@voksongs Well spotted, That was a cosmic ray strike! It's true, those high energy particles from outer space leave a little flash on the ccd chip. You don't often see them on a normal photo because of the very short exposures, but I get to see them all the time.

this was 10 times the distance of the moon away from earth. so there was no chance of it actually hitting earth

@T0B0KKE It's about 60m wide. That is the sort of size that made "Meteor Crater" on the US. Big enough to hurt!
