them for what they are worth, enough said, please don't contact me again. have a blessed day!
um, I would like ARGUE that I highly doubt that Liberty University has the number one debate team in the country...I don't anything against Christains that go there other than the fact they vote for political leaders who vote in crackheads who make money off every scandal there is, including the holocaust and 9-11. I really doubt they make sound, wise arguements regarding issues other than religons, that is all they know and really is all they want to know from what i have seen.
I watched Richard Dawkins school you all single handedly on youtube. Maybe you should have sent some of your debate team instead because the students that asked questions made everyone laugh.
Grak70...Randolf Macon "womens" college invited his intellectual being to speak there to "shut LU up"...the laughing is from all the ladies at RMWC laughing at comments made by dawkins about the integrity, accredidation, and any other absurd comments made to questions. Most of the students were not prepared for Dawkins years of jumping around questions. I would much rather be beaten in such questions than to become an intellectual liar and never succesfully answer legit questions. best regards!
If you make accreditation claims as ridiculous as LU made, you deserve all the ridicule you get. LU is doing a huge disservice to its students by inculcating them with ideas that will not win points with employers or associates who are anything but as looney as they themselves are. And as for the questions, if any of the students asking had read Dawkins' book, they would have realized he already answered them. Giving no respect deserves none in turn.
around 1:00 there is a guy wearing santa gear...haha. it's probably a student playing for christmas coffeehouse. but i can't speak for jerry or what his position on santa was...
what's in the Bible is God's true Word. God didn't create sin,we did. and as far as gays go, regardless of what you may have heard, Christians do not hate homosexuals. i'm sorry that you feel so strongly and do not like Liberty U, but as long as we respect your beliefs and your way of life, then please respect ours.
But if god (the bible) tells us whats right and wrong, and our actions are urges which we have to control (because our biology is telling us to do otherwise) then god creates sin because he created our natural urges.
also, I never said you hated anyone, you just "disagree" with a peaceful, nice group of people and I believe that your disagreement paves the way for the extremist fraction of your "group" to distort your religion into violence. And dont feel sorry for me, you should feel sorry for victims of hate crimes at the cost of religious extremists.
God did not create sin. Sin is a natural thing we are born with. After the Fall of Man sin entered the world through the seed of Adam and Eve. God did not tell Eve to eat of the fruit... Satan did. I have gay friends, I do not agree with their lifestyle. But I in NO WISE force my relationship with Christ on them. And if you don't agree with Christianity, then i propose you not bother looking up things concerning Liberty U.
Your right I dont agree with christianity. I look up things like Liberty University because I dont have to believe in anything for belief to creep up at my door. So you may not force religion on others but your fellow christians do. I trust you are the type of christian with which I can get along with, but a large amount of the christians with which I dont, I imagine, would choose to go to LU. So I propose you turn the other cheek If I offend you as I have done my whole life.
welp, i am attending LU in the fall. but i will agree with you... we Christians have a reputation to fix. for many years a lot of us have been nothing but judgmental and hateful to those who don't believe like we do. i am disappointed in that fact. as Christians we are taught by God in the Bible to love one another. a lot of us don't do that, but a lot of us do. i respect your opinion and in no wise am i'm trying to force my God on you.
i am an open minded person and i respect others religious beliefs. i have a friend who is Indian [from India]... obviously, our religious outlook is not the same. i love her, and i respect her beliefs. i actually find learning about others cultures and way of life very intriguing. i also want to apologize on the behalf of my fellow brothers or sisters in Christ who weren't good Christian example to you. i hope that maybe i made a better influence than they did.
I believe the majority of christians are good people and you really dont have a bad reputation compared to other religions. And Im glad you emphasize the point in the bible to love one another. Although an atheist, I derive many of my values from the "good" parts in holy books that contribute to a tolerant society, I hope you see that Atheism is another intriguing way of life, and our people can work together and be friends as you are with your muslim/buddhist/sikh/hindu friend.
Also, There were no bad christians who had an effect on me. I believe the way I do because of life experience. Just as you believe the way you do because of life experience. I made the comment about "turning the other cheek" because of the bombardment with christian philosophy in our society and yet I am not able to tell other people my convicitons without "offending" other people. Again, I am glad you find other beliefs intriguing and you (like many christians) are a good person for that.
If you guys are considering going to LU please read THE LIBERTY WAY (liberty's code of conduct) on LU's website. It is frighteningly similar to catholic elementary school. come on you guys, girls have to wear a one-piece bathing suit at the pool?!?!?
One thing liberty university surely doesnt have is liberty...however, you do have freedom from alternative points of view and the freedom to repeatedly reinforce your own points of view. I hope you guys will reconsider a more diverse (racially, religiously, culturally) university. Your parents have kept you sheltered for too long.
Liberty is Nationally accredited and as good (or better) as many other universities in the U.S.A. Also, if you dislike Christians, Jerry Falwell, or the Bible, we respect your opinion and we hope you respect ours. We hope everyone is challenged to be better human beings, without prejudice. READ MORE, STUDY MORE, DO NOT GIVE US CLICHE RESPONSES JUST BECAUSE YOU HEARD SOMEONE ELSE SAY IT. All comments are welcomed. Thank you for taking your time to view this video.
I always get a kick out of these kinds of ad hominum comments. What, may I ask, is "unreal" about Liberty University? If you take a class in say, statistics or calculus, are the "facts" at Liberty different than say, Harvard? I never understand people who label certain colleges as "not good," especially since they offer the exact same courses and teach the same thing as any ivy league school. How is it different? Please tell me?
I don't hate liberals, gays or myself and I have multiple textbooks, (including a Bible). Liberty in nationally accredited and has teams that are national champions. Please don't make irrational judgment calls on an entire school body based upon bias media and your personal beliefs of which have no support. And you have just made yourself the laughing stock of this page, so have a good day.
I'm a Senior @ LU and this video is a only a snippet of how great Liberty truly is. Have you ever been here? Yes, we take the BIBLICAL side of politics which tends to lean more conservatively, and no, we do not support homosexuality - but do we as an institution hate liberals and 'gays,' absolutely not. So don't make judgment calls on an entire school body based upon the media or YOUR personal beliefs. Honor and Glory to God alone for what He is doing on this mountain!
I bet your a good person based on your reply, but if you interpret your bible literally, than you support a religion that endorses stoning gays to death, and you go to a school founded by a man that believes 911 is the result of homosexually among other things. I hope you find it in your heart to see that many homosexuals are just as compasionate as you and alot even consider themselves christians.
Dude if you knew the Bible then you would know that stoning was a Jewish thing mostly practiced in the Old Testament and NOT a Christian practice. It has NEVER been endorsed by Christ.
It may have not been endorsed by christ. But if you interpret the bible literally (the old testament is in the bible, in case you didnt know) than you (not christ) are endorsing stoning. If christians actually acted more like Jesus than there really wouldnt be any problem with modern christianity.
There is NOTHING in the Bible that tells me that I am to stone anyone, I have been studying it for years. Yes you're about acting more like Jesus, I agree. Problem is we are ALL fallen and with regret some of the worst happen to be "christians" I make no excuse for them. They will be held accountable. The Bible clearly tells us to forgive as Christ would forgive and to leave judgment and justice to God the Father. Both of which are carried out every day in people lives. It's not our call.
Again, Im not saying that the bible tells you to do anything violent, I am saying that by interpreting it literally and influencing others to do the same, you are supporting a negative view of a group of people that others distort into violence. Endorse maybe a strong word, indirecty support is better. The point is even if you believe it is not "our call" you DO have the capacity to make this world a better place; Sadly, idealism (religious, political etc.) is the cause of all atrocities.
Jerry Falwell did not hate liberals and gays. He was a man of God and was a true Christian. God does not hate gays, He hates their ways. The Bible teaches us that we are supposed to hate the sin, not the sinner. Liberals misconstrue this to mean that we hate those who are not like us. Falwell never discriminated against homosexuals; he never told them that they could not be gay. BUT that does not mean that he did not preach on sin. I'm in seminary at Liberty and there are homosexuals at LU.

You cannot get a good education if your entire curriculum has to conform to a 3rd century religious document.
This school claims to hold 3,000 year old dinosaur fossils! They will not let any other accredited institution test them - I wonder why...
This school has a "law school" which has one specific aim: to churn out lawyers who will challenge Roe vs. Wade.
Do not pay money to attend this school. Go to a proper school instead.
