Baucus is a corrupt senator. His whole explanation still did not answer why Single Payer is still not in the legislative process. All he says is single payer is still not an "American solution".
BTW, he fails to mention that he takes millions of dollars from big health insurance lobbies and big pharma. What a disgrace.
Too many Reps and Dems are taking money from the healthcare industry. No way can they be objective. Tthe healthcare industry has tons of money, much to lose with a universal and especially a single payor plan and they will stop at nothing to get this defeated. BTW--can we eliminate those useless drug reps who make far too much money to push drugs that they don't know crap about and we all pay for their cute clothes and nice cars everytime we fill a prescription.
The GOP-DEM Corp Crime Family owns Max Baucus as well. After criminal CEOs & CFO's defeat US healthcare again, by the Dem -GOP Crime Family fully insured gold-plated....I can't wait for their Dem-GOP Crime Family of pro-corpoate criminals to be butchered on a niceday in public dragged from offices, homes and cars & from behind taxpaid security thugs to face real and tangible American Revolution-French Style like the reign of terror they bring to Amercians 75% wanting govt. healthcare. Go Fox!
The current plan is to start with a public option, that will destroy private insurance offerings and rapidly force a single payer system. Unfortunately America has woken up to this fact so passing this fast is of utmost importance. Support for Obama's health care schemes is crumbling rapidly. Hurry!!!
Bacus has not only backed off of single payer, that fucker is trying to back off of the public option plan. He and others are putting their love of lobbyists money ahead of the American people. We have to unite and fight!
Max, I have read the constitution. No where did I read "The divine right for health insurance companies to exist and extort money from Americans".
Obviously your need for money & power are paramount to the needs of majority of Americans who desire single payer health care.
If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. We need to protect our country from people in the government like you. Put up a red light out side of your office. You are what you are, be proud of it Max.
Baucus is a frightened weasel on the insurance and pharmaceutical company payrolls. His response is absolutely PATHETIC and he is a traitor to democracy by not giving the single payer advocates a seat at the table. Let's remove his seat at the table and see how he likes it.
Not only does this traitor cunt Baucus take massive amounts of money from drug companies. He also received the MOST amount from AIPAC in2006. Further, 91% of his campaign monies come from OUTSIDE his state of Montana. The vast Americants are woefully ignorant. You fucking stupid ass Americunts who vote for these people need to be declared incompetent
Baucus makes me want to vomit!! He must really think he's a smooth talker, using words like "different America" and "uniquely American result." LOL! My a%$!! Get real!! I'm so sick of them saying, "This is not the time." Why not? Americans want it! So what's the hold up?? If they wasted their time on Single-Payer it might actually happen!
This scum bag has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from pharmaceutical and insurance companies he is bought and payed for and is nothing more than a crook.
Now is the perfect time for single payer. Millions of people are losing their employer-based health care. We dont need to spend one more penny deciding which patients can run the insurance gauntlet to get to a doctor. High quality, comprehensive healthcare for all that is affordable and sustainable? Let's inundate Congress with calls for HR676 & S703. Let's out-persuade for-profit healthcare industry lobbyists. The time is now for single payer to be ON THE TABLE. Single Payer is the home run.
We already pay far more per capita for our disastrous employment-based HEALTH INSURANCE system than countries with good HEALTH CARE programs. Individual well-being and entrepreneurial spirits are both abetted by rational health care finance in S. Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. Why? Because their businesses and citizens are not subsidizing insurance middlemen and pharmaceutical industries' non-negotiable prices. Healthcare funds go directly for services, preventive care, and improving efficiency.
Market-based healthcare reform is NOT what most Americans want. Insurers hold an inexplicable position between patients & doctors. These interlopers impede our access to medical care. Medical bills are the primary cause of U.S. bankruptcy, and yet some elected officials protect insurers turf at the expense of people. Nothing unique in our national character requires us to waste billions on for-profit national healthcare. Such intentional waste would indicate national financial lunacy.
We are not a slow-turning battleship. We are 300 million people who deserve a government-administered, government-financed healthcare program with doctors of our choice. Access should be simple and universal. Far from single payer being a waste of time, Senator, NOT having single payer is a waste of millions of Americans time and money. Save municipal, state, and federal budgets that are currently giving up billions of unnecessary dollars to insurers, pharmaceuticals, and wasteful practices.

opensecrets (dot) org
lists Sen Baucus as having taken the following contributions from the health insurance world:
Insurance$588,185
Health Professionals$537,141
Pharmaceuticals/Health Products$523,313
The good people of Montana should hold this man's feet to the fire - maybe he'll want universal single-payer then.
What a phony!
