This wasn't fake people. When the Public Test Realm went out there were crazy bugs. One of them was a way to use your armor with some swapping in and out of your bank and your character would retain your stats from the gear each time you did it. So people could theoretically stack their stats infinitely. That's why they have test realms--so they can get rid of these bugs before the patch goes live. Haha.

It's the test realm. All kinds of goofy bugs get thrown in there. You shoulda seen the day they opened the ptr for seed of corruption. Warlocks were able to use that with no cooldown and while dead.
