That loft is very small it will work I guess. But you should know pigeons multiply like rabbitts and you will have so many they will ALL get sick and die. SO you should build one that you can stand in and seperate the cocks from hen when you don't want them to breed.
I like the ingenuity. I built my coop from scrap around the yard as well. well minus the wire screen and a couple of hinges. With them being able to be on top of the coop with the wire mesh as an open area I don't think you need to wait an entire month to let them out. I waited two weeks for my birds that had already been trained to another home. I just started keeping them in a cage on top of my roof for an hour a day so they could see their loft then feed them as soon as I put them back.

well you will have seriouse problem woith disease because if they will breed it will be ivewr populated and you must clean atleast once a week
