  • got one for free at wii4free[dot]info

  • I prefer putting Wii before Nes myself, just rolls off the tongue: Wii/Nes!

  • so zero mission is just a remake? so if i played it there is no reason to get the original right?

  • This intro for this review freaking rocks

  • Great now I have to find noscreenname1's comment...

  • You know what's sad? I didn't know Samus was a girl until the Super Smash Bros. Brawl trailer in 2008. I never played Metroid when I was young and when I saw Zero Suit Samus in the trailer I was like "OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!"

  • Awesome review. Hm, maybe I'll play it sometime later this month since I can play it on Prime. Though I think I wanna finish this rom hack of Super Metroid I've been playing 1st. Love the Thundercats shirt btw.

  • Is there anyone else besides me that finds the game so hard that finds the game so hard that you HAVE to use NARPAS SWORD?

  • This is still my favourite Metroid. I love the foreboding feeling you have being mapless and not knowing what's around that next corner.

  • Kwing,

Will you be doing reviews for either of the gameboy Metroid games?

  • @DigiParadise

Yes Im planning Fusion this Nov

  • @kNIGHTWING01 is it gonna be mid november

  • @kNIGHTWING01 -runs and marks Nov. on calendar-

  • trying to implicate this rule with my son with his wii...made him finish mario before we got him kirby then made him finish that before we got him donkey kong..he loves the old school too tho..he's blazing megaman 2,mario3 and adventure island inbetween..I will train the young one well ;) he's only 5

  • this guy looks like an older version of me

  • Completely ahead of its time, one of the best games on arguably the best console ever, and kick started one of the best series in all of video gamedom... an 8 seems offensive.

  • And to think the dipshits at gamespot gave this game a 5 out of 10.

  • I actually kind of enjoyed the lack of a map system in this game - it forced you to either use your memory or draw your own map, which is what I did. I thought it lent a stronger feeling of really going spelunking and exploring without a map telling you exactly where you were. I'm not gonna lie, though - for a game in which so many of the corridors look practically identical, it got difficult keeping a map at times because I couldn't always tell whether or not I had somehow backtracked.

  • /watch?v=B5dmtT6Iqv8

  • I get what you mean about beating games. I havent beaten Kirby's Epic Yarn(I know its an easy game but I think its too overrated to be entertaining...But i loved the King Dedede fight),Zelda:Twilight Princess,(The big bug FREAKS ME OUT LIKE CRAZY)or Metroid Prime 3

  • Why do people say ZEEBES, it's pronounced Zebez. With both "E"'s being pronounced like you would the "E" in Leg.

  • The famicom music was only a pubic hair better

  • i beat zero mission but i cant beat the original even with the save option the zero mission version offers

  • I remeber I spent 4 months to complete the game.

Its just a 25 kb file.

    Old developers were geniouses.

  • is it possible to save in the virtual console version?

  • @Blutroth No, but thats where going back to the wii menu from the home button on the wii remote and picking up right where you left off as if you never left comes in handy. It works with all VC games in case you didn't know.

  • did u do metroid prime yet

  • I like ur voice but u don't look how u sound, u always sound excited

  • the music at 5:26, what was that music called?

  • freaks!!!!

  • where did you find these songs remix? All I can find is the original songs.

  • is the music we are hearing from the japanese version?

  • @dokidoku26

Arrangement tape for the soundtrack for the game. It was only available in Japan and side two was Kid Icarus.

  • You forgot:1.long boring coridors

    2. enemys doing way too much damage

    3. only starting with 30 energy

    4. glicthy controls & items

    5. graphics looking like someone barfed

    6. extremly cryptic passages

7.super annoying sound effects ( low energy beeping noise)

    8. lack of story ( in actual game, not zero mission)

  • @noscreenname1 nit pick nit pick

  • @krazykillerhippo It's hard to find something good about this game so I believe kNIGHTWING01 is the one who's nit picking.

  • @noscreenname1 1. Long corridors to make confusing

    2. Enemies provide actual challenge (you just suck)

    3. 30 energy for more challenge so you build it up and find energy tanks

    5. Olden day 1986 graphics (because you're a fag with high expectations)

    6. Passages that make you use your brain (because yours is tiny)

    7. Old sound effects make great

    8. It's not about the story you dumbass

  • @ranchnugget 1. There have been nes games with great graphics before 1986

2.30 energy forever unless you grind for an hour and energy tanks once in a millenium

3.BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP does not make the game great when you're almost dead

4.Every game's practically BASED on the story

5.Clearly you like annoying passagesthat have no indication whatsoever

6.Not my fault the ice beam sucks

  • @noscreenname1 1. Game made on low budget

    2. Requires you to smartly plan the order to your item collection

    3. introduced speedrunning and female protagonists into gaming

    4. Ice beam is a way to get around low budget (and it's actually creative, seems like you can't appreciate that)

    5. The game gives plenty of story, you just seem to not know that games in that time (except for like Ninja Gaiden) had very little story

6.Don't get low health and it won't beep

    YOU ARE B.D.= Big Dumby

  • @ranchnugget So you never get low health in the game?

  • @noscreenname1 When I first played it, I died like every two minutes. The second was a little bit better. But by the 3rd time, it was almost a cake walk.

  • @noscreenname1 And sorry about calling you BD, I was just joking

  • @ranchnugget guess they failed on "Smartly planning the order of your item collection" The game can be beat with 40 missiles in under 25 minutes..Ether way..Good job on calling people dumb on the internet really brings out your tuff insecure issues... Just what we like to see

  • @davidgsr2k ok

  • @ranchnugget exactly, if you want a story,go read a book .

  • is the wii version free ? sry new to wii

  • @xx1zp Its not free it cost 500 wii points or 5 dollars if you live in usa

  • @Crashgamer100 how do you get wii points ?

  • @xx1zp You can go to a video game store and buy a wii points card or use a credit card to get them. Hopes this helps! :)

  • @Crashgamer100 thanks :D

  • @xx1zp Yay im helpful <('.'<)

  • freaking repeating rooms screw me every time and i wish i didnt have to die to save.

  • I used this video for research.

I just finished publishing my novelization of the Manga! Everything you will need to know about Samus is in my new book. Look for it on "blurb dot kahm!"

    Six bucks!

  • I HATED Metroid. I could not get ANYWHERE on that game. Zero Mission was way more fun and easy. Not to mention you had the ability to shoot DIAGONALLY. That's a big deal.

  • @SkittlesTheLucario see metroid other m

  • @superok1010 About what? lol How it's supposedly hard to shoot at some points? I would know, but the game I got the day it came out hasn't been opened just yet due to my busy schedule.

  • 3:27 I love the stuff shooting at me. Thats what she said!

  • 8? 8?! #%@^$@ EIGHT?!

    MUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDER!!!

Though seriously if Metroid isn't a 9 or 10 then what games on NES are? It may not be the best NES game, but top 10 on the system without a doubt.

  • i mean how hard could it be 4 them 2 do that,u can turn into the ball @ almost anytime & its 3rd person, there might even b a code 2 do it like there is 4 hunters on the ds(but its not that great),a full reworking of the prime series with 3rd person & extra levels would b awesome,& they should re do other m 2,or make a sequel but have it use the analog on the nunchuck& maybe include the 1st other m but with the new control, have it as a bonus after u beat the game,&fix the missle/power colection 2

  • im so mad they fucked up other m,wheni saw it i was sooo excited, till i found out it wasnt really 3d &didnt use the analog,i been waiting 4eva 4 a 3d 3rd person game&i thought i was fianly going to get 1 with other m and the enemies&graphics looked great so i thought it would be the ultimate 3d tru 2 the series game, but iwas wrong, they fucked up the missle and power collection 2,u just concentrate, thats lame, they should remake the prime series with a 3rd person option, that would rock,

  • aren t you gonna get mario sports mix for wii kwing

  • @ohhchic

Yes I am actually, cause of I want to play as the Final Fantasy Ninja Again!

  • Not gonna whine over a 8/10 BUT ... You didn't talk about the Prime trilogy.

In overall ... You made a good review.

  • hey luke i have a question i got into metroid couple years ago with prime trilogy and other m should i buy metroid and super metroid on the vc? well later luke sincerely RvBVic

  • so, now I know why screwattack is filled with metroid fanboys

  • I love this review... but you have not pronounced hardly any of the names right

  • @ranchnugget okay i can answer this one for kwing / luke ill explain this as best i can for luke he has add so it takes a little bit longer for him to type and or pronounce things correctly but still as it stands he is most honest reviewer u will ever listen too also the fact he is dedicated to his fans and kwing knows that i understand what his learning disability does to him so i hope that helps and luke if u respond to this im just trying to help you out as a friend

  • @RvBVic

Sure thats fine and thanks man.

  • "Kill Mode"? Now I want a Japanese copy.

  • ... Thunder Cats shirt?

  • mega man + zelda + kid icarus = metroid

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Kwing love your show. Did you know there's a game on the internet called super mario crossover? It's the classic super mario bros. game, but with a twist. A few extra nes charcters have been added to the mix. Link, mega man, simon, bill r.,samus, and then the seqel has ryu. The music changes for each charcter so you'le allways hearing your favorette tunes while you play. So give it a try. =) P.S. thanks for not swearing I don't get in trouble because of swearingso thanks.

  • @TheKalrulesify

Ive heard of it, haven't had time to play it though, your welcome for not swearing. Have a good day.

  • @kNIGHTWING01 did you say nosefair instead of nofair

  • @kNIGHTWING01 Will you review Metroid 2?

  • @kNIGHTWING01 love ur vids keep them coming

  • i called them spaghetti O's too, haha! Also, i can't believe kid icarus is actually considered longer. Because it took me 3 days to beat kid icarus the first time i played it. But it looks me months to beat metroid and i had to use a map on the internet eventually because of all of the times you would have to bomb out the floor.

  • nice review. my favorite game was also super metroid. i think that was the game i ever fully beat back in my childhood.

  • "mneh how did i die because of spagettios??"

  • I like this game, I still play it a lot, but it didn't age as well as super metroid :(

Also, The ad I just had was awesome! why? it had a SKIP BUTTON!!!!

    :D All ads need that!!!!!

  • I don't ever get the varia anymore. Doesn't really serve a useful purpose other than raising your D.

  • Still the best Metroid. Hard as fuck and hella fun. Ain't even got a map. That lowered the difficulty too much. It's way more fun mapping everything in your head.

  • 10mintutes of a good review for a classic game good sir I salute you for this review!

  • @GeneralZergie

Thanks happy to hear you liked it. 208 more just like it on my channel.

  • @kNIGHTWING01 Hey dude whats your strategy for Kraid?

  • @kNIGHTWING01 What happens if the planet explodes. Will you get a game over

  • @pwwnd123

Yes it will end in Game Over.

  • @kNIGHTWING01 awww

    no wtfboom?

lol that would have been funny.

  • this is my favorite shooting Platformer series of all time. and Prime series is my favorite 1st person shooters. from metroid to Metroid other m: I LOVE METROID!!!

  • @FAWFUL32 is not a shooter :s

  • @METROIDROCKSXP98 it was a platform shooter though. as samus obviously shot enemies while she walked on platforms lol.

  • este sem dúvidas foi um dos melhores jogos de todos os tempos e com certeza uma das melhores sagas é sempre bom relembrar bons jogos como este nós jogadores das antigas que acompanhamos a evolução dos games agradecemos. parabéns!!!

  • This is another one of those "games-I-can't-play-because-they-are-too-old". I first played Zero Mission on the GBA (which is an AWESOME remake, every Metroid fan should own that version), and you got the original as an unlockable. I just couldn't played through it having experienced Zero Mission and Super Metroid. This is the only Metroid I haven't completed (well, this one and Metroid Prime Pinball)

  • @kNIGHTWING01 Wow! I have never seen a review this detailed before! Your reviews are the best!

  • @TheGameSquid metroid prime pinball is a joke xD

anyways, you should play the original, one thing i like about it more than zero mission is the amount of freedom you get. in zeromission they pretty much tell you where to go and tell you you have to do things in a certain order.

  • @TheAesirGod True, that's the only thing about it that I didn't like either. It isn't any more linear than the game it was based on, but the marks on the map are hard to ignore so I always ended up following them anyway...

  • @TheGameSquid thats not the only thing.. like, i love zero mission, it was my first metroid game, but the original just created this sense of isolation and freedom that is kind of lost in zero mission.

  • played it on the GBA as a bonus feature on zero mission.

terribly sorry, this game sucks ass, i just cant stand it... maybe it's just the gba version... but this is frustrating as hell

  • @Yorsefener yes its frustrating... but i'm guessing you haven't played many nes games....

metroid is a great series, and you have to keep in mind... it was the nes... they couldn't do allot of the stuff that they can now (obviously).

  • in my opinion metroid is way better than mario but i like mario games to but metroid has better story and gameplay

  • @chucky666jack666 i agree, but mario is more popular and is essentially nintendo's face.

  • @TheAesirGod True Metroid just didn't appeal to a wide enough audience and Kid Icarus didn't get enough exposure. I love that game and it plays very much like albeit somewhat more difficult than even 3. The castles are very well designed. It's fun just to run around and explore.

  • @Luigi84289 yea, thats true, metroid and kid icarus weren't nearly as popular as mario, even though they are better, imo. i'm pretty excited for Kid Icarus Uprising ^^

  • @TheAesirGod I like Mario more but these guys aren't far under it.

  • the intro hurts my ears

  • this game is so friggin hard!

at least i beat it 1 time honestly.

and 10 times with the NARPAS SWORD0 000000 000000 code.

  • Whats The Song At 2:07.

  • i think its amazin how retro studios made 3 epic games from this concept

  • @daftpunk149 agreed, however you should remember they had way more to go off of after metroid 2 and Super Metroid released and paved way

  • @ShadowStar1224 You just suck at it. If it was really as bad as you say it is, it wouldn't be so damn popular.

  • @PIEDol Lol logic. I hate to advertize, but please watch my review on my channel. My voice quality might not be as good as Kwing's, but I get my point across.

I bet you haven't even played the game, have you?

  • @ShadowStar1224 I have. On console, PC, and even on my freaking phone. I personally think this game rocks. But fine, I'll watch your vid and comment there.

  • i would have givin it 7/10 but thats mostly cuz a lot of the places look very similar and there was no map but thats just me

  • @JexKotetsu Maps are for noobs.

  • @pirox1234

i like maps thanx it a part of the game in enjoy if you enjoy getting lost have fun with that but ill enjoy the game the why i want too

  • that wasn't the starting video, that was a start video of its remake. the password you enter in the title menu. i would give the game a 4. it's too damn difficult. (you start with 30% health and regain 5% for each health sphere.) even with invincibility code, there are no maps and each room is just about looks exactly alike so it is east to get lost. (i used the map from the remake "zero mission") and the bosses aren't very creative. it's like a contest on who can kill each other first.

  • Please do a Metroid Prime review

  • Wait a minute- How could you not know that Samus was a girl if you had already heard her girl voice in the starting video?

  • Planet zeebs... Lol good job!

  • lol a chick would have a ability called the "screw attack"

  • shave and cut your hair

  • @goph000 1: That video is more than 1 year old

    2: Your not his mother...

  • amazing i live the Metroid series and are looking out for them all. i do not know how though to use yhe pass word system.

  • Samus is my favorite heroine!

  • I really want to try a Metroid game. Thus, I pre-ordered Other M at gamestop. the gameplay looks really good!

  • @DestinyHeroFlamer same.... im gunna get mertoid prime hunters is it good? if it's bad im gunna get metroid pinball..

  • There actually is a way out of the lava at 8:20. You just have to jump a whoooole bunch and try to hit the jump button as soon as you touch the lava and you'll be able to jump off of the top of the lava and jump higher (they brought back this feature in Super Metroid).

  • do you think the nes classic version for gba is just as good? should i get it? or is it as challenging as kid icarus?

  • I give this game 15/10

  • I always thought Fuzzies were just as annoying as Metroids.

  • Metroid rocks!

  • What do you mean this game paved the way for Castlevania, both were released the same year?!

  • 8:28 Mantén presionado Derecha en el controlador 2 y presiona A en el controlador 1. super jump

  • love this review and scene some others! +1 subscriber! =D

  • Where did you get that brinstar remix?

  • wtf why dint people get that it's ZEB-ES.NOT ZEEBS ZEB-ES OK ZEBES

  • should i get metroid(nes) or the legend of zelda(nes) for the virtual console?

  • @iammarcom zelda

  • man i love your channel with a passion. one of the very few real gamers thats make videos. THANK YOU

  • Comment removed

  • Did anyoneever notice the morph ball artifact looks like pepsi's logo?

  • @D0OMZ4 i'm sure metroid had the first logo then pepsi jumped on the popularity of metroid

  • happy birthday to ME :D

  • Oh-no how did i die because of spaghettios?

  • It's not impossible to get out of those pits, so long as you have the bombs and the high jump. If you use a bomb, and let the bomb propel you, you can jump again while in midair. I don't know why, but I never had much trouble remembering where I was in this game - it was the dungeons in Phantasy Star 2 that always confused the hell outta me.

  • OMG... i never played this game.... i played zero..... and Kraid is pathetic in nes one..... in the gameboy one hes so awesome........

  • @annoyingmish Visually, Kraid and Ridley were lame looking back in NES, but in terms of difficulty, those two were WAY too easy on the gameboy advance remake. Also, if you do have zero mission, you know you can unlock the NES version in there right?

  • @elvampe13 Yeah i know but i saw no point in playing it once i finished zero mission

  • the game is relly confusing with the big exploration area but one of the most fun games ive ever played

  • 'Spaghettios of death'

i laughed my ass off. but its true, those spaghettios of death can really piss you off

  • 00:56 - Giygas on Metroid!

  • 3:30

i love the stuff shooting at me =P

  • I always thoughtit was zee bez not zeebz

  • Comment removed

  • At the 3:30 to 3:37 mark; ou pronounce NORfair as NOSEfair. WTF? Its "Nor" , not "Nose" !! Please get your planet sections correct if you love this game so much as you say. This game is 25 years old, so you have no excuse:) But I like the review. Playing this game for 20 years. Awesome it was and is. RIP Gunpei Yokoi.

  • @gumdo666 I know your comment are 4 months old, but whatever.

I'm pretty sure it was actually called Nosfair in the original Metroid, probably bad translation or something, but I'm pretty sure that's what it was.

  • It always annoys me (but only a little) how everyone pronounces Samus's last name as "Ah-RAN," even when the name is pronounced in the games (Rime 3 and Other M) as "Aaron" or "Erin."

  • @bluetube01 Amen to that bro.

  • I need to get a cpature card and review this game with more than one word.

  • yep, Metroid rules

  • LAWL, NO FAIR

  • I always thought it was" Zeebeth" cause its spelled "zebeth" in the original metroid...

  • I fell in the same pit, but I got out by dropping a bomb, while in ball form, then switching back and jumping at just the right time

  • Is it really pronounced "Zeebs?" All this time I've been saying "Ze' Bess" :(

  • Zeb-ies. like babies with a ze

  • @Yamigata The american way to say it is Zeebs. But the australian and british way to say it is Zeb-zzz

  • ROFL Ze Bess - yeah its Zeebs

  • Hah you think that's funny? Here's another one. I used to call her "Sa' Moose" XD But hey gimme a break that's all a part of old school gaming is mispronouncing things cuz there's no voice actor to set it straight.

  • I call it Zee-bees.

  • I've ALWAYS heard it pronounced as Zeeb-ess. Anyone who pronounces it as Zeebs is retarded.

That's a fact. Look it up.

  • And here's the thing you can look up. It's supposed to be a 2 syllable word. go to metroid(dot)wikia(dot)com/wiki/Zebes

    And I quote:

"Zebes has occasionally been mistranslated as "Zebeth", due to the fact that "s" and "th" make the same noise in Japanese pronunciation, though it has been confirmed that the planet's official name is Zebes. "

Now unless it is mistranslated as "Zeebth" rather than "Zebeth", logically this means that it is Zee-bess in pronounciation.

    You are welcome
