@talaxian1 Good comment! I made this in 2006 as a radio play for an art-project. Is was never really intended as informative or 100% accurate. The video I made to illustrate the radio-play as a live-performance. Believe it or not, in 2006 there was not that much info about the voyager golden record online.
The records and stylus are protected from space conditions. They are encased in a protective, aluminum cover and there are instructions in the universal language of mathematics on how to decode them.
So we sent only the record and the cartridge? What if they don't know how to build a phonograph with sound and video outputs or digital output? What if they don't have monitor screens?
Why include so many electronic sounds? I mean, if you want to represent Earth, you would think to send many sounds of nature :) At least, that's what I would do...
The recird was answered 27 years after this was sent, I don't know how many of you saw this it was answered in a crop circle it is fascinating they showed their DNA sent a picture of what we looked like and a year later sent a picture of that they looked like and that their population was 23.3 billion people on the 3 planets they lived on,If you have not saw this look for it.....because it was answered,...of course u wont see this on the news:)
@Jasun1974 Unless those aliens are RIGHT next door to us, I don't think they could have received the record in such a small amount of time.. The voyager isn't supposed to even leave our galaxy until 40,000 years from now.
@Jikalakaka Yeah I agree some with that but these guys apparently travel around faster than light in the UFOs and then again I read some UFO books from the 50's where guys like Donald Keyhoe thinks the aliens come from much closer than we think like in our solar system and perhaps maybe even Mars...gets one to think that is for sure,
Phillips, RE: DVD, CD's, they are not stupid, but we portray our race as what, region nut's, Back in 1977. They should have put all The first amendment as the start. and then the blue dunbue from space 2001 & footage from that film.
I can imagine a normal family accidentally passing by the Voyager 1 spacecraft in their personal space car in 500 years from now, and laughing their a** off that piece of garbage (from their point of view).
@jam63112 you realy stupid ...they cant cras in some planet because if thay come to close of some planet the gravity of palnet will direct on diferent direction ..like hayli comet ..they can crashed only with meteors or comets ..thay can not just crash in some planet ...read some books ..

Oh why did thet have to send this corny ass music to the aliens. Now they will think we are totally gay and vaperize our planet for being so corny and cheezy.
Voyager 1 and 2 are still working just fine. As a matter of fact, they received upgraded software to deal with a glitch. We still get data daily. Where did this guy get his info?
Oh great. Breaking glass, alarms, indian music?! Why didn't we just put the sounds of birds and flowing water along with Here Comes the Sun??? That would make the aliens NOT want to come over here and annihilate the human race.
Voyager is currently still doing experiments for NASA. It is only now entering the space between the suns influence and interstella space. It takes about 16 hours to send a command to Voyager.
Why is everyone hating on the Voyager record? It's a respectable attempt at 1-way communication with other intelligent beings. It's extremely silly to think that after intercepting and listening to the contents, aliens would decide to engage in a pointless and expensive campaign to destroy the disk's creators for no reason other than them being there.
@houshidar558 If there is intelligent life out there, they would pick up our satelite and radio communication much earlier with a much higher probability than intercepting a tiny vessel in the vastness of space. If you are worried about this you should stop using your mobile phone and go live in a cave.
Don't be silly a super advanced race came all the way across the galaxy just to wipe us out? If they had that much techonology they would of created worlds, Unlimited resources. War is obsolete in a civilization that advanced. Believe or not humans are a natural part of the planet and we are not inherently evil. Look at ourselves we are at a peak when we can create renewable energy sources, Produce Food at massive scales. It takes more power to Create than Destroy.
How can I take this video seriously. STOPPED at 2:59 think there are legit videos of the record on youtube but this isn’t one of them this is waste of my TIME.
@xXxDavid95xXx Uhm, do you know the size of the universe? There are atleast a million stars in our galaxy alone, and we estimate there are a trillion galaxies in the universe. So that disproves half of your comment. The other half may be right, but the civilization may be billions of years ahead of us, and would have had to invent a way of translation that we can't understand yet. If so, we're probably screwed. Because I can tell you they wouldn't help us, that would be like us teaching an ape.
@Salien1999 hahahahaha... maybe but still if there are any other aliens or humans what if they're not friendly xD and as u say they might be few billion years ahead of us xD and if they attack us with their nuclears or whatever their weapons are we're done >.<
@Salien1999 The truth is that humans do try to teach apes and we do experiments on even the smallest lifeforms to test their intelligence whether its a rat or an elephant. Humans have created more vaccines for animals than humans. If their organic then even the simplest of life forms can detect electric currents. In the Golden Record it recorded brain waves of a human being surely a highly advance race can translate. Think about it we can see spectrums of light that areInvisble without technology
After 2003, The Voyager was arrested by inter-space vaccum police. The reason was: You don't have valid passport to pass from the Sun's space into inter-space vaccum system. From this reason, the voyager is now on the stock of old and used transportation vehicles and it is showed to the Alliens as the sample of the old-inter-stellar-mobile-vehicle! LOL
And why all Alliens here are looking like Humans from Earth?
@BLUTEISENSTERN The technician who should bring the LP player slept that morning too much and traffic was high and he lated. He arrived exactly when the rocket left the atmosphere. LOL. This is the best secret after that one of moon-landing when Armstrong forgot to go to the toillete and after landing he took-off his clothes and made the first ca-ca on the moon! Of course, special design of the astronaut suit made him alive, just frozen was his backside. LOL
@spillerxxxxx hahahaha. Correct! Who knows how Alliens are thinking? Maybe they have apsolutelly different system of intelligence and understand. This could be friendly or enemy invitation for them. Or just some Allien will take this record for use to make better sleep of his/her/its baby? It sounds like music for better sleep of babies. LOL
@lijenchina :D haha Zdravo ! Ka ko si? ... ;-) I think they will start the Records and their heads will begin to explode ( Like Mars Attacks ). After that they will become really mad on us..... , u saw in INDEPENDENCE DAY what will happen :-D
It's nice that you've posted this old audio recording, but please state up front that it is not historically or factually correct.
Most importantly, NASA has not lost contact with either Voyager. When launched in 1977 their mission was projected to last five years, but after 33 years they are still working; responding to commands from Earth and sending back useful data from their payload of instruments!
@ElmerCat This is the proove that some intelligent life occupied the voyageur and now play with us, like we play playstattion! LOL. It is fun for that intelligent life. LOL
@SilentHunter7 Plus too, you have to figure that if they're smart enough to find that floating in space, they'd be smart enough to figure out how to unlock the record. Eventually.
@34enes Well the NASA scientists tried to express the meaning of how the disc was intended to be used as clearly as they could. They used both illustrations, and the spin-flip transition of hydrogen, a value that is the same throughout the universe, as a basic unit of measurement. They hope that a sufficiently advanced civilization would be able to decipher the meaning.
@SilentHunter7 Yes, that was great effort, but what if this record would be found by some Amoeba? In that case, no explanantion would help and all travel of voyagers would be lost. They should send now a new space-craft with Big Brother web-camera and make a lot of money on direct tv transmission. Everyone will watch, from baby born 2010, to end of his/her life in 2100. LOL
Lost all contact? Voyager II will be transmitting radio signals until sometime in 2025, at which point all of its instruments will have lost power and Voyager II's mission will be over, beyond the astronomically low chance that it will be detected and intercepted by intelligent life (not saying there is no life out there, just that space is so vast and Voyager II is so small).
I guess noone from any alien civilization will ever even see this probe and even if they would get the record, they wouldn't understand the instructions, anyway and they would eventually put the record in a museum thinking it would be a piece of ancient visual art from an unknown alien source. Far more probably, future humans or their successors will find it and the record may become an object of historical research, if they are still interested in history or archaeology by that time.
Sending the Golden Record into space wasn't a smart idea. We put all our information out there for anyone/anything to possibly use against us. Information about our DNA, which can be used to make certain biological weapons. Telling them we have gold, which they might want to come steal. What our planet looks like from orbit. And many other things that could be used against us. It's like posting all your personal information on the internet, it's dangerous, but in this case the internet is space
@misterchuckle They wouldn't travel light years to look for gold. Maybe they could be interested if it was made of antimatter. Also,if they'd be able to get the record and understand, they wouldn't need to know our DNA to make biological weapons because it's unlikely that our DNA would still be the same, their own creatures and ours would probably share similar organic features, and there isn't any evidence there's any intelligent life nearby, so it's not likely they'd travel so far to use them.
@nmgscp You seem to know a lot about aliens but it's all speculation. I'm just saying if there is intelligent life out there, it might not all be benevolent. There might be some bad ETs out. With regards to travel, maybe they've got the technology to open worm holes or something, so it isn't necessary to physically travel the distance directly....who knows. I'm just saying it wasn't the brightest idea to give so much information to aliens, if they indeed exist.
@misterchuckle You're possibly right, particularly concerning to the time when it was launched because there was less development of the knowledge about the possibility of existence of alien life near Earth. But, according the current knowledge, the Drake equation gives only 2.1 average civilizations in the entire Milky Way that could communicate with us. And between the likelihood of detection of Earth (without the probe) and the detection of the tiny probe, the 1st is far more likely.
@misterchuckle Given the entire history of Earth, and humans in particular, I'd say that the possibility of humans being annihilated by humans themselves or by a local planetary or near-Earth catastrophe (namely asteroids, comets and supernovae) is quite probably more than 6 billion times higher than being annihilated by an alien civilization, being 6 billion the entire population of Earth population of humans. Actual humans themselves are involved in 2 humanoid extinctions and (I'll continue)
@misterchuckle Well, I repeated population twice, sorry for that, continuing... As I was saying, humans are very likely involved in the extinction of 2 humanoid species: 1 - the much closer to us Homo neanderthalensis and 2 - the Homo flosesiensis, which is less close to modern humans but more recent. And Homo sapiens itself was close to extinction after the eruption of Toba volcano, around 70.000 years ago. And we had Hiroshima, Cold War, Middle East issues. I think these ones are quite worse.
@misterchuckle Sorry, but I have to reply to that pile of... Assuming they even wanted to come here, they could whip up something in situ biologically. As for gold... nickel iron asteroids have more gold in them than all of Earth's reserves combined. They wouldn't need to come here. In fact no physical substance is worth tranporting interstellar distances, not without some major game changing tech, and with that kind of power, you can make gold via nuclear rearrarangement.
Keep in mind that the Voyager crafts will eventually arc back towards us. The once project leader even said that they have lost over 5,000 mph already and that Haley's Comet is a perfect example of how the crafts will simply never travel straight way and away from us. Like the comet, the Voyager crafts will very, very slowly work themselves into an orbit taking them far away and near. Just like Haley's comet and other space bodies not freed from visiting us on a huge orbit.
@colombianguyyo I'm guessing the same force that has slowed them down by 5,000+mph gradually, according to the once project leader...ask NASA. I'm just passing on what I learned and found fascinating while watching an episode about the crafts. The project leader said that he stops by once a week on Fridays to see the position of the crafts and the little bit of data still being received by it.
NASA predicted that by 2020 both probes will stop transmitting images to Earth and will just keep moving due to no friction unless something or someone intersects it. That is why NASA put this tape on Voyager 1 and 2. When they lose power they are hoping that a alien race will get the message and know where we are. Let's just hope that if aliens do find Voyager 1 or 2 they are friendly.
Both Voyager 1 and 2 are still operational but not fully. when Voyager 1 was launched it had about 450 W. Today it only has about 250. This is way more energy than NASA predicted that it would have at this time but it is still losing power. At 2003 one of the probe's capabilities were lost due to lack of power. Over the next 10 years both probes will lose more power and won't be able to do certain things. I will continue in the next comment
Umm...when Voyager 1 & 2 crossed the termination shock, NASA was still in communication with the probes, and in fact, it still is. Don't believe me? Voyager 2 has its own twitter account updated from NASA. Check it out. twitter. com/Voyager2
@PeteBarna Nevermind, the Chipmunks singing "The Hill's are alive with the sound of music" made up for everything. Oh my God, I was not expecting that.
Imagine if the aliens mix up the human sounds with animal sounds! When they come here they'll shake hands with the sheep and cows instead of with us. I guess that's a good thing though, if they're here to dissect our brains! Even worse if they think the instruments are humans, then they will kill us all to save the instruments, thinking we've invaded their planets and put them on the walls as trophies.
The aliens will play the record and will hear "NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP, NEVER GONNA LET YOU DOWN..." "Oh shit! We've been rickrolled"

Look at ourselves we are at a peak when we can create renewable energy sources, Produce Food at massive scales. It takes more power to Create than Destroy.

Read an article saying that pioneer 11 is coming back.
The sun’s gravity is slowing it to a point that it is slight additional acceleration towards the sun.
Wait to see if eventually the same will happen with voyager?

it's totally pointless even if there was any civilization in Univers how could they've learn anything just from that ?
xXxDavid95xXx 1 year ago
@xXxDavid95xXx Uhm, do you know the size of the universe? There are atleast a million stars in our galaxy alone, and we estimate there are a trillion galaxies in the universe. So that disproves half of your comment. The other half may be right, but the civilization may be billions of years ahead of us, and would have had to invent a way of translation that we can't understand yet. If so, we're probably screwed. Because I can tell you they wouldn't help us, that would be like us teaching an ape.
Salien1999 1 year ago
@Salien1999 hahahahaha... maybe but still if there are any other aliens or humans what if they're not friendly xD and as u say they might be few billion years ahead of us xD and if they attack us with their nuclears or whatever their weapons are we're done >.<
xXxDavid95xXx 1 year ago

LOL
And why all Alliens here are looking like Humans from Earth?

did they dont put a lp player within? idiots!!!!!!!!

LOL

34enes 1 year ago
@34enes No. That's why we put one on the probe.
SilentHunter7 1 year ago
@SilentHunter7
yes and u expect that they know how to use that?
34enes 1 year ago
@34enes No. That's why they put instructions on the cover using universal constants as a common language.
SilentHunter7 1 year ago
@SilentHunter7 Plus too, you have to figure that if they're smart enough to find that floating in space, they'd be smart enough to figure out how to unlock the record. Eventually.
SilentHunter7 1 year ago
@SilentHunter7
imagine they would send us a thatlike probe with "instructions" but in their way, do u think u would understand how to use it?
34enes 1 year ago
@34enes Well the NASA scientists tried to express the meaning of how the disc was intended to be used as clearly as they could. They used both illustrations, and the spin-flip transition of hydrogen, a value that is the same throughout the universe, as a basic unit of measurement. They hope that a sufficiently advanced civilization would be able to decipher the meaning.
SilentHunter7 1 year ago
@SilentHunter7 Yes, that was great effort, but what if this record would be found by some Amoeba? In that case, no explanantion would help and all travel of voyagers would be lost. They should send now a new space-craft with Big Brother web-camera and make a lot of money on direct tv transmission. Everyone will watch, from baby born 2010, to end of his/her life in 2100. LOL
lijenchina 1 year ago
@34enes Who cares for grammophone, they have iPod! LOL
lijenchina 1 year ago
Lost all contact? Voyager II will be transmitting radio signals until sometime in 2025, at which point all of its instruments will have lost power and Voyager II's mission will be over, beyond the astronomically low chance that it will be detected and intercepted by intelligent life (not saying there is no life out there, just that space is so vast and Voyager II is so small).
dacypher22 1 year ago

It's like posting all your personal information on the internet, it's dangerous, but in this case the internet is space
misterchuckle 1 year ago
@misterchuckle But, their planet might be entirely made up of gold, so it's not all that stupid.
billyb4223 1 year ago
@billyb4223 Or they could be flesh eating zombies from outer space, in which case it is stupid.
misterchuckle 1 year ago
@misterchuckle Zombies don't have brains, so how could they build AND OPERATE a spacecraft?
billyb4223 1 year ago
@misterchuckle They wouldn't travel light years to look for gold. Maybe they could be interested if it was made of antimatter. Also,if they'd be able to get the record and understand, they wouldn't need to know our DNA to make biological weapons because it's unlikely that our DNA would still be the same, their own creatures and ours would probably share similar organic features, and there isn't any evidence there's any intelligent life nearby, so it's not likely they'd travel so far to use them.
nmgscp 1 year ago
@nmgscp You seem to know a lot about aliens but it's all speculation. I'm just saying if there is intelligent life out there, it might not all be benevolent. There might be some bad ETs out. With regards to travel, maybe they've got the technology to open worm holes or something, so it isn't necessary to physically travel the distance directly....who knows. I'm just saying it wasn't the brightest idea to give so much information to aliens, if they indeed exist.
misterchuckle 1 year ago
@misterchuckle You're possibly right, particularly concerning to the time when it was launched because there was less development of the knowledge about the possibility of existence of alien life near Earth. But, according the current knowledge, the Drake equation gives only 2.1 average civilizations in the entire Milky Way that could communicate with us. And between the likelihood of detection of Earth (without the probe) and the detection of the tiny probe, the 1st is far more likely.
nmgscp 1 year ago
@misterchuckle Given the entire history of Earth, and humans in particular, I'd say that the possibility of humans being annihilated by humans themselves or by a local planetary or near-Earth catastrophe (namely asteroids, comets and supernovae) is quite probably more than 6 billion times higher than being annihilated by an alien civilization, being 6 billion the entire population of Earth population of humans. Actual humans themselves are involved in 2 humanoid extinctions and (I'll continue)
nmgscp 1 year ago
@misterchuckle Well, I repeated population twice, sorry for that, continuing... As I was saying, humans are very likely involved in the extinction of 2 humanoid species: 1 - the much closer to us Homo neanderthalensis and 2 - the Homo flosesiensis, which is less close to modern humans but more recent. And Homo sapiens itself was close to extinction after the eruption of Toba volcano, around 70.000 years ago. And we had Hiroshima, Cold War, Middle East issues. I think these ones are quite worse.
nmgscp 1 year ago

Cookenour 1 year ago
@Cookenour
hhhhmm that's interesting so what will eventually pull them in orbit since they said it already left the sun's gravitational pull?
colombianguyyo 1 year ago

Let's just hope that if aliens do find Voyager 1 or 2 they are friendly.
blankkyy 1 year ago
Both Voyager 1 and 2 are still operational but not fully. when Voyager 1 was launched it had about 450 W. Today it only has about 250. This is way more energy than NASA predicted that it would have at this time but it is still losing power. At 2003 one of the probe's capabilities were lost due to lack of power. Over the next 10 years both probes will lose more power and won't be able to do certain things. I will continue in the next comment
