Nice visuals... Shame about the audio. I mean... WTF? Is this a relaxing massage video or a flight sim? Seriously... I just don't get why you'd take away the sound effects and overlay some cheesy massage music.
awesome system in terms of fps, but you really should learn how to properly fly a plane, and with the nose down way above the glideslope you shouldn't even consider attempting to land, but apply full To/Ga power and fly the missed approach procedure described in the chart.
Misjudged short final was not due to winds. Never have I ever seen or known high winds to make you that high on approach. Tailwinds, if anything, make you loose altitude, but if you're experienced enough, you should know to fly into the wind, which I may add, isn't capable of making you this high on short final. Throughout the video, you can clearly see you was too high anyway, which happens when misjudged or badly planned, but that's why there's always the option to go around. So unrealistic.
I've flown four types of airplanes as well as experienced CRJ-700 Initial training. If you have any qualms about anything I've said, go read the FAA Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge and The Airplane Flying Handbook, both of which are available for free from the FAA.GOV webpage in digital form. Simply put, please, just please stop talking and spare yourself any further embarrassment.
I'm not saying that this is the case for this video because i don't know or care ~I wasn't there, and a missed approach would have been a correct response. This is supposed to be fun for this person and you are being total douches. I've spent 4 years with my nose buried in these books and many others to Get my Bachelor's of Aeronatical Science, and all Airplane Land Ratings up to IFR + Commercial Multiengine.
A certain degree of a tailwind is acceptable for a landing from one type of plane to another as long as you don't violate your company's FAA-approved OpSpec, or any limitations published in the AFM for the aircraft. In conclusion, Tailwinds can result in a number of bad factors during an approach to a landing, and being high on short final is indeed one of them.
you typically look for a descent rate between 600 to 800 feet per minute on a visual and ajust thrust and pitch to follow the VGSI (visual Glide Slope Indicator) such as a PAPI, VASI, PVASI whatever~ or if flying an ILS, you maintain the glideslope, "why is there a variation or range in the descent rate from one approach to another?" you may ask, guess what? IT DEPENDS ON THE WINDS.
THIS IS EVEN A QUESTION THAT SHOWS UP IN THE FAA PRIVATE PILOT WRITTEN EXAM, and in the Instrument exam, both of which I can tell you have not taken. I would venture to guess it's even in the ATP written since that one's a mish mash of all the exams plus part 121 regs. Since Airline OpSpecs typically prohibit descent rates over 1000 feet per minute during the approach phase or in-flight spoiler below 1000 feet AGL,
therefore~ it results in a higher groundspeed, which results in the airplane needing to maintain a higher descent rate to maintain the same glidepath. Headwinds result in low groundspeeds, normal TAS and needing a lower descent rate.
Guys leave this guy alone. Again, this is an example non-pilots putting their two cents in and being wrong. A tailwind does NOT result in you losing altitude. Tailwinds mean faster travel and less fuel burn off, and no one loses a damn inch of altitude because of it. Lower dynamic pressure due to a lower true airspeed will exist, but power and angle of attack are increased to compensate for it. With the momentum the plane has at altitude it doesn't need much more thrust at all
Do not listen to any of disparaging douches~ if you have the dream, with the right training you can make a fine pilot in real life. It takes practice, a lot of reading and mental math but it's do-able. I wouldn't listen to what anyone has to say unless they can volunteer their credentials. Personally, I am an Intrument Rated Commercial Multiengine pilot and have 8 hours Level D CRJ-700 training. No real Pilot wants to discourage those who have the passion and potential to carry on this legacy.
If youre too high due to the wind, you have to reduce your speed. The result is that youvegot a better descent rate.....after youre on a good glidepath you should raise your speed to the LND ref speed.
very nice vid , i fly this beautiful bird in real life as well as the CL , ok you were a bit high , but it seemed u had a stable approach criteria and you still touched down within the touch down zone , good job , and keep on making more nice videos , cheers
i like the music you added to the vid , i can see u fly wiyh passion , good
Awesome video man, very real! my opinion, it would be better with real sounds since the simulaion looks very real. May i ask what r you computer specs? thanks!
too high approach, you should be 50 feet over the threshold of the runway, typical missed approach.... I am pretty sure you heard "sink rate, sink rate" :-), as said before, no continuous switches were on, no autobreak was set, no missed approach hdg was set, but anyway looks good, I liked it...
@gogamich Nah, it was still safe to land. It was not that high. I declare missed approach when it's not safe to land anymore. This was not such a case. Thanks for watching and commenting
@midoudaamasha How come so many thinks this landing is hard?-) I've done much worse landings than this, lol. I know how a really soft landing is like but what I also do know is that such a landing is not common either in real life. It is really likely you feel it clear enough when an airplane touchdown so that your head shakes :)
1. When you click fly now on fsx and the simulator starts do you start with the plane off and you have to do the start up procedures or is it running already?
2. Can you set the heading and navigation in the cockpit?
3. When you use the throttle with the joystick if you bring it all the way back will it go into reverse thrust or will it just stop ?
So your LGA 1156 and you add gtx 460 and run smooth except 460 I have same there for mine is running slow thanks now I got it you save me a lots of money
Nice .. but you forgot to turn the Engine start to Cont during the approach. and could u make a video showing the Nose of the aircraft from the Cockpit?
@B767rules "And a plane NEVER lands against the winds." Glad I don't fly with you. I suggest you read up about take off and landing before spouting such rubbish.
@FSDoctor76 Nice video and I'm surprised how smooth given your rig specs, that 737NGX shouldn't run on a 2.8GHz CPU ;-) LOL
6 gigs is more than enought for fsx. Even video editing does not get any performance boost from 12 gigs, IMO. Every rigs is and the use of it varies but I think 12 gigs is not needes for anything, at least not yet. And fsx runs well with any overclocked processor. i7 is not needed either. Pentium 4 with 4 ghz might run it as smooth as any unclocked i7.
@B767rules Thanks dude, means a lot you saying that! About the winds, I haven't really noticed that in my simulations, might be cause I descend slow on final (before I did way too fast) and usually quite heavy too cause I do not bother to calculate fuel very often. All I worry is the crosswinds cause they really push me off the rwy course. I'm only in a process of starting to feel more relaxed when that happens, lol.
Good video! As you came in on Rwy 20, figured there would be a wind issue :) 'Normal' landing is on 25L. being based at Zaventem, I've seen guys coming in higher than you did. Congrats!
@stoepe2 That's good to know. I think I would have been cleared for 25L but I ignored the fsx controller cause I wanted to test the FMC and had vectors for rwy 20, lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@ebksb123 Thanks for watching. Ah, could you be more specific on criticising my landing?-) The approach was fully visual and I gained altitude as I was strugling against the wind pushing from 5 a clock but it's a long runway so no need to burn extra simulation fuel for going around ;)
@FSDoctor76 Ok I'll try it ;) you seemed pretty high to me at about 1:00. I know winds are not always helpful, but by putting thrust to idle and nose down at 0 to -5° you'll always get down =) .You were also left from the runway until just before touchdown. Touchdown was difficult to see, but I think you can do that smoother!
You wanted it specific, there you have it :) I don't say I can fly perfect approaches and I don't say this is bad, I saw your other vids, I know you can ;)
@ebksb123 Perhaps better throttle control would be ideal, I should give it a try! But i'm afraid of a stall cause I like to approach nose up early to avoid the need for a sharp flare. But hey, it's good to have a feedback. I could not learn anything new if I'd make it perfect :)
But hey, I've made a long way. You should have seen it when I flew finals 180kts with a twin engine and bounced back to the air off the runway after touchdown ;)
@ebksb123 That I don't know but it's easier to land against the winds for sure. I ignored the atc on this one cause I wanted to give a chance for the FMC and chose path to rwy 20 before take off cause I'm way too lazy to change the flight plan while I'm descending to destination. So, no. This was not done according to every protocol. I was bad :)
@B767rules Your most hilarious moment was: "@FSDoctor76: And a plane NEVER lands against the winds. Always with the wind. If it lands against the wind then the wind will just lift it up again"

A bit high on approach though.
Maybe you need to enlist a virtual co-pilot who can dial speed, altitude, heading etc.. when your hands are full.
Try something called "Multi Crew Experience" voice control add-on for FSX & FS9 and see what I mean.
A Demo is available, and all you need is a headset with microphone to experience the thrill of voice control.

@FSDoctor76 Yeah, I've had my start, too... Was delighted when succeding caribbean landing without crashing...
Don't be afraid of a stall ;) If you put your nose down on -5°, you nearly have to put thrust to idle to hold your speed. Just try it out!
And I remembered one thing: Is a plane not supposed to land against the winds? :O
ebksb123 6 months ago
@ebksb123 That I don't know but it's easier to land against the winds for sure.
