In the above passage the word "chosen" is from the Hebrew "bachar" meaning "to chose, to select, to be with, to join, appoint, to accept"), some version change this word in English to read "sided with", to infer that somehow King Saul hated David and that Jonathan's siding with David in some dispute pissed Saul off. David had done nothing to upset Saul PRIOR to this, so the claim by those wishing to whitewash to scripture is absurd. Why was Saul pissed at Jonathan for "CHOOSING" David?
Why did Saul compare Jonathan to being confused by his mother's nakedness? Why did this so-called brotherly love between David & Jonathan cause Saul to curs his own son and demand David be killed? Could it be that Saul was ashamed of his son's HOMOSEXUALITY?
"the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David. And Jonathan loved him as himself.", and upon Jonathan's death, David says, "my love for you Jonathan, exceeded that for my love of women". May your heart be open to understanding. Praise God the Father.
