Contente de voir et d'entendre cette vidéo ! M. Germain Lefebvre était mon professeur de musique à l'école élémentaire à Laval-des-Rapides ! Il était tellement sympathique !
The first time I heard this piece was while watching President Eisenhower's funeral. I remember the National Cathedral organ blasting away at the end.
zeekwolfe: Eisenhower library checked and has NO footage of the choral piece. Their coverage starts at "Battle Hymn". Any ideas? Network archives, but I've tried before...not easy.
Didja catch those double-knit bell-bottoms on the choir director? Certainly dates this recording. This piece (Les Rameaux/The Palms) was performed at Eisenhower's funeral and was said to be his favorite church music selection. There are many performances on the 'net, but I like this the best. The organ is particularly good.
@jkftl The perfomance of "The Palms" at Dwight Eisenhower's funeral was the best version of this piece I have ever heard...and I've heard it a few times, to say the least. Even the atheist Russian foreign minister Andrei Gromyko was visibly moved at it's conclusion.
@jkftl To my knowledge a video or audio copy of Eisenhower's funeral service has never been released. It is possible that copies are available at the Eisenhower Library in Abilene, Kansas.
Good pipes,merci!

Magnifique voix de mon coin de pays qui sonne un peu comme notre Richard Verreau.
Je suis moi-même un tenor (dramatique) du quebec.

@zeekwolfe Are you saying the choral presentation at Eisenhower's funeral was recorded? How could I find a copy?

Do you know what key it is that he is singing it in?

Thank you! The choir has a beautiful blend, and this tenor, Paul Trepanier, is outstanding. What a rich and strong sound he has.
