@92vanguard the solos here are much better than those in the scouts regardless of the high E or not. And personally, I prefer the leaner sound of a smaller group on this chart. Not that it didn't work for the scouts, but smaller settings like this one have a different kind of musical energy.
zwazi09 has apparently not heard the Scouts '83 version which was by FAR the best ever put into this genre. Those soloists were INSANE. I have a copy of the original manuscript as written by the soloists that year. E above double C in the opening solo.
