  • wow this wasn't a hit?? amazing :)

  • Not to mention... people like to make their artists Gods, and I'm not one to speak bad things of a dead man, but this guy sued his brother. Nobody cares of it anymore.

I was thinking this is really a pity because the brothers's songs recall each other, everything is CCR. And Tom, was a great guitarist. John's voice is brighter and he composed most good songs.

  • I read where John recently said he holds no animosity towards the other band members any longer. I'm not sure a reunion will ever happen as John is tops on his own but it would be a nice gesture for him to record this song in tribute to his brother. Put a little money in bro's families account so to speak.

  • "The song "Joyful Resurrection" features a complete reunion of CCR though John Fogerty recorded his parts separately. Cook and Clifford also backed Tom on his second LP release of 1974 titled Myopia." (WIKIPEDIA)

  • @clambondingla not you`re wrong the lead guitar, bass y keyboard is stu cook playing, tom an vocals and rythm guitar as weel and doug on drums...the part where the 4 X CCR R playing was Mystic Isle of Avalon...your info is absolutely wrong i`ve that info and one of the real LPs by Scott Fogerty first Kid Of Tom Fogerty so.. is not good info...Also i have picture of the visit to mexico of ruby band on 76 same way Scott gave to me

  • @fernandoruyz Thank you for your correction to my info, even when -as you can read in my entry- I took it from Wikipedia. Let me suggest you to put there your info, so it can be shared for much more CCR's fans. Best regards and, again, thank you.

  • Good song...sounds a little like John. R.I.P. Tom.

  • i never forgetyou

  • Great as always Fogerty's (both) sounds.

  • Deana34511. I will always love this song,a hit that never was.

  • As far as I know, this is the last song all four Creedence-guys played together on a record....so you might call it a Creedence-song, though Tom wrote it!

  • Deana3451. A hit that never was,and should have been.

  • My favorite Fogerty song ..wow what a beat great vocals upbeat !

  • The CCR story started long before they became popular. I have a hard time coming up with a true villain in the break-up even after reading every book on the band I can find. It's just a shame...

  • Deana3451. Great song,I love it.

  • love that song!!!

  • Deana3451. To amjse, learn to spell will you.

  • Deana3451. Great song, great man

  • Deana3451. Fantastic song,I love it

  • Deana3451. I think John did some things to piss Tommy right off, otherwise ,he would not have

  • Deana3451. R.I.P. Tom. Fogerty

  • BHBBrother87. FromDeana3451'. I completely agree with you,my fave song

  • Deana3451. Love him too.

  • Love this song by TomFogerty

  • this is right up there with anything the band ever did, tremendous song. How can an elton john song get played as a hit on an oldies station while this record sits collecting dust.

  • esse cara era demais

  • 2:21 - We can see that although underestimated and die a cruel, Tom has insisted on smiling.

  • No, this is really Tom! He was always underestimated. Listen to more of his songs, and you will discover his great, versatile voice. I have several albums, they are really great!!!

  • i think johns sang this song they all sound alike but this has got to be john

  • My name is Antonio, i live in Costa Rican, Central América, I remenbrace Creedence, after Tom Fogerty , from 1970 to 2011. Now listen music, Jhon Fogerty, and, Doug and Stuk Cook. I know problems of the band, we are humans, with mistakes...

  • rip

  • awesome tom we luv u bro....RIP wut a great player!

  • wooow great post thank you great songs

  • John should do a cover of this song in tribute to his brother!!! This is a mega-hit

  • @bravebelt99

yeah, it´s perfect song for john´s repertoire-)

  • Cainefan`s wish is already fullfilled: I got a letter from Bob Fogerty who did some of the cover- and back-photos of CCR telling me that all 4 members of CCR are on this song, and only on this one - so CCR was revived once!

  • Great song. It makes me want to hear more of his music.

  • Happy birthday,Tom! #tom #fogerty

  • Comment removed

  • tom took mgt side when royalties were disputed

  • This is the closest that you can get to CCR after their break-up. All 4 members are performing on this tune. John Fogerty overdubbed his guitar filler part when the other members weren't there, from what I understand, along with his backing vocals.

  • Come on guys, give it a break. Tom is well talented in his own way. His voice is slightly more sweeter and less harsh than John and so he adds his own layer. And his rhythm guitar was also a lead instrument when John was strumming cords like in 'On the Back Porch". He has talent all in his own right. But neither do I wish that they split.

  • I LOVE HIS VOICE.

  • Oh wow this is such a great song!! Sounds like John but has something special of his own!!

  • Oh wow this is such a great song!! Sounds like John but has something special of his own!! What is this song called ?

  • @christina27358 Joyful Resurrection, featured on the album Zephyr National (1972).

  • This is not John Fogerty singing but it's Tom. Though his singing on this song is similar to John's style it's still obvious that it's Tom. To me it's crystal clear. I find it funny that people are making this mistake. I have many songs with Tom and there's no question that it's him singing this great song.

  • This song gives me goose-skin! :)

    awesome song!

  • Thank you very much for posting! Great song and voice, hope John will play this one someday to honor his brother.

  • just another proof that the there's nothing better than the older songs-this is real music

  • Got a letter from Tom`s photographer telling me that all the four CCRs were on this title!

  • holy shittttt....i didnt know he sounded so much like his brother......btw.....is that really him singing the second verse of suzie q, or is that all bullshit? they really do sound similar.

  • @bdogg38128 This is John, it may have been written by Tom Fogerty. I listed to other youtube videos of Tom Fogerty and his voice is substantially different than JF.

  • Dam this sure sounds like John singing I had no idea Tom had the same great pipes.

  • @merrilltim Yeah, I was amazed also but then I watched other Tom Fogerty videos and realized this is John Fogerty singing. Maybe TF wrote this song. .

  • GREAT!

  • I really like John Fogerty, but i`m sure he must be hard to work with.

It`s his way, or the high way. But of course - John Fogerty had / have the gift of writing

    good songs.

    Fogertyfan from Norway.

  • I am devoted to John Fogerty absolutely -- now if you think about it, BOTH of these brothers might have mellowed out in about two or three lifetimes. If you were John, you might think he would play with his old band mates and bury the hatchet. But back then -- if you were TOM -- dude, was it so bad you had to leave Creedence at the top of the game? Apparently so! I love them both.

  • rorygg1 , How can another person stop someone from getting their due? John left the band which gave Tom the chance to take over with the other two members, If john wasnt any good why did they not continue without him and get their so called dues???? that has to tell you something of where the ccr inspiration came from you would think, but hey Tom definately had talent.

  • @bdhor71 Tom left the band one album before the band broke up. John was with the band till the end. I agree with you though, John Fogerty was CCR.

  • @bdhor71 Tom left in 1971.

    CCR broke up in 1972.

And by all accounts, John kept Tom's material off CCR albums.

    Damn shame.

Joyful Resurrection could have been a major CCR hit.

  • By the time Creedence Clearwater Revival was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, John Fogerty refused to perform with his surviving bandmates Stu Cook and Doug Clifford. The pair were barred from the stage, while Fogerty played with an all-star band that included Bruce Springsteen and Robbie Robertson. Tom Fogerty's widow Tricia had expected a Creedence reunion, and even brought the urn containing her husband's ashes to the ceremony.

  • Excelente Tom Fogerty y Sigue paseando tu arte por el cielo.Los angeles disfrutaran de tu excelencte musica.

  • tom was a monster talent. his brother john is a jerk, who never let tom get his due

  • There is enough discord in that quarter, to last a thousand years...John wrote a pile of fabulous songs that made them all rich, could have gone on, but jealousy and thwarted dreams ruined it...Tom was a great musician, but John was the magic

element-together they made great music. The end

  • i'm not so sure john wrote all the songs by himself.tom was the glue in the band. john is still a jerk

  • If Creedence ever reunited...which will never happen...they should name the album "Joyful Resurrection" and cover this song.

  • @Cainefan

All 4 CCRs are on this song, including John. So your wish became true! See my comment ...

  • @Cainefan

I agree entirely. I think it would be a very nice gesture to remember, and honour Tom by using this song, and/or the title of it, when the remaining three former members of CCR ever would re-unite.

I think it's a typical CCR song anyway. (I have done some tests, and actually everyone I asked for the name of the performer or performing band failed, since everyone thought of this as an authentic CCR song, or at least a song by John Fogerty himself.)

  • Wow! Terrific song!

  • This song could have been a hit with a little deeper hook in it , its to bad John didn't help his bro out on this one it really has potential , as it is it still rocks better then most crap on the radio today , may God bless you Tom .

  • tom ,,,the heart and soul of creedence ..

  • Is that tom singing if so he sound's great who knew

  • @Turksonbass Yup, that's Tom singing, writing, and playing, and yes, he is great.

Somebody named John Fogerty wouldn't let him perform on CCR albums.

Funny, Jotyful Resurrection sounds like a great CCR song.

  • @wheelinthesky300 Wait a minute

-who the hell is singing this?

It may very well be John.

What I said still holds, though

-if Tom wrote this, he should have had some material on CCR albums.

  • that's a lot of talent in one family -- can you imagine trying to get noticed with John Fogerty leading the band??? yikes

  • i believe this is the most underrated song of all time!! If it was released today it would be a monster hit!!

  • This is a damn good song!

  • amen. I have always loved this song

  • Verkligen bra låt

  • I believe CCR were playing this-yep a Tom song, but they all came in it.

  • great song!

    R.I.P. Tom Fogerty

    september 6, 1990 - september 6, 2009

  • C'mon, who gives a,,,,,,, just love and respect this for what it is , a fantastic track. period!

  • Don't give a hoot about who did what, or was Tom better, bla bla...I say this is joyful and a "ressurection"...I'll bet Tom was either born- again, or influenced by the Jesus- movement(early 70's)....how could it not be? Bless god for this ,and, of course, tommy fogerty

  • I hope it's true but I was disturbed to hear years back how he wouldn't forgive his brother on his death bed. Of course, I don't know the deal but that sounds sad.

  • sono un grande fan dei creedence e di john fogerty bella questa canzone nn la conoscevo sei un grande john

  • Is it just me, or is "Joyful Ressurection"

    a really good song?

I think it would have been a worthy entry to any Credence album, and Tom sounds pretty much like John, Tom has a lot of soul in his voice.

I wonder if maybe Tom should have been allowed to do a song or two on Credence albums.

  • Tom looks like David Byron (uriah heep)

  • I also grew up loving CCR...it's such a shame when brothers can't get alone. I speak from experience (RIP)

  • I don't have a dog in this fight. But I've been A CCR fan since the beginning. IN fact, they lived near me. In fact I even met Tom. Nice guy.

But everything I've read by maximum is dead on accurate. Unless I missed something, I don't know what anyone can possibly take exception to?

  • I've always been a big CCR and John Fogerty fan but have to admit I never knew anything about Tom's solo career. I think this song is excellent and gives me new respect for the brother that sometimes doesn't get much from music fans. The vocal similarity to John is pretty amazing. Now wonder they sounded so good harmonizing live.

  • @ParkerAllen2 I believe this is John Fogerty singing. If you listen to the other Tom Fogerty videos on youtube you will see that he voice was not similar to JF (IMHO). Tom may have wrote this song but definitely it is John singing.

  • @GOODY61 I don't know. You may be right, but I listened to several other tracks attributed to Tom (Champagne Love, Bonita, Ruby), and the similarity to John is still pretty amazing - although I admit "Joyful Resurrection" is the closest to John's sound and style. Whoever is singing this track they sound great.

  • This song is a gem ...thanks for posting

  • love ccr and really like this song alot, rest his soul, what can you say about familes!!

  • Zephyr National was his best album (I had 4 of Tom's LP's.) That was because John, Stu and Doug played and sang on it. JR was the only song to sound like CCR. Tom's albums always had a variety of styles on them. Incidently, On my original vinyl first CCR LP, Tom and John were credited on "Porterville" and Walk on the Water". Is this a mis-print?

  • John and Tom co-wrote Walk on the Water, but Porterville is John's work.

  • For all his talent - if the 3 things below are true then maximum has some explaining to do.

    1. Fogerty never mentions the fact that one time he and his manager "invested " (without permission) the others money in some tax shelter scam and lost millions.

    2. Fogerty signed one of the worst record deals in history right up there with The Band.

    3. Fogerty never made peace with Tom before he died thats cold

  • maximum is a flake - everything those others posted is the truth - you can research it for yourself

  • @flatheadpower2000 I watched an John Fogerty interview and there was an attempt at reconciliation shortly before Tom's death. Tom Fogerty mentioned that Saul Zaentz was one of his best friends which immediately ticked John off and ended the reunion.

  • @flatheadpower2000 1.Stu's dad's law firm were the one's who OKed the tax shelter

scheme and an insurance company did reimburse 75% of the money some years later.2.John was 17 when he and the rest of the band signed those contracts and Tom who was the oldest was considered the leader of the band at that time which was still years away from becoming CCR.Tom,Stu and Doug were released when the contracts expired not long after CCR broke up but due to a loophole not John.3John saw Tom before he died

  • @flatheadpower2000 But they were never able to agree on much. You need to Know the whole story to understand why.Unfortunately it's hard to find unbiased material because Doug and particularly Stu have made have made a career out of John Fogerty bashing, trying to sabotage his career because he refused to play with them again.

  • This is actually pretty good. This would have fit nicely into a CCR album.

  • no ! no its not good and no it wouldnt after all john was the only talent the others were crap remember hack thats your post on the other vid

  • are you kidding

    this is a good song

  • noldorian- yes! i was being sarcastic to that big mouth that had posted that john was the only talent in ccr. he posted all kinds of crap about stu and doug and tom were hacks and that he could play bass better then stu. blah blah. yeah toms great i always thought so!

  • John was the ONLY talent in CCR. Excuse me. . . John WAS CCR.

  • Sorry - not even close..........................

  • Really!! Let's see . . . . take any of the other three out of the band and you still have the band. Take JC out of the band and you have a retread group playing JC's hits. I think the facts speak for themselves.

  • On the surface maybe - but Tom's unique style would have been missed. And its not all about music, is it? How people work together makes a band work or not. So yes, John Fogerty WAS the main driving force within CCR, but his brother made it 'work' too - so lets try not to make it sound like it was John only - 'cos it wasn't! :-)

  • I think it's time to say something nice about this track and shut the fuck up about CCR for a second. This vocal is pretty damn Good! It's a pretty good tune too. Maybe John would have been a bit less inhibited with it, but this is far from lame, actually quite good.

  • Thats about it. I've seen interviews with Stu Cook and some of Tom before he died. They both (and Doug) always praised John's singing and writting talents. John "made" them write knowing that they would fail- so would the record sales and then John can go to the record company "hey lets renegotiate that contract boys" and then he could say "see im tje talent" he never gave Doug any credit for his part as a drummer never once said good job and the truth is doug came up with the drum grooves.

  • Thanks for this, I never heard it till now, I never heard Tom till now. What a pity!

  • Tom sounds a lot like John in this song.

Two gods of Rock n' Roll.

  • Great voice, sad that John was too insecure to make room for his brother Tom...

  • you nailed it! he always pissed and moaned about the others faults and that they were causing the trouble but he never mentions the fact that one time he and his manager "invested " (without permission) the others money in some tax shelter scam and lost millions. and he also signed one of the worst record deals in history right up there with The Band. he never made peace with Tom before he died thats cold

  • It's a crying shame that TheygotSkylar cannot get his story straight. John wrote ALL the songs for CCR. Just until the last album did he give in and the album didn't sell, so John decided since these morons don't know a good thing, he went on his own and has once again recorded some of the best music in history. John Fogerty, NOT Stu, Cliff or Tom. John's talent is what it is. Stop bitching because he was the talented one, not the others. They too made a bad decision. And they are paying for it.

  • What rock did you crawl out from under?

    What did I miss?

I never said he didnt write the "songs"

true the lyrics and melody line my point was Stu, Tom and Cliff wrote their parts on many songs in respect to their respective instruments. I believe I posted

"they didnt want to write songs" in that they knew he was a great lyrics/melody writer. Watch the interview where Stu states for the record "John wrote great songs! Why would we want to ruin a good thing???

  • Fogerty was the one who came up with the story that they wanted to write and sing. And that leads to the second point Stu and Doug NEVER wanted to sing anything other then some background or harmony again they knew he was a great singer, the only thing was Tom wanted to sing a little. He was the original lead in the Golliwogs until he prompted his brother to take lead. They didnt make any decisions he took charge of the band.

  • TheygotSkylar. Fogerty didn't make up the story. Where in the hell do you get these lies? Look at the names on the songs. He always was in charge. There's always a leader in a band. Stu & Doug said they were getting tired of not getting any of their songs recorded. Stu & Doug are responsible for pushing their songs. John gave in. And, other than the last album, yes John wrote every song. I am not saying he played all the instruments moron. WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR FACTS? YOU SHOULD BURN THAT BOOK.

  • you actually think he wrote EVERYTHING on EVERY song? drums, bass line rythym , lyrics all of it ? on every song ?

no way many time's Stu wrote the bass line and rythym pattern with Doug.

He made them write the last album because he fucked up and was having a shit fit over money- he and the record company lost in court and were order to pay restitution to the others." He was the talented one , not the others"? what are you an asshole if the have no talent why do you listen? fuck off

  • they were great together, I have seen John without them - not the same and i have seen Stu and Doug without John and of course not the same- Skylar i read your post- I know you didnt beat down Johns talent I understand your point even if others may fail to- consider the source!

I think he just wanted out of a terrible record contract. The boys dispute was the distribution of the funds the money lost in that tax shelter deal and the touring routine that made no sense and only expense

  • that maximum guy is a kook - what the hell is his point he makes absolutely no sense did i overlook something or was this a cont. of an old aurgument?

  • thanks for the support some people just twist shit like their 12 years old

  • TheygotSkylar. Your support is from people who could careless about the FACTS. Hard to believe you TRY to fool people on this site. kbaycommando, yes you continue to listen to TheygotSkylar's LIE'S. Good for you. Maybe you should blow Skylar, since both of you like to make up stories as you go along. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.

  • Awesome song!! It's a crying shame that John never let his older brother sing in CCR. Would have been great to have let Tom sing on a few or even perhaps contribute a few songs.

  • Yes John did. But I think only Susie Q though.

  • Tom sang only one verse on one song (Susie Q) and wrote only one song (Walk on the Water) for CCR.

  • always loved this song...........thanks for posting

  • r.i.p. tom

  • Wow, I never knew Tom could sing that great. Wonder why John and Tom never did a duet.

  • No wonder he wouldn't take the back seat! He's as sweet as his brother.

  • one man...one voice...one song...tom did it all...

  • WOW,TOM ,GREAT TO SEE IT! I Had the pleasure of meeting Tom Fogerty (2/16/81 @ "The Old Waldorf" In San Francisco, and he was as nice as pie,and after playing his harmonica on "Cotton Field's" He handed it right to me! I still have it today, and I said to him that day,"AS Great a song writer as John was, CCR WOULD NEVER BEEN AS GREAT WITHOUT TOM'S HARMONIES AND TIGHT RYTHYM GUITAR!It took the WHOLE BAND to make the "whole sound"! God rest your soul,Tommy Fogerty , you really were a "Good Man " !

  • Choogler you're right ! CCR wouldn't have been become so big without Tom ! His influence on the sound of CCR has always been underestiminated ! The 10 years before they become CCR then there sound was born ! A unique sound and still is !

  • thanks 4 the comment to my comment...Always was a big TOM fan ,but there shouldn't be "a choice "to make..IT'S ALL CCR,,WHETHER THE GUYS FROM CCR WANT TO ACCEPT IT OR NOT,,IT IS ALL CCR...!!,,,,STILL TODAY,,TO ME,,IT IS ALL CCR...IF IT WASN'T ,I WOULDN'T LISTEN !!...JOHN RULES,,YES,,BUT SO DO THE 3 OTHER GUY'S !!..I STOPPED CHOOSING ,A LONG TIME AGO.THEY ARE ALLL CCR,,,.PERIOD ..!..I WISH JOHN WOULD SEE IT LIKE THAT ,,TOO..His music,,his choice....

  • @Choogler1 Birth, grow, live and die are natural process of life. We all have to go through them. A legacy to speak kindly of us is the only difference we can make. Hope John will get the same when his time comes ...

  • happy birthday Tom Fogerty!

    11/09/1941

  • from me too !!!

  • Essa música ma traz belas recordações....grande Tom que foi ofuscado pela capacidade e perfeição de seu irmão John Camerom Fogerty, o incomparável.

  • 18 anos sem Tom Fogerty. Suas músicas jamais morrerão. Descance em paz...e have a joyful resurrection!

  • sigues vivo...

  • whoops nevermind

  • what is the name of this song?

  • Joyful Ressurection

  • Tom Fogerty was a great singer and musician, however i believe that CCR wouldn't have been the greatest band in history without Johns song wrighting, focused on political issues just as at the present with songs like Deja Vu all over agian and Can't take it no more... But of course they are or where both great musicians!

  • I think the dynamics between Tom and John was the real reason that Tom's lyrical voice was not able to be shared in the music of CCR but dont be mistaken he still had a huge influence on Johns writing. Not only that but Tom was his older brother and was front man in their earlier bands Tommy Fogerty and the Blue Velvets and later the Goliwogs. If you listen to Tom's solo work his political voice is aparent. John isnt one to share the spotlight, even as he hid from it. Tom was an amazing artist.

  • People don't seem to understand that great singers like Tom Fogerty can sing in a variety of styles and it is not a surprise to me that he sounds as good as John as he is after all his brother.

  • É uma das melhores coisas que ouvi nos últimos tempos. Não deve nada ao CCR. Sensacional!

  • whoa this rocks! awesome, this should have been a number one hit

  • my favorite song......the best!

    Tom Fogerty was great!

  • Tom Fogerty problary of aids via bloodtransfertion(can't spell) BTW All comes from wikipedia

  • You sure can't get away from those genes. Tom's and John's voice are almost identical. The sad thing is John and Tom never made peace before Tom died. I love John dearly, but he is a hard, hard person.

  • se parece mucho a mi

  • If John was playing guitar then they were getting along. That is great!! Sure would be nice to see the video. If you look at the RUBY video, Tom's voice is softer, so that means he has two different sounds, not just one.

  • Maybe paraparanormal could verify for us that this is John Fogerty singing a song written by Tom Fogerty?

  • no. THis tom singing on this song all John did was play guitar on the song. There is actully videos of them recording this song.

  • @paraparanormal Oh my, I would really love to have a glance of THOSE videos..

  • @maryoderkirk I totally agree with you... Tom never sang like this. This is John's voice. But John regardless of all the bs written will not betray Tom on this.

  • @maryoderkirk and for someone to say all John did was play lead guitar is absurd. Those are John's harmonies as well.

  • I agree, this has to be John. At the end of the video it says, written by Tom Fogerty. If you listen to Tom's other songs (Show Down and singing with Oda) his voice is softer and more like other singers, not so unusually unique like John's voice. (Without a picture will we ever know?)

  • no 2 Bro's are gonna have the same style.1 is as just as good as the other. its like gears and cogs it takes a group with lots of time playing,to find the timeing to meet each other.sure john may have lead but it took some one who loved him to follow that long, to assist in makeing the group what it is today.a joint effort! tom has a great sound. who played bass and drums for him bet were gonna see the names of Doug Clifford and Stu Cook in a few tracks.sad we lost him.RIP Tom.

  • I know it almost too well. CCR - the whole band - was my first real love. For a while it superseded ;) my own family: mother and two younger brothers.

After these years John is still my hero. But CCR reached the fame and broke up entirely too soon.

John would have been more reasonable if he would have done music together with Tom including Tom's own pieces.

I read John really misses his brother and thinks if he had let him sing once and a while they would have made some really good hits.

  • I was just yesterday listening this very "Joyful..." ... and some other guy said just the same as I said my words to my wife: Tom has the voice and attitude and he was the one who kept Creedence attitude still alive when John was out (not in music) and had gastric bleeding ulcer.

But anyway: I have the tickets In Helsinki Olympia Stadion (Finland) 26.5. into John´s concert. I think this is the 5:th time I see him alive and every time he´s getting better and better!!!

  • 'Maybe it was John who sounded like Tom?

    Tom was his older brother.'

    Yeah! Maybe just so!

  • yeah maybe - but John wrote the CCR lyrics and classics.

  • What planet are you from, CoalbinBros? Tom Fogerty's sound isn't even close to CCR's sound, that's why he flopped as a solo artist. Whe
