Why did I watch this, I knew I would cry ; n ; Not only because Tennant was one of faves, Just... his acting. And when he says 'I don't want to go' it just breaks my heart.
People I am going to say this. People need to get over Tennant he's been gone for what two to three years. While worthless fanboys and fangirls of him and not the show want him back. When to be honest I HATED the Tenth Doctor. He was so overrated and rediculous. His emotions all over the place and his loner attitude. Then people who say there were just Doctors and Tennant was THE Doctor just piss me off. He's moved on from the role and so should the rest of his fans.
@gothamcity29 cause that how he was to be especially after the time war the 11th now is all the aggression that was pent up in the 10th that when scene scared everyone and everyone has their fave doc who are to say ppl who love david tenant are over rating him.
Everyone on the Earth pretty much love him! Then there are people who only started with the new ones and won't even give the classics a chance. Which are those people that are also the ones who piss me off. Also it wasn't just his ever shifting emotions it was the fact he also was in love with one of his companions. That was the worst thing ever in the history of Doctor Who. Also another thing I HATE ROSE TYLER!
@gothamcity29 for real damn i'm a big tom baker fan myself why wouldn't ppl give them a try especially with great compaions like leela, romona, sarah jane smith thats sad. Not a big rose fan myself always found her annoying i thought donna and martha had more use
All these people saying "he held the regeneration away, there was so much radiation, bla bla bla" the exact same thing happened to the third Doctor -_-
I only started following this series after Christmas 2011. I never saw but 1 or 2 episodes with Mr. Tennant, so I never really attached to him. But when I see this scene, never seeing the events leading up to it, it is the most moving scene I have ever seen. But it's not just the acting, it's not the cinematics. It's the music that made this. Without the music, it's just the 10th regenerating to the 11th. But WITH it, the powerful brass and choir building up to the moment, I nearly cried.
Personally, I'm still weeping for 6th doctor, but I've got to admit - Chris, David ( and Matt now, there is no arguing about it ) made some pretty AWESOME doctors.
The thing I miss about 10 is his constant battle with his emotions - that somehow made The Doctor even more lonely-time-travelling-genius.
The thing I love about 11 is that he is mad. Just mad. Brilliantly, geniusly MAD!
Something The Doctor will always be. ( One of the reasons we love him, isn't it? )
Whenever I watch this, I get sad thinking Tennant left. And then I get really happy because I see Matt Smith. Both are so damn good. Smith is under-appreciated just because he had to follow Tennant. I love 'em both. Long live The Doctor! :)
he didnt half make a good doctor i atualy refused to watch it for a year when david tennant left LOL and i nearly cried just then he looked soo sad :/ ohh well i shall start to watch matt smith now i have run out of davids doctor whos LOL ;) xxx
I just can't believe how absolutely incredible this episode was. It was just plain brilliant. The writing was amazing, the plot was so good, the graphics were great, and the acting was sheer genius. I mean david tennant just blew me away. I feel so sad about his being gone, but he left with a BANG. And also he was really becoming so sad and unhappy as ten because of all his losses. He needed to start afresh and im glad he did it this way. FOREVER DAVID TENNANT <3
This is just the saddest moment in all of history. I've never cried so much over a tv-show as I did in this episode. Don't get me wrong, I love Matt Smith's doctor, almost as much as ten, but he was just so special.
Doctors 1-9th regeneration is all calm and whatnot. 10's regeneration destroys the TARDIS completely and sends him hurtling towards Earth at breakneck speeds.
@BadWolf476 Not sure if someone told you or not yet, but the reason there such a big explosion for him because he absorbed all the radiation saving wilfred, and boom.
Here I am, watching this for the first time, on the brink of tears when all of a sudden he says, "I don't want to go". And the water works ensued. All I could think was "don't go!" Brilliant.
Regenerating must be the weirdest, most frightening feeling in the world. You know that you're going to die, everything about you, everything that you are is going to cease to exist, and simply be replaced by someone else.
Sure it's still you, and you'll have all your memories, but in a weird way you die.
This was the first Doctor Who - related video I saw before getting into it:
10th Doctor's regeneration: *teary eyed* I haven't got too much clue of who you are but... DON'T GO!!!! :'(
10th-11th regeneration: Oh! So thats what regeneration's about! *interested/sob*
11th Doctor appears and does his thing: O...M...G!!! I don't know who are you but... YOU ARE AMAZING! :D *faints of laughter and awe* (he's my favourite now!)
Followed by me finally seeing Doctor Who and loving 9th, 10th and 11th :D
@Dartpaw86 Am I talking about blame? If someone likes Doctor Whooves, I've got nothing against it. I actually like My Little Pony, it's a good cartoon. Does that mean I want to see stuff about ponies everywhere I go? No, it doesn't, and neither do half the people on the internet.
Not to be morbid, but... on the inevitable day (hopefully in the far future) that David Tennant passes away, I'm going to come back to this scene and watch it again. And I'm going to cry my eyes out.
the thing that i dont get about this regeneration is that everything is on fire. then when you look at the 9th doctor regenerating you see no fire and not crashing
To be honest, a lot of people criticised the 'I don't want to go' because the Doctor is the 'same person' each time. But we don't know that. We know that he has the same memories, the same experiences and same knowledge as the last Doctor, but for a Time Lord, regeneration is a traumatic and quite literally life-changing experience. The Doctor has been through this so many times that it must be a sad feeling of inevitability when he regenerates for yet another cycle.
I dont really get it. The Scene isnt sad at all. Just when you are a Tennant Fan. Then it is, cause he is leaving. But frankly, the doctor is just changing his looks. He is still himself. Thats why I dont really understand the phrase "I dont wanna go". Tennant was lovely. But Smith just brings "more" (feelings, whatever, cant tell). ... Well for me :)
@Meldis007 He's not still himself though. To quote the ultimate expert in it: "Timelords have this little trick, it's sort of a way of cheating death. Except; it means I'm going to change; and I'm not going to see you again. Not like this, not with this daft old face. And before I go..."
That's why 10 and 11 are so different. 10 was more human, where as 11 is more alien. 10 was more caring with a quite scariness, 11 is more direct and quick tempered.
I hated one thing in this Regeneration, and it was the line "I dont wanna go". Wrong! The principle basic of a regeneration , is moving on and changing. You dont just spew out the words "i dont wanna go". That doesnt help the transition between Doctors one little bit. It just makes the viewer think back on the past incarnation instead of whats coming next. It makes you think he really has died, and the next face in line isnt The Doctor at all, but simply a replacement.
@OwenDWF That's the thing because 10 was SO popular, his final line was almost what the fans were thinking as it was happening. Yes regeneration means moving on but not immediately as it's happening! We don't want to 4get 10 and he didn't want to 4get himself either but the fact that the new incarnation shows a new side to the Doctor, warms the fans to him and makes us excited for the future!
@OwenDWF You have a point mate. What they should have done is made us ready for the Eleventh Doctor, have him say something like 'Allons y' to tell us it will all be OK.
Exactly! He could have been sad, but at that moment where he starts to build up for the regeneration, he could have started to get very hyped up, ready for it, just like you see seconds before the energy bursts from his hands here, he the could have roared "ALLONS Y!" in a huge shout. That would have been much better. That could have had a lot more reassuring from people. If the 10th Doctor is ready to move on, then so are we!
The actual answer here is "The TARDIS exploded because they needed a reason to give 11 a new desktop theme."
My storyline theory is that, because he was holding back his regeneration for such a long time, he released it very violently in one massive explosion instead of after the regeneration was complete. 11 didn't spew very much regeneration energy, nor did he seem to need to recover. Granted, 9-10 was iffy because he swallowed the Bad Wolf energy, but 11 wasn't even sick.
@AvatarRiku 11's "fish custard" may have stabilised him, but you make a good point. Erm after 9 absorbed the Bad Wolf he literally started dying and didn't stop until he had fully regenerated into 10, however after 10 absorbed the radiation, he began healing immediately after, remember his wounds disappeared?
@Ultra24K Also, 10 apparently went to visit ALL of his companions he had, starting at the 1st Doctor, so he had been building up regeneration energy for some time.
David Tennant was sooo uper duper great, but still, come on, the Doctor is always the same person, someone new just comes in and plays him and he gets a different personality. Yeah I miss David Tennant but you have to admit Matt Smith is doing a really good job. I did almost burst into tears when he said "I don't want to go."
@TheThelittlemonster1 I think he was just so resistant to change. And he was dying a different way than he ever had before. Radiation poisoning and whatnot. Plus it was in the middle of traveling which might not have happened before.
They also wanted to revamp a lot of the show so this was an easy way to do it.
Why i always get upset when i see the doctor regenerate. The energy, the glowing orange energy. its not healing him, its killing him, killing every single cell in his body, tearing him apart, it hurts so much, physically and emotionally. only after his cells start dying does his new body form, burning with left over energy. he dies, and is reformed.

OwenDWF 2 weeks ago
@OwenDWF That's the thing because 10 was SO popular, his final line was almost what the fans were thinking as it was happening. Yes regeneration means moving on but not immediately as it's happening! We don't want to 4get 10 and he didn't want to 4get himself either but the fact that the new incarnation shows a new side to the Doctor, warms the fans to him and makes us excited for the future!

@OwenDWF You have a point mate. What they should have done is made us ready for the Eleventh Doctor, have him say something like 'Allons y' to tell us it will all be OK.
daleksvscybermen 2 weeks ago
@daleksvscybermen
If the 10th Doctor is ready to move on, then so are we!

can someone tell me why the TARDIS blew up because the 5th,6th,and 8th doctor regenerated in the TARDIS and it didn't blow up.
Ultra24K 2 weeks ago
@Ultra24K Because those doctors weren't David tenant.

@Ultra24K
AvatarRiku 2 weeks ago
@AvatarRiku 11's "fish custard" may have stabilised him, but you make a good point. Erm after 9 absorbed the Bad Wolf he literally started dying and didn't stop until he had fully regenerated into 10, however after 10 absorbed the radiation, he began healing immediately after, remember his wounds disappeared?
JasonCMarone 2 weeks ago
@Ultra24K Also, 10 apparently went to visit ALL of his companions he had, starting at the 1st Doctor, so he had been building up regeneration energy for some time.

David Tennant was sooo uper duper great, but still, come on, the Doctor is always the same person, someone new just comes in and plays him and he gets a different personality. Yeah I miss David Tennant but you have to admit Matt Smith is doing a really good job. I did almost burst into tears when he said "I don't want to go."

TheThelittlemonster1 2 weeks ago
