  • One of/if not my favorite songs of his.

Can't wait to see him in a couple of weeks

  • wow my names bailie and you make me wanna change my name after hearing this song.. you suck.. do you actually have fans??

  • @bailiemarie One: Look at the view count.

Two: look at the like count.

Three: LISTEN TO HIS OTHER SONGS.

Foy is one of the greatest musicians alive today. Take a listen to Treading Water, or maybe Gabrial and the Vagabond, or maybe even Two Shades of Hope. Hell, I've even met him and he's one of the nicest people alive as well. Please don't insult him just because your name just so happens to be in one of his songs, the song is not an attack against you.

  • who the fuck disliked this awesomeness??? hang your head in shame and then kill yourself you cunt.

  • How can anyone not like this?

  • @leftcoastpunk that's what makes a market

  • Just discovered his talent today. A bright light in a darkness that we call today's music

  • KICK *SS, is all I got.

  • i'm a bailie!!!!!!

  • his father's name was Hugh

  • @billymcguiggan It's Bailie, this is about him.

  • this dude is amazing

  • kooooooooooolll HE ROCKSSSSS

  • What a beautiful voice!

I'm sad I haven't found him before! Sometimes I can't understand what he is singing though, wich I find a pitty! Looking forward to hearing more from him!

  • I'm so happy I discovered this genius artist :D

He's unlike anyone else, he's amazing.

  • This songs is unreal, Foy is a true genius, lost count of how many times Ive seen him in belfast, from 3mins onwards its electrical, makes the hairs stand everytime!

  • Why am I just finding out about Foy Vance? This guy is incredible!!! Come to the US and play for us too:)

  • he was born there too lol

  • Awesome song! Awesome voice!

Could someone post the lyrics please?

    PEace!

  • Out of the earth comes blessing and curse

And a famine, defeat my feast

I only wanna be last cos i wanna be first, greed,

wind blows strong keeps me in my place,

But theres so much here, offered, which i cant leave

Cant find anywhere to turn my face but to give?

So much good, still in the blood, oooh the blood

  • Currents grows strong, i must swim against

to the rock, i can find and pace my breath,

gain my strength and shake the fence,

even if it ends in death,

when the fires have been quenched by the flood or the blood

  • Ive known the love of a woman, in her darkest hours.

And ive beckoned to the calling of her room,

the road was so steep and sweet it was strong like flowers

But her bed smelled like a tomb

Who are these people round me telling me

    What are these lies?

I gotta watch my back as they break my bones

But i cant see for the blood in my eyes

    Home, take me home

Gotta move real fast cos im fast in the mud or the blood x 2

  • Smoke fills a room and i cant breathe

Cannot see but i have my wife

And ive got so much, so little to bequeath

    Life,oh life!

when the fires have been quenched by the flood or the blood x 2

Gotta move real fast cos im fast in the mud ,oh the blood x 2

    Tell me bout the blood!

Gotta move real fast cos im fast in the mud or the blood

  • ahhh. i love.

    this is spectacular.

    ABSOLUEly brilliant.

  • music is in a bad place when ppl do not know this name?

  • agreed. in the states music is on a serious downslide righht now...and it sucks so bad. i barley listen to anything new anymore it just makes me sick. im finding a lot of good sruff from across the ocean though. always a fan of sia. foy- omg, katie vogel....

  • what a song..so much emotion...unreal

  • someone said they thought this song was about his family.. Not to clever. Have seen Foy a few times. Twice at Summer Madness and once in the mandela hall. Awesome everytime

  • hits the fuckin spot

  • Well every time he plays up north till dooms day innit :)

  • Foy is just bloody brilliant. Gonna try and see him every time he plays till dooms day. ?-)

  • "A blessing & a curse"-only Bible talks about these 2 things:Isaac gives blessing to Jacob (fooled into doing so with connivance of Jacob & Jacob's mother; Esau misses out, sells birthright for mess of pottage (stew)); in other story, Cain is cursed)... Not trying to be a fanatic here, just saying Vance's strength comes from something not, uh, unimportant. Amazing artist I love more than any artist on earth. Discovered him cause someone on youtube said,"James Blunt?Your crazy listen to Foy Vance

  • Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but what I see is, as in "Indiscriminate Act of Kindness" & "Gabriel and the Vagabond" - Biblical allusions abound(not his fault Vance is a preacher's son ;-): Out of the earth (Adam); blessing (Isaac's to Jacob); a rock (Christ) I can find; allusion to first will be last and last will be first (Christ's words), fire shall be quenched by the flood, oh the blood, so much good, still in the blood, tell me 'bout the blood...oh the blood, til a rock I can find

  • Bloody marvelous !

  • this is lovely.

  • does anyone know the words to this song?

  • is it a traditional song?

  • anamarie8, no i dont think it is a traditional song, i went to see him with my parents and our family's all from around Bangor, Belfast and Lisburn, and they didnt mention anything. Im not sure exactly when he wrote this song, but I know he has a young daughter (i think, might be son) so this song is possibly a response to his feelings about raising a family and its lineage and survival.

    Just my thoughts on it.

    D x

  • thnx so much. this song touches me in a place

i can't even speak of. maybe thats its

    universality.

    thanx.

  • thnx for your thoughts.

    p

  • Bailie is his late father.

  • Out of the earth comes a blessing and a curse

And a famine to feed my feast

Only one to be last cus I want to be first to leave

Wind blow strong keeps me in my place

But there's so much here that I can't erase

Can't find anywhere to turn my face but to give

So much good, still in the blood,

    Oh the blood

So much good, still in the blood,

    Oh the blood, yeah

  • thnx
