  • 4:14 Most iconic rock image ever. (Stiv Bators of the Dead Boys gave him the peanut butter seconds later)

  • That's... peanut butter.

  • awesome.

  • thats peanutsbutter lol

  • So funny..

That announcer is Ed Sullivan's protege.

Iggy's fucking whacked off his face cavorting around the stage like a maniac.....jumping into the crowd and smearing peanut butter all over his chest like a drunken messiah...

and this guy's like....."well they don't go about it in a showbiz way!!" hahahahaha...

    y

  • what a guy! wish i was there!!

  • i love how the announcer goes along for the ride

  • ugh, dude is a legendary fox. i LOVE HIM!

  • @RedxRainbow Do it now.

  • As long as the kids like it

  • "And there's the peanut butter..."

    Roflmao...

  • Iggy put the voodo on everybody that night--voodo chile!

  • de las actuaciones más impresionantes que he visto nunca

  • I love that this concert has announcers like a sporting event - lol!

  • i want to be here so BAD. my mother lived through all this, she never even heard of John Lennon or David Bowie! Like, wtf?!?! People don't know how to appreciate a good thing when they have it.

  • You've gotta love the commentary.

  • You watch pioneering moments like this, back when rockstars were the real deal, ......and you wonder what the hell happened.

  • Stiv said he gave Iggy the peanut butter.

  • @NBM3 bators?

  • @NBM3 Believable. The Dead Boys were from Cleveland.

  • Iggy is high on LSD, there is an interview where he talks about this show. The announcer is awesome. Frickn hilarious! Vietnam... muscle cars outta detroit, what an amazing concert! MC5 are awesome too. and don't forget the Monks, awol U.S. soldiers in West Germany predating this... They wanted to tour VietNam! Their album was only released in Europe, sort of censored in the U.S.

  • @Tom78777 No one had ever heard anything remotely like it before.

  • FOKKIN great! Remeber that this is Yankeeland 1970. I mean people read the holy bible and went to vietnam.

How the fokk could they do it? Well, they didn't exactly become millionaires.

  • It's funny that you see his little silver-gloved hand put the mic stand back to it's upright position when he first goes into the crowd!!

  • Thats the best energy ever... Fools holding up Iggy like a god and shit...

  • In announcer's deadpan voice:

    "that's peanut butter."

  • LOL!!!!!!!

  • Iggy doesn't say ''I'm Alright'', he yells ''I fell alright!'' that is part of the lyric from the song, he's not talking about how he is feeling into the crowd.

  • 6/13/70 Crosley Field-Cincinnati Pop Festival, Midsummer Rock. Grand Funk Railroad, Mountain, The Stooges, Alice Cooper, Traffic. This televised concert was hosted by the very straight Jack Lescoulie who provides play-by-play commentary. Alice Cooper gets a pineapple upside cake thrown into his face while he tries to hypnotize the crowd by swinging a pocket watch back and forth.

google Lescoulie for some insight into his interesting career, here depicted near it's end...

  • Could you be super radical and subscribe to me please :)

  • What rock-n-roll is meant to be...

  • @FryFubar go watch the wiggles or something you faggot

  • who the fuck are they? Why don't you listen to them? Since you know all about "the wiggles".

  • lol

  • @FryFubar this is probably their most well known concert.

  • @FryFubar yeah but you didn't change the face of music when you got high mate.

that's exactly what Iggy and The Stooges did.

you probably just sat on your couch pulling your pudd

    you see the difference??

  • ....That's peanut butter.

    hahaha

  • lsd right? this Is great

  • Incredible footage, every time I see it, it gives me goosebumps.

  • Peanut Butter, is this where GG Allin got the idea to throw his crap at the audience??

  • LOL! what is he on?!?!?!

  • he is so fucked up

  • what a Man can Do! thanx god thanx IGGY!

  • LEGENDS!!!!!!DETROOOOOIIT!!!!!

  • The Stooges, the first true punk band

I don't wanna hear any bullshit about the MC5..The Stooges are the real deal.

  • @WhiteStripe333 TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!! Check out IGGY BODY SURFING!!!!! First Punk Rocker, EVAH!

  • @WhiteStripe333 mc5 and the stooges are both great bands

  • RIP Ron

  • right on lostcoder--its amazing how much of an international appeal the stooges have

  • i can't believe something this punk was going in the 60s!

  • there was a lot of punk going on in the 60s. it was just happening in garages and backyards, out of sight of the mainstream and media.

  • "that's peanut butter"

  • Thanks. This is on my Favs list. Years ago I had to stop my wife (who was pregnant) from kicking Debbie Harry's ass at one of Iggy's concerts.

  • that's badass

  • @harpoz haha why'd she wanna do that?

  • He was high on acid that day..

  • And it looks like he's having a pretty great time, too.

  • Did you notice in 3:25 when he sings 'I feel allright', some girl asks him ' Are you allright'!!

  • wow that show was close to me. i live in fairfield but im 14 now so yea

  • How hilarious is the announcer!!! "Well, he is just walking on some peoples' hands now... I think this is a good time for a word from our sponsors!" LOL. Iggy is fucking LEGEND.

  • I first saw this image in Rollingstone, amazing... not big Stooges fan, but to stand on the crowd is amazing. especially in 1970 and not 1985.

  • oh, fuck yes.

I envy the lucky bastards that were there.

  • This is so cool it makes me want to eat dirt.

  • That was goddamn beautiful.....

  • Iggy was on some good stuff

  • Revolution I tell you REVOLUTION!!!! This is the real shit

  • hey hey i`m with you dog

  • This is magnificent

  • One of the greatest and most iconic moments of rock and roll.

  • That is absolutely hilarious, with the "square" announcer, as vonbon said, with the play-by-play style. It's a great example of straight 50s colliding with wild 60s.

  • this is fuckin' amazin. just a comment on the commentary by peymon... whether he intende it as an answer to the crowd woman, "i feel alright" is the lyric that is sung repeatedly at the close of 1970 :)

  • Hm... not digging it :\

  • how can you not dig this? The Stooges were the meanest, the craziest, the fucking emperors of hard lean noise! it's *better* than 'music' - they're still ahead of what's being currently churned out. The Ig and the Asheton brothers simply discovered the subterranean meaning of rock

  • He points with so much fucking authority at 4:14. How can that not inspire you?

  • think of his music what you will, but this dude had style - awesome!!!

  • great moment in rock history.

  • Thank you Iggy! This guy gave up human dignity years ago.

  • WAS THAT 1970 ???? Fcukin WOW ! ! ! !

  • 15 years later there would be thousands of bands doing this. It is simply unbelievable he was doing it in 1970.

  • Announcer:"That's peanut butter"

     HAHAHAHA!

  • Just a priceless piece of video, in more ways than one! Speaking as a decidedly heterosexual male, I've gotta say that Iggy is probably the only male performer who ever turned me on sexually. He had the moves. And how about that announcer! Giving out a play-by-play, as though it wasn't a concert but a sporting event. (Which I guess it kinda *was*!) Just plain bizarre.

  • Ladies and gentlemen...punk rock has officially begun! Maybe in 40 years it will still be alive? HA

  • I've seem the ever infamous "peanut-butter-picture" a 100 times before, but never the video?! Very Cool... Thanks for that! Hell ya!!! nasty...

    TOO FUN (pun intended).

  • This is totally fn awesome!

  • A bit of this was featured in the Ramones End of A Century DVD. Mostly just the peanut butter piece.
