Well this video does show this Millie up close. Just think about it, up close it may read as "over acting", but from far away if she doesn't "over act" it'll look plain. Just like dancing. You need to make big motions or it just doesn't give the same effect. And I think she did great(:
That was best performance of the song I heard since Sutton. This was absolutely amazing, great job. I really felt the passion and feeling she was giving, I am totally amazed!!!!!
A note to killingromance13...there is such a thing as overacting even in musical theatre. This production is excellent except when I watch it I feel that they are all trying too hard and not really easily bringing the story to the audience. It is more of a who can be the biggest on the stage contest. This is the directors fault. They are talented and if they would act with each other instead of trying to get the most attention with their characters, it would be more professional.
@KillingRomance13 That's not really true anymore. That is the case for old musical theater, but modern musical theater is leaning more towards shows with actual plot and substance (granted, "Millie" is not a very good example of this at all).
Sutton Foster has some competition. WOW.

I don't think it's over acting as it is choppy acting. Her movements aren't very fluid.
