Wow. If there is a cd of something like this out there, I hope someone can direct me. I've been searching everywhere for simple banjo music, bluegrass, that is unique, and this Elizabethan flavour is just the thing I've been craving. I think its fantastic when someone tries something new and does it good. Its so unique. Love it.
Great music! That piece definitely works on the banjo. Would love to hear more Elizabethan music played on that instrument. There were wire strung instruments in Elizabethan times, but I don't know that any were played in quite that way. Thanks for sharing!!
It's a 5 string banjo - open-back, & with the the top of the neck scooped out for softer, more rhythmic clawhammer style playing,using the back of the fingernails in a "claw"- this is the oldest style of playing,derived from the African origins of the banjo.Bluegrass 5 string banjos are louder, with a big resonator & tone ring & are played with metal picks.
I really hate the banjo...

That's pretty cool! I've never heard Elizabethan music on banjo before. Have you tried Vivaldi?

what sort of banjo is this? i know there is like different styles/types, (tenor, longneck and stuff) but id like to learn this type. cheers
