@darnops depends on what you want to get upgraded on your laptop. The hard drive & ram can easily be upgraded at your local computer repair store. while upgrades like the disc drive or video card you'll need to call up dell for the right parts.

At the time I ordered this laptop i7 chips costed more and also i may add these prices are in canadian. to order your same system in canada your looking at $2,248.00 for that laptop build
I'm pretty sure you dont pay extra for the grey M15x which I didnt like the color of.
Ordered mine! It's coming Feb. 3rd... can't wait! Getting the M15x with the 1GB graphics card, the best i7 core processor they allow you to buy, and pretty decent other specs as well. It cost me around 2900-ish before taxes. Man I can't wait.
