As long as authors like Dan Brown, Stephenie Meyer, JK Rowling, Stephen King, and other authors with a fan base similar to the others mentioned about, this film will always be pertinent. Don't sell yourself short, Mr. Carpenter. You're the master!
I really need to rewatch this. One of the few Carpenter films I haven't seen dozens of times. In fact, only just once, a few years ago. It boggled my mind and I had no idea what to make of it. Haha!!
I agree 100%. Loved this film ever since I first saw it, I used to watch it over and over, it's one of the best horror films I've seen. Very underrated as you say.
It's very interesting what is talking about Lovecraft's "the insider", because the last sentence of the book is like the last shot of is best movie, Prince of Darkness. A shot of an actor watching himself in a mirror. And thanks to that, it's a possible interpretation of a mean but almost open to everyone.
truly a classic film Carpenter really tackled the essence of Lovecraft's writing succesfully and made it his own shame there's not more available on this film
Thanks Will, must appreciated that you posted this. I'm another JC fan suffering from the divide in content available between R1 and R2 dvds. This is from France right? I know its not available here, so this is much appreciated.

Creepy old man riding a bicycle on a darkened deserted road... if that shit didn't scare you, then you don't read Sutter Cane.

Carpenter's most underrated film, in my opinion. One of the darkest and creepiest horror films ever made.

I love this film, so underrated. Carpenter was unstoppable in the 80s and this is one of the few films he put out in the 90s that really delivered.
