If where going to talk about the reality of what fads and pop culture are, you are quite accurate on what "goth/emo" have become.

The new "goth/emo", is a kid wearing generic clothing his mom bought from Walmart with her child support money, who is also really eccentric and into drugs and (good) music.

@informatist - You're mistaking goth for emo. The difference, other than the cost of their clothes, is that Goth was viewed as depressed and seeking attention by the people on the outside, while emo was the children of the people on the outside looking at Goth and thinking 'whoa, look at all the attention that gets!'. Most people interested in goth culture aren't depressed, but neither do they pretend to be. (I won't say what they are since a thousand websites exist for that exact purpose.)
