holly fuck......i couldnt hear the man talkin so i turned the volume all the way up. and damn if the calls wont loud then lol......my ears were ringing lol....but good job on the calling
Hi, i just got in to duck hunting and i just bought my self a double reed duck call. I am trying to tune my call i know that i need to move the reeds around to do that. but i am haveing trouble makeing it sound like a duck.
@39sam1992 the call should have been pretty well tune from the shop. You shouldnt mess around with the reed/s untill you have a good idea how to call, and how the different parts of the call work together. Depending on where you got the call you may be able to send it back and have it tuned. You might want to pick up a dvd or cd to help you learn if you dont know many people who hunt. Youtube also has some good vids. Just looks for vids by Ducks Unlimited or a name brand call company.
great tips and thanks for the video... I do a lot of duck hunting in northwest ohio/ southeast michigan near lake eire.. We get a variety of ducks coming through, and I've been having some problems with mallards not responding to my call.. I find that teal and divers respond and tend to set up on our decoys more than mallards.. we hunt on ponds within a few miles from lake erie. I'm not sure if i need to practice more, or just call less... any opinions would be greatly appreciated
dick this guy is known as one of the best sure he has been in mississippi and killed his ducks there to why he says duck calling "basics" not duck calling for everywhere but mississippi
sounds good in a contest but all that fancy shit doesn't work very good in southwest Mississippi. You need three calls down here: 1. a good quack 2. a ga ga ga feed call. 3. and a soft greeting call. That is it. If I wanted to show off it would be on a real instrument. If the ducks don't like your location and don't want to come in, then blowing the shit out of a call isn't going to help.
Honestly, I've hunted a lot of ducks but never, not once, have I seen ducks react favorably to a loud hail call. Maybe it's because I live in the South and by then, the birds have heard guys up north wailing at them dawn to dusk. My experience has been that wild mallards themselves do a softer five or six note call with occasional quacks and chuckles. Duck hunting's first rule is location, location, location. Good calling will never overcome a bad location.

ur calling them to much. The main rules: 1.) Practice using the call at home. 2.) Timeing is important. 3.) Dont use it TO loud. 4.) Dont call them to much. 5.) Decoy placment. 6.) Dog training 7.) Gun type - 12. gauge. ( dont go with a 2-70.) 8.) Make shure your using the right call. 9.) Try not to shoot the decoys. alot of times wood ducks will come land next to our decoys and i don't know wich one is which depending on my view. i usually shoot at them anyway.
Great video. Took me 20 minutes of sifting to find this one. Try adding some more tags to help us find your video better. Reason being, the other stuff I saw was 10% calling and 90% stumbling through describing their calls. You were clear, to the point and spent plenty of time showing each call separately and then together in the package deal. Nice work. Please add more as the ideas come to you. Thanks again.
i need some pointers on my calling, when i do my quack it sounds okay until the end where the sound drops out, but in this video it gets louder near the end of the quack. im saying Quit, and i have also tried saying Dwit and Twit.
Please Help me as i am a beginner caller but an avid hunter.
is it just me or is it freakin hard to do the feeder call? idk if i just dont have a fast enough toung or what but i cant do it right. any tips or advice?
i hunt a small plot of land in the middle on NJ with a section of river and a very small pond there are tons of ducks but they just don't want to come in to range. do u think i should hunt the river or the pond?

i have a duck call that's alot deeper than the calls your making, and every other video ive seen has that raspy sounding call.... why is this, is it an old call or flatout crappy or am i just blowing it wrong.
