Like for example, we have in Muslim law that we can't touch the quran except for the people thyat are clean. I see your point. It might be misunderstood because the Qu'ran is understood differently in Arabic. This is probably culturally and the semantics are different. Just like expressions and words meaning. You say "Shalom" or "Salam" in Hebrew and Arabic, respectively, to greet or to ask for peace. However, there are many Muslim extremist who use the Qu'ran and Allah as justification for their actions of terrorism.
Well, it depends on what you mean by many. Yes I guess there are many, but relative to what? Because even a million is a smal minority out of 1.4 billion Muslims. There is no doubt that there are good Muslims as there were good Germans during the Nazi period. Those Muslims from the West (like Mohammed Ali) know less of the real historical facts of Islam or Mohammed. They read the English translated version of Quran that is specifically written to appeal to the culture and taste of the west. Their conversion to Islam is usually not based on facts but rather on their distrust of the "white man" and his religion.

Big difference, Actually most of the scholars agree that the quranic translations are not quran. Like for example, we have in Muslim law that we can't touch the quran except for the people thyat are clean. So we have to make ritual purity (wudu) before we touch the quran. however, if you have a translation you can touch it even if you're not clean because the scholars have agreed that its not actually quran anymore.

It doesn't 'transubstantiate' if held by an unbeliever, or held by hands clean, dirty, or callused. Truth doesn't need superstitious preparation - it just is.

also all the translations are basically interpretations. because you can't literally translate it, another problem is that anybody and everbody can translate it so you have random people tha have not mastered quranic arabic translating
and since learning and mastering old arabic is such an integral requirement to be any type of authority in Islam there is not that much emphasis on improving the translations since everyone learns arabic, many muslims do

I see your point. It might be misunderstood because the Qu'ran is understood differently in Arabic. This is probably culturally and the semantics are different. Just like expressions and words meaning. You say "Shalom" or "Salam" in Hebrew and Arabic, respectively, to greet or to ask for peace. However, there are many Muslim extremist who use the Qu'ran and Allah as justification for their actions of terrorism.

Well, it depends on what you mean by many. Yes I guess there are many, but relative to what? Because even a million is a smal minority out of 1.4 billion Muslims. And how do you know that they even have a justification? Have you spoken to Middle Easterners of all faiths? Because most of their greivances are political which drives these terrible acts.

No, naturally, it would be impossible to speak to every Muslim community in the world. But, when you hear their justification from video tapes, they always use Allah (or God) as reasoning for their actions. I know many very friendly Muslims (Turkish, Persian, Kurdish, Pakistani and Bangladeshi), so I know these Muslim extremists are a very small percentage of the Muslim population in the world.

This is just stupid. It's a tragedy that Wafa Sultan had to witness her professor filled full of bullets in the name of Allah but to suddenly judge the entire religion on that is an emotional rather than a thoughtful reaction.
Christianity has it's fair share of blood on its hands. Maybe if you had a video condemning Christianity because the IRA blew innocent people in half in London and Birmingham, your approach would be less biased.

The murder of innocent civilians in the name of Allah is not a one time incident or limited to a couple of countries but a worldwide phenomenon. The Muslims themselves will tell you their practice of intolerance and murder is justified according to the verses of the Quran. Although it can be argued that personal experience had first triggered her opinion of Islam, it is clear that the current ugly nature of Islam has provoked her to speak up openly and strongly.

My motive is to put light on the evilness of radical Islam that is approaching an epidemic level in proportion. I am not one to sit down and ignore a problem hoping that it will go away. I will again repeat what I wrote. At this point in time, everyone agrees that Islam has produced far more radical elements than any other religion. In addition, you do not find a Christian in Africa blowing Muslims up because a church in Palestine/Iraq/Albania was burned down by radical Muslims. Open your eyes.

Hitler was Christian. He persecuted the Jewish but that has nothing to do with the bible. The point is that the bible does not order Christians to persecute the Jews or any other human beings for that matter. However, the Quran orders Muslims to wage war against the Christians and Jews.

The context of verse 4:34: In case a perverse woman (wife) refuses to mend her ways (very common among the low-bred and ignorant women of easy virtue) then the husband can admonish her, and even stop sleeping with her, but if the corrective measures fail to refine her, he can take harsher steps to make her qanitatun (devoted and obedient to Allah).

Yesterday, persiapolis (now under new nick Nabz108) insisted "beating" a wife was HARAM according to Quran. Today, "beating" is no more HARAM because verse 4:36 is clear. A man can beat his wife to make her obedient just as he would beat his donkey. Therefore we go back to where we started. I said Islam has exposed women to abuse and evil. Nothing is more abusive than beating a person (for whatever reason).

I like the analogy of 'If I walk around saying I'm a doctor (med) without having an MD, does that mean that I shame all the medical community when I give medical advice or hurt people trying to practice medicine?' Unfortunately this woman has had a bad experience in the Islam that was presented to her. Reading her life story, it seems that at a vital point in her life she was exposed to a machine gun assassination of her professor in Syria. I would say such a strong and poignant episode in her life must have dramatically changed her view of Islam, and haunted her throughout her life. However this is purely an emotional backlash at a religion, which propagates the teachings of peace non-stop.

For starters, thanks to Islam now you can beat her as if she's an animal. Second, your prophet said, "I have seen hell, and majority of its dwellers are women." In pre-Islamic times, Arab women led successful life. Khadija, the first wife of Mohammed, is an example. After Islam, Islamic women are confined to house arrest only for producing and raising babies.

Islam changed the very structure of the society and to a large degree unified the people, reforming and standardizing gender roles throughout the region. There were exceptions like Khadija who was born in an aristocratic and wealthy family. Khadija herself chose to become a Muslim, and was the first revert to Islam. Her life with the Prophet was total bliss, it was the perfect marriage.

You said that in pre-Islamic Arabia female infants were murdered and Islam abolished that. If that was the case, where did Arab women come from? Where did Mohammed's mother and all the women Mohammed married come from? Many Muslims claim Muhammad raised the status of women by limiting a man to no more than four wives. How could Arab men have so many wives if they practiced female infanticide?

Just like India today, many people saw having daughters as a burden. Therefore they kill them. Of course within the circles of the wealthy tribes, women were born, and raised. But the whole issue is that, female infanticide was a horrifically widely accepted practice, even within the aristocratic circles. That is because they saw women as an inferior species. Yet they needed women, for the sake of labour and reproduction.Islam abolished the whole idea that it is ok to kill female newborn babies.
