woow!!!! i'm extremely impressed. thinking of having a pool aswell but the only thing holding me back is the contract price but after seeing this, i think i can actually do it myself. but i'll like to no, what exactly are the main equipments needed to build one including tool. please help me :)
You would be best getting the details from somewhere like PA Pools. Don't know where you are based, but they deliver the parts according to your specification and are very good on advice etc. It is a lot of work, and you will need an electrician and gas fitter. But it's a great project and we get loads of fun out of it now.

@gabrielirlanda Not sure what you mean about an iron grid? Are you talking about re-inforcing around the edges? It has 1.5 feet concrete band around the top which is sufficient.
And yes, it was truely a team effort; now it's a team passtime!
It did take almost a year, due to the fact that I was involved in 6 amateur dramatic shows that year and we had to dig most of it by hand. It is 1.4 metres deep. We opted not to have a deep end as it is better fun to be able to play in it e.g. polo etc. The deep end would mean that someone was treading water all the time.
I like your pool. I got one recently but it is above ground, but it is a metal frame which is cool. And it is 15x42 so it is really cool! But the only thing is that the water is COLD.But we got a solar pool cover to make the water warm when its sunny and it makes it warm. ;)
@The1Gillette Thanks for the comments. It was a labour of love, and definitely worth it in the end. But don't think I'll take on another project like that again; once is enough.
There is a bit more to it than that. You need to have a pump and sand filter at least to keep the water clear. I would suggest you contact a selp build supplier to check out how to do what you want
well im thinking of getting 1. but my plan is dirt chep. just a pool nothing elese. hole in ground i have a digger, blocks or concrete and liner.thats it. the rest i dont need just yet what do u think its gonna cost me? ill do all the work myself. top to bottom. thanks
I built it in spare timeafter work, and while trying to fit in many other things, e.g. amatuer dramatics. So it took about a year to build. Would take less if you can get a digger in the garden. Total cost came to about 20K as it has a heater, is fully automated and it has a stepped entrance which is costly. Happy to talk through the pros and cons with anyone who is considering building one as we I had never built one before this.
If you mean the actual walls, they are precast insulated panels. My guess is if you need blocks that big, you have probably got something or someone to bury; in which case you've got more problems than just looking for blocks, lol.
Not sure what you mean. If its at 3.44, it's the liner which fites into the pool and is a plastic inner, rather than tiling the entire area.
If that's not what you mean, maybe you are referring to the solar cover which is rolled up at the end of the pool. It is rolled out and floats on the water retaining the heat.
thats pretty cool..we are planning to build a swimming pool..what can you advise that we have to consider? can we make use of rocks instead of tiles? hope to hear from you thanks!
The pool is not tiled. It is a liner pool. I do not think you can use rocks. We removed tons of rubble and rocks from the site. This pool uses pre-fabricated insulated walls and a concrete base. A tiled pool is very costly and difficult to maintain. Consider what size you want. It is worth having it on a timer to filter the water etc. Don't know where you are based, but there is a massive difference in the cost of getting the gas boiler connected. Let me know if you need any more info.
Very, but not in the money sense. Rich in the sense that I have a lovely family and good friends. It cost about the same as building a new room on to the house.
All in it cost about £20k. That includes the boiler as it is heated. It also cost a considerable amount in concrete to back-fill the steps as we wanted a walk-in step arrangement for parents etc.
It took a little over a year, but then I do have a day job and took part in 6 amatuer dramatic performances that year too. Most of the year was spent worrying would it work when it was finally complete!
It might well have taken 6 weeks if I had not been working full time, and holding two voluntary trusteeships while also doing 8 stage performances during that year. Sorry, I guess I am human after all!
I love your pool - especially during the summer playing catch(or rather someone throws something, I miss it completely and walk the rest of the length of your garden to retrieve it!!
So lucky

Dirt cheap: you figure $1,000 for 1,000 gallons, complete, with pump and filter.
