Wow, the dolls seem kind of ugly in comparison to the cartoon. I was listening to the new DVD commentary on how beautiful the dolls were, but... I disagree.

I had 2 different Jems, Shana (who was sometimes Ken's mom) and Synergy. I loved this cartoon growing up, but now when I watch it on here or Teletoon retro I wonder how no one ever got arrested.

I had some issues with the Jem dolls. That damn piece of pink hair was IMPOSSIBLE to hide or stick anywhere! They should've included a wig instead. But I always used to pretend my Jem dolls were the Barbie's mom's b/c back in the 80's I thought parents were always taller than their kids... that ended in the 90's when I got taller than my mom.

@Cerridwen247 That's totally what I did to my poor jem doll as i had no other jem characters to play with. As such she was the lone tall barbie-like doll and therefore became the "mom" too.... haha... that and the doll looked sooo old, more like a washed up rockstar than the pretty young jem on the cartoon lol... oh the memories...

This was my favorite doll line/cartoon when I was a kid. I was obsessed with Jem!

Now my daughter is the same way with Hannah Montana. Which has a similar rock-star-with-a-secret-identi­ty plot. Go figure.
