  • OMG this song means Heaven to me!

(She sings me to sleep, her music makes me sleep...)

  • I may prefer Emily Browning's version of this song, but I'll admit, I like this version too :) She has a truly amazing voice <3

  • Thumbs Up If Sucker Punch or Emily Brwoning Brought You Here

  • I didn't know this version...surprising, but I must say that I prefer the cover from Shannon wright...this one does not really respect the original melody, it disapears, too bad...

  • <3

  • I don't even know the original, but I'm pretty sure I can't beat this version anyway ;)

    <3 EA!!!

  • @nerissi - You'd be amazed at just how wrong you are.

  • Does anyone know if EA has Social Anxiety Disorder?? :)

  • @ladyreepirate i know she has bi-polar

  • @ladyreepirate Heh, considering how talkative she was with the 50 or so VIP ticket holders at the concert i was at last week, I'd say no, not at all :) She was one of the nicest, sweetest, and honestly caring people I've ever met

  • Album of covers ^^

  • If you're not already a fan of Emilie Autumn, you're not going to like this song. Her way of singing is different, but it shouldn't be deemed as bad. She may sound off-pitch at times, but she intentionally does that so the tune isn't so repetitive. And her 'whining' is to convey melancholy. She is trying to sound more emotional than pretty, because pretty doesn't always arouse the emotions depicted in songs.

  • emily browning did it way better.

  • @lilithstrange

I'm a massive fan of Emily Browning; she didn't.

  • I love harpsichord. Morrisey sounds like Kermit a bit. Emilie resembles a goose call at times. I love both of their voices. Love 'em.

  • I think her singing is great, but the harpsichord kind of ruins it. This song should, in my opinion, only be played on the piano.

  • I love this song. I love The Smiths. I love Perks of Being a Wallflower. And I love this cover. <3

  • I just recently finished reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and this song (The Smiths version) plays a very big role in the book, so I decided to look it up. When I found this version, I nearly screamed. <3

  • @PinkPlaguerat where do you get this song? i cant find it :(

  • @swtrvnge its from her opheliac - deluxe edition album (;

  • I like it, but really wish it was just Emilie singing, or just her and the violin. That would be amazing.

  • this is so beautiful

  • Nice. Not as sad as The Smith's version. I"m gonna listen to it again, I like her voice.

  • This is amazing, but it's making me kinda sad, I mean, it's a sad song... XD Gonna go listen to some PARTYIN songs!! XD

  • Beautiful!

  • I'M SORRY, NOW CAN YOU PEOPLE PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE??

i have like 20 something comments from you people, i'm sorry for talking trash about this girl.

  • @MsLissa69 unfortunatley thats what happens when u comment on emilie autumn videos negatively. its like... the world will kill u hahaha. cuz EA is like...not ur average singer. her fans (me being one) look at her almost as if she is family. haha.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow! I just love it!!

  • This is a a beautiful interpretation. She's no Morrissey - but I mean, who is? Obviously, though, the song genuinely means something to her and I think she deserves respect for that.

  • it sounds so jumbled, really loud and then quiet sometimes

  • the harpsicore killed it for me

  • Butchered this? OK, that was my first reaction and it was insensitive. The conflict is my incomparable attachment to the untouchable beauty of original-The Smith version. Smiths- reminds me of my dad, when I watched him die. My explanation is Emotional attachment > this song.

----And.... well her voice isn't too great. This is coming from someone whose name is actually "Emilie" with an "ie" as well.

  • Please don't take this as an insult, but I feel like this cover lacks the raw emotion that the original projects.

  • God, so beautiful. </3

  • imo she sounds like she's whining not singing.

makes me think that everyone can whine to a microphone and call it a cover.

  • @Sonderczyni Not exactly whining..shes stretching it out to sound like its painful to sing the song.

  • @Sonderczyni you go ahead and try it and see how that works out for you compared to this

  • I ment " such an interesting cover. Love the different instruments" lol She's got a great voice!

  • Wow! Such an inwteresting cover! Love the differ

  • I saw Emilie Autumn like last year, really wish she'd sung this!!

  • she's so beautiful :(

  • you know, the problem about a cover ist that most people spend too much time on comparing it to the original or another version. :3

im gonna delete those non-constructive comments anyways, so just listen to the songs you like, please (:

    you dont like this song? its ok, just go and listen to the one you prefer (;

  • @PinkPlaguerat constructive criticism is fine, but just criticizing is ignorance, im yet to hear a women cover this song and myself to like it,

but there is far worse songs out there, and comparing it to that i would take this all day long,

thumbs up to you for having great taste in music to say the least :) all the best

  • :( Why?

  • good job EA

  • If all you are going to say is "I don't like it" then just hit dislike and leave it at that please. If you are going to waste time on a comment, at least make it constructive.

(i.e. "I don't like the choice of instruments, because..." or whatever it is you have a problem with)

  • um. not a fan. sorry. kind of try hard? dunno.

  • :S not quite what I expected after Emily Browning

  • @Maschinenzebra What were you expecting?

  • I think it's beautiful.

And all with negative opinions should shut the fuck up

  • eehh.. i guess its alright.. no offense shes good. but i like the smiths version better :)

  • Maybe the sound is unclear -maybe it is a home made version- but yet it is lovely, like someone said earlier, no computer arrangments. It's ok that people like better Emily Browning version, -it's a more mainstream and softer version-, but don't throw Bull Shit if u don't know what u talk about.

  • Im sorry, but I have to choose Emily Browning's version. All the way. Much better.

  • What emotions and feelings i had for The Smiths/ Emily Browning version of this song, this just killed it. Horrible.

  • I Love Emily. Bee.<3 c;

  • @FuFuTheGreatx :No . Emily Browning -________-

  • @PunkAssJessShuffles Why are you commenting on an Emilie autumn video.. That you love emily browning?

  • You can't discuss about your taste in music, it's all fckng personal you know

  • emilies is better ♥♥ ♪♪

  • emily browning is great! ok! but nothing will beat emilie autum and her beautiful voice! she is not the same as every other female singer out there! i luv u emilie dear!

  • Emilie , your voice brings tears to my eyes .

    Its just too beautiful .

Every one of your songs I love with all my heart .

You have helped me through life , and for that I thank you with all I am .

My Love For You Is Unfathomable ♥

  • I'm a total nerd for The Smiths. While there is no comparison in my mind (Morrissey has the best voice for this particular song), Emilie did a wnderful job, but it just doesn't tug at my heartstrings to hear her sing it. It just doesn't have that same haunting effect that The Smiths had. I cry when I hear Morrissey sing it, but when Emilie sings...I just think her voice has a more whimsical quality.

  • Morrissey > all covers. But this is great :)

  • well... We all agree that she has more emotion.

But I'm not seeing how Emily's is prettier than Emilie's :3

  • I think this is pretty I love the voice cracks they mad me cry

  • This made me cry when I first heard it... ;_;

  • Emily Browning's version may be prettier, but it's completely without emotion. Emilie breaks away from the usual notes and makes her voice sound strained or cracked at times. She INTENTIONALLY does that to express more emotion, as if singing is hurting her. I don't like Emily's because it is boring and has no uniqueness of it.

It isn't about who is better or worse, people!

Some people like pretty, unchanging patterns and some people like emotion, no matter how strange it sounds.

  • you know, i like Emily's and Emilie's versions. Both of them. Gonna check out the original now.

  • I looked up the Emily Browning version. It's prettier, hands down. And totally lacks emotion in all its prettyness...unlike this version.

  • Emily Browning FTW her version is much better in my opinion,go check it!

  • I like this song. Sad to say (?) I like Emily Browning's version better. Sorry (?)

  • @Roo520 I do as well.

  • Emilie Browning did a cover of this song, and wasn't it much longer???

  • @Serena96 Yeah, but all the songs from the Sucker Punch soundtrack were much longer than the originals. There was a lot of remixing and instrumental involved, since the fight scenes revolved so heavily around the music {:

  • lovin this version just as i am emily brownings....

alot of thanks to the smiths

  • Carissa's Wierd version is pretty good too.

  • EA's cover is so much better than that other girl's. For me, this conveys so much more emotion. The other one felt... empty. EA puts soul into this song.

  • She's not a bad singer, but this song isn't for Autumn. She sounds terrible singing this song. It's off key and doesn't match with the music's tempo at ALL. Her voice seems a bit too high for this

  • This is rad.

Just cause it's different doesn't mean it is bad.

Emily Browning is my favorite actress since forever, and I guess I technically like her version better too, but this is amazing as well.

  • Ok, no offense, but Emily Browning's cover of this song is better than this one...Emilie Autumn doesn't have the voice for this song...

  • Steven Patrick Morrissey's voice suits this song, not this, nor Emily Browning.

  • I adore Emilie Autumn, but...

Emily Browning's voice was perfect for this song.

  • OK... I like emilie's singing actually I can say I love it..... but this is not her best song.. i prefer emily browning's version...

  • I really didn't like Emily Browning's version, mind you I do like suckerpunch. Emily Browning voice to me is typical, she isn't a huge singer because she sounds just like every other overemotional white girl, not to say she's a bad singer. Autumn has a voice hard to copy, unlike Browning. Autumn's voice is raw and she sings with freedom, which to me has a greater emotional impact, which is why I like it.

But honestly, the best version of this was The Smiths.

  • @Amiiilie I completly agree

  • This is cool.. but not as nice on the ears as Emily Browning's.

  • Anyone Can "Sing" A Song. But In Order For People To Want To Listen To It You Have To Get Connected With It On A Personal Level. With That Being Said I Think Emily Browning Did An Amazing Job, And Much Much Better Than This Emilie. I Mean Sure She Has A Good Voice, Just Not For This Song. Too High Pitched And Very Off Key.

  • Oh.. That's special.. I'm Sorry I don't like this that's so.. Strange.. Really.. ><

  • I hate to be rude, but goodness. This was very off key, I didn't like it at all :L

Emily Browning sings it much better.

  • Emily Browning sings this better, I do like Autumn, but Browning just has a smoother voice.

  • Damn, I like this.

  • I love it. Emily Brownings is better, but this sounds more like the original.

  • this is so horrible (NOT AN OPINION I'M TELLING YOU) go look up Emily Browning Asleep Lyrics, know she can sing this song right.

  • seriously?:P everyone has a different opinion, you can't just tell us what's good or bad, we can figure that out for ourselves. it's alright if you dont like this version, no one tells you to like it (;

  • @MsLissa69 Can't you guys understand? She's clearly chosen to cover this song as it conveys beautifully how tired she is of her disease, her Bipolar depression, how she's giving up on life and that all she wants is it to be over...Way better Personal conviction and emotional connection than Emily Browning's version, which frankly sounds really computerized. Her voice is raw and desperate, it breaks during the harshest moments of the song, as she's begging to be free. :'(

  • @55Zoef exactly :3 ♥

  • @55Zoef See, this is the meaning, even if her abilities are only able to do what you said, it enhances the meaning to where it doesn't matter. I personally love the general 'sound' of her voice, the style it sounds of singing. Reminds me of a band a friend of the family is in, which, her singing is similar to this (the friend's), well, when mournful, but, the general sound of the voice.

  • @55Zoef xxsosaedicreidxx:(

  • @MsLissa69 Haha I agree. The banjo or whatever it is is distracting and annoying. Emily Browning did the Smiths more justice, IMO.

  • @MsLissa69 so the smiths sang it wrong although they sang it first....

yeah everyone has the right to their opinion and yes i do think Emily Browning did an aamazin job. but to think u know who sang it better is rude. and i'm TELLING YOU you are wrong by saying that she sings it 'right' there is no right or wrong way but if u wanna say some one sang it right it would be The Smiths since its THEIR song. get it right or shove it bitch

  • @MsLissa69 Erm...I completely agree with you, she's really bad. The original is absolutely amazing and this just kills it...

  • @MsLissa69 Something that is not a FACT is and OPINION.

  • @MsLissa69 Look up The Smith's version. They can sing it right.

  • @MsLissa69 I'm an Emily Browning fan too, and I love her version, but this is awesome, cuz it's got so much more emotion... Emily's version is great in its own way, and this version is great in its own way too :)

  • @MsLissa69

I'm afraid you can't TELL us anything whatsoever.

What you have said IS an opinion.

    Everybody has different ones.

    You should really learn that.

  • @MsLissa69 haha im sorry but emilies is way better she sings the song way better ... it probably sounds different to you because emilie autumn can sing this song with higher notes the other chick is only a alto and emilie is a soprano who can sing anything from a octave scale.

  • @MsLissa69 You're pathetic. Now return to your cave.

  • @MsLissa69 if you're gonna hate on this version, at least back the best version. the smiths. i for one thought this was a really good cover, though

  • @MsLissa69 Are you implying that you can tell us what we as individuals think? Because, that's soo... PRISSY.

  • This is soooo off that I CANT stand it

  • this is not her best work, i dont like it, not that i dont like emilie autumn i love her but i dont like the song.

  • This version is pretty good, but I prefer the original version from The Smiths or the cover from Emily Browning. But it's still good (:

  • oh my god this is horrible

  • @Hateddevil nooo, this is amazing :D

  • @PinkPlaguerat you might want to point out that the Smiths originally did this song. Whether you like this version more or not.

  • @DarkGabriel3 will do, but most people know anyways (:

  • personally I think the original is the best. <3

  • @pteronoid but doesn't the out-of-tempo-ness help express the whole point of the song ? As if she's playing the song whilst slowly drifting off. (:

  • @liekurface you seem to not understand how it feels this state of the mind when you want to fall asleep and never wake up, its not like this song, is more like emily's browning version, or other calm songs... this song is like sonfusing feelins "aaa, dont know what to do, what to feel!!!" but instead it should be like you dont care anymore of anything, and i mean ANYTHING, your perfectly calm and there are no feelings, no love, no hate, your words are just "good bye"....

  • @pteronoid PS: this is NOT a hate comment, its more of a constructive critique (i hope they will read this) emily Autumn has a great voice, but this song IMHO isn't by far as good as how it should be...

  • its pretty good :) great job plagurat :D

  • This is probably my favorite version of this song - maybe other than the origional. I find with EA, she puts feeling into her song. She puts her stamp on it, and hell is it a stamp. I find the music, the harmonys in the instruments, I find that stunning and unique. How often do you find something like this, with a backing like this? Nothing is perfect. Not in everyones eyes. But this is pretty damned well close in my opinion.

  • Well um I love the tune!!!!!!!! And I think this is very unique....But, well, her voice was kind of strained and wacky lol and the lyrics were beautiful! But they didn't go with the music :( sorry for all the buts, and this is great! But not my taste :)

  • Is it bad that Emilie Autumn is my favourite singer ever and I didn't know this was a cover until just now? xD I honestly thought she wrote it

  • I do like the fact that the tempo was a little discordant with the rest of the sound. It's almost like a metaphor for the disharmony inside someone who can't fall asleep because the feelings inside them keep them awake.

  • I disliked, why? because the music hurts my ears, i mean it sounds like it is played by someone without aregular tempo... i'm not a musician, i'm just enjoying music, and i apreciate quallity! music means harmony of sounds, and this one isn't... the lirycs are good, but the music.... i'm glad that i heard emily brownings version first.... also remeber this is my IMHO!!!

  • @pteronoid aw you really think so? ): well its your opinion and im glad you didnt just write something like 'she sucks' etc ;) i really love her voice and music, and this cover is amazing, i can feel her emotions.. and covers are always different (like the tempo ;) ), would be boring if they all were similar to each other, ey? ;D

  • @PinkPlaguerat her voice is the good part of this version, i don't have anything against this Emilie nor the song, i like the lyrics... yet i have a problem with the music, i mean the composer... i guess.... you it is said that something is perfect when you don't have the add/remove something in order to make it more "perfect"... well, i my ears think that this particulary song could sound a little better with such a good voice, they've wasted some very good potential here... and again imho.. :)

  • @pteronoid i agree with you i like emily browning and the smiths version........

  • I honestly hate most covers of this song, but this is amazing!

  • Lol some many Emilie's (and one with a Y) and I love all of them!~

  • i didnt listen to this song until the day suckerpunch came out (my fav movie of all time) and it was in that movie. the film reminded me sooo much of emilie and just now finding out she actually covered this song aswell as whoever covered it for suckerpunch made me actually so excited i could diiiiie!

  • Emilie's is amazing. I love how real her voice is.

  • Love, love, LOVE!!!!!

  • I Like Emily Browning's version of this song on the Suck Punch Soundtrack too =)

  • I feel like this song would be in a musical of some kind.

  • Screw Emily's version; I prefer Emilie's.

  • Morrissey and EA. My two loves. Oh joy.

  • absolutely murdering the replay button<3

  • Emily Browning does this song so much better.

  • @crazydenae No doubt.

  • This version is nothing compared to the original. i thought it'd be way better, but it doesn't sound as meaningful by her

  • i think i've found my new lullaby XD sorry nightwish

  • Do want.

  • i think i enjoy the lyrics to this song a bit too much at the moment.

  • Love this song so much. I rlly feel the lyrics and this version is so perfect.

  • I love Emilie. So much.

  • I can't believe it, but I have always been a hardcore Smiths/Morrissey fan, but honestly I'm in love with her voice.
