I am glad you made this video to make more people aware of it. This book changed me forever. After i read it I felt a deep sense of content that never went away.
hello im spanish and dont understand very well what he says between 7.20 and 7.35, if one could writte it here or explain me more or less the idea..thanks!!!
@jruizdemena he says "if you're willing to put up with 10 years of being ignored, you're still wllling to put in effort, still willing to work hard and go for it but if you're not willing to put in that level of effort then i'm not sure"
This is so deep it took three watches to fully understand. What an intelligent man Joseph Campbell is. Of course, we shouldn't drown ourselves in optimism. However, it is important to find the balance between following what we love and being honest about our willingness t do something to admitting when it has gone too far or we just start getting overly optimistic.
@PhilosophersNotes Eh, this power of positive thinking trned isn't showing a disconnect between reality and internal reality for me. It's easy to be optimistic for a more subtle result and stop perfectionism, but some people use it to ignore potentially large pitfalls.
Bill Moyers was transformed in his belief after his interviews with Joseph Campbell. The Power Of Myth is the most informative book when it comes to understanding archetypes and how civilizations divided by oceans thousands of years ago had similar stories of creation and gods. Another great book by Campbell is The Inner Reaches Of Outer Space. Thanks for sharing this on youtube
Campbell changed my life for the better......:)

It seems that Joseph Campbell was influenced by the works of Carl Jung on the collective subconsciousness.
