@moltoallegro19 Sorry, I believe you are correct. I have never heard of Charlotte Church singing opera. Perhaps you know this as well but the style is called "Belle Canto" and was invented because there was no microphones or electronic sound system to amplify a singers voice out into the highest levels of the audience back then. The vocalist creates greater resonance in their throat and mouth to carry greater dynamics of sound to the audience. It takes a lot of hard work and time to perfect!
@k6musicteacher Well, her techniques does not necessarily have anything to do with wether she's singing opera or not. If she's participating in a musical drama, singing a role on stage, she's singing opera. There is an important difference between opera (which is a type of musical work) and classical singing (which is a BROAD genre of singing and it's techniques). This is neither one of the two, rather pop with classical influences.
@moltoallegro19 Of course you are correct. I was attempting to answer or help with your original question, "by what standard would she be considered an opera singer." ALL opera singers that are identified as such use the Belle Canto style and those that do not, whether they sing on stage in the chorus or in a lesser musical drama for example, usually would not be considered an opera singer, just a member of the chorus or a vocalist in a show. If this is not helpful, I apologize.
@k6musicteacher I just asked that question rethorically because there were so many people here refering to this as opera and I wanted to inform them that this isn't. But thanks for your sincere attempt to help me, anyways.
@dbzrulezmorgan98 well, we are no operasingers :p me and my classmates have to sing opera songs all the time during music class (in highschool) and it's starting to irritate us.. We wanna do something more modern :) but no offense ofcourse!

@k6musicteacher I know perfectly well what defines an opera singer. My point is she is not one.
