  • your doctor is right, for someone your size. all of the numbers you showed are out of normal range, but you are not that far. so it will be very easy to get it fixed, just proper diet and exercise and it will be down before you know it. I guess its a good thing i work in the hospital an know alittle bit about this. keept it going graham, you got heart my friend.

    sincerely,

    Rush

  • congrats mate

  • In may 07 i weight 300kg when i start to walk, slow and with breaks, but 1h every day. This i combined with healthy nutrition.after 3 month i raised my time up to 3h every day and i´ve lost the first 100kg.when i reached 150kg i started with cycling up to 6 hours a day ,so after 14month i reached my goal with 100kg today.

Start walking was the best decision in my life!

You´ll reach the 10km very soon.loosing wait is no magic,it´s continuity.very soon it will be fun!

    Keep on walking, Graham! :-)

  • Have you measured how long your stride is? It can vary a lot. I did the 10,000 steps a day too, and when I measured my stride it was 3 miles. Your doing like a 5k twice a day! I got a nifty little pedometer called an Omron it measured steps as well as approximate miles and calories burned. Also it didn't have to be on your belt. I also used a BodyBugg and that thing conformed the Omron was really accurate. WAY TO GO!

  • I like how your diet is definately a gradual process, unlike some people who go from being completely dormant to attempting to run a mile and get fed up because they can't stand it.

  • good job with it mate am hope u dont stop yet

  • Good on ya Graham & good luck with the weight. It's a battle i have been fighting for years too. I will check back from time to time & see how you are doing.

  • If you want a step counter i have some spares. I see you live is Brissie so i can post it to you. Oh dont forget to increase your water intake, it helps with the hunger, keeps you rehydrated & flushes the body of toxins. xo

  • My boyfriend are diabetic, though he cannot lose it by losing weight.. He got it in the 7th grade, even if he wasn't overweight and was in overall good health. I guess it can happen to anyone.

  • keep it up man im pulling for you

  • Wishing you the best of luck.

    You'll get there, Big Fella.

Slow and steady wins the race.

  • i weigh 320 lbs and i'm starting to follow your example. i hope i do as well as you. you seem to be a good fella to have as a friend. doug

  • Hi Graham, good to see you up and about. From the looks of your blood results your still taking in too many carbs. You may wanrt to cut back. Also, as a side note, for every 1 pound of weight you shed you remove 4 pounds of pressure off your knees. All the best my friend!

  • u are looking great, just the colour in your face!! really great........xjoeyx

  • keep it up mate !

  • are you sure 10,000 steps equals 10 kilometres

a kilometre is 1000 meters so 10 kilometers is 10,000 meters

equals one step = 1 meter

    thats one long step

.....good luck with the weight loss

  • it depends how tall you are and the size of your step. It is just a guideline for me.

  • Hey Graham good luck with the rest of the program, and kudos great results.

  • Hey Graham, you're an inspriration. I've decided to loose 20-25 lbs, and have already changed what I eat. We're all pulling for you to reach your goal....keep it going!!

  • Hey Graham. :) I hope you're doing great. I can tell a huge difference in your face... :)

    Let's lose the weight together!

(I've been a long-time subscriber; Made a new account :P) Anyways, best of luck!

  • Good stuff fella. Hugs from Manchester.

  • its great to hear your feeling better and stuff keep it up!

  • interesting

  • remember also that Muscle weighs more than Fat......If your Weight loss in a given month is minimal BUT your Pants size has gotten SMALLER then thats a good thing, you have changed fat into muscle

i joined Planet Fitness last week for $10 USD a month,my weight goals are realistic

my height is 5'8" and i weigh 400 pounds

i want to be at 300 pounds by the end of 2009

i want to be at 200 pounds by the end of 2010

thats about 2 pounds a week

  • Also..............a normal measurement for Diabetes here in the USA is Normal blood Suger is between 80-110 if you are above 110 you could be Diabetic

My Blood sugar is 70 which is LOW.............thats called Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) where i have to be careful is many people that are Hypoglycemic become diabetic

So i have to lose weight NOW while i am still somewhat healthy

  • I'm no doctor so I can't give you any advice, but I can say that everyone is behind you and wants you to do well! :)

  • Checking the weight once per month is good. Checking it 4 times as much can be also 4x frustration because of one day.

Good to hear your doctor also got surprised ;o)

True words to do it the life style ... when the calory range is too small then you're having great success at the beginning but once earlier or later comes the yoyo.

Great to hear about your success in this update.

  • good on you Graham,

    you're a legend

  • Graham,

Your blood test numbers are of course outside of the acceptable ranges, but they do not seem to really blown out. Probably you are even surprised at that given your size and weight. So I am sure that when you drop back to something even moderately approaching a normal BMI, you blood counts will be well inside normal ranges.

  • actually Chris my doctor was actually surprised to see my stats so good, for my size.

  • you go graham!!

  • I have to tell you..I can actually SEE a difference. Your face is thinner.

You didn't mention your HDL number:THAT is the most important value.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and successes. I just know that you have made ALEX very pleased.

  • here are the other stats.

    MEASURED FRACTIONS

    HDL(protective)1.30 mmol/L (above 1.0)

    LDL(atherogenic)3.62 mmol/L (below 2.0)

    Total/HDL ratio 4.5

So my HDl is fine. I just highlighted in my video the ones that were outside the normal range. I hope wherever Alex is, he can see that I am finally changing my life and getting fitter and healthier and reducing my body weight as per his wishes. I promised him I would and I am intend to keep that promise to him.

  • I do have to say Graham, I'm really impressed with the fact you post videos like you have been. I hope to meet you someday, though me being the United States, puts a large distance, but who knows, I might win the lotto and come for a visit! lol.

  • yes Paul, I do feel and look better already.

  • Go Graham!

  • You should get good blood results before goal. It took me 10 months and half way to goal. My test came back with everything in the normal range. You can do it too.

Congrats on the walking. Hope your knee gets better as well as the back.

  • I am hoping to get blood results every 6 months.

  • woot he made a video on my birthday!!

  • hey graham have you thought of riding a bike anytime down the road? and swimming.. coz bike riding and swimming are the safest ways of excersize.. well not safest but best because there's no hard impact and stress on bones and muscles like when your running and walking your hitting hard on your knees and ankles maybe it would be good for your back and knee with a circular motion such as cycling and swimming he? whaddaya think of that?

  • two good choices! walking with that much wieght most get tiring.

  • I will be going swimming soon. But remember I have to get fit enough to catch the bus there and walk around the pool area.

I am too heavy for a bike at the moment. The bike seats are too painful to sit on. When I am down to 190 kgs I shall consider a bike, as then I should be able to cope sitting on the bike. I walk on the grass mostly when I can. Walking is very tiring and it takes alot of energy, but I have alot of stored energy to burn.

  • Great*Job... Eyes on the Prize ;)

  • Wooohoo your doing great Graham! :D

  • Good luck to you Graham, you will be in better shape in no time!:)

  • Good job Graham! We all know you have the ability to lose the weight!

    Good Luck,

    -SB

  • Good luck with the weight loss and thanks for sharing

  • g'bye n thanks for the update :)

  • Eosinphilia - Said this way.

    E-O-SIN-PHIL-IA

Also. Your levels over all are just barely high, so you keep working on losing that fat, and those levels should get back in the safer zone.

You're doing great. Also 500 pounds? Holy shit Graham! You look big, but not that big! You carry your weight well, keep up the great work, and eww on the mankini! lol. 5/5.

  • thanks for the pronunciation of that word.

Yes I am big. I am 188 cms tall, and my doctor measured my waist when I was standing up, and my waist measurement was 183 cms, so yes I am very big in real life.

Yes my levels are just in the high zone, I know. When I was diagnosed with diabetes my fasting glucose reading was 11, so I am getting alot better than I was.

The mankini was pure fun! :)

  • I am looking forward to watching your park video. Well done.

  • Not too bad, after all.. so well done! Keep us posted... :)

  • GREAT JOB GRAHAM :) I'm glad you're doing awesome, you should keep one of those step counters with you and wear it through the day, no real reason you "need" one, it's just fun to look at, at the end of the day, not believing you actually walked that many steps.

  • Graham! im sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo proud of you! before you know it you'll be RUNNING 10km =]
