My cat rarely speaks. I didn't even know she could(I'd adopted her a few years before) until one day about two years ago when she saw another cat passing the window. Last ast week I woke up to her yowling. My bed faces a window and a stray cat that she hates was sitting on top of my shed starring in on my cat and she was telling him what she thought! And the cat just lay there starring at my cat for at least 10 mintues! Who would have thought animals like to torment each other? lolol

My cat says the hello, Just repeat it in front of the cat, staring at him, not too slow not too fast.

 It took like 2 months, I didn't even do it everyday, one day she just said it, then I started using positive reinforcement and it became a habit.

The cats are just smart. When being around human language for 90% of their life they can easily catch on to specific words after hearing them enough. They are able to figure out how to... relatively pronounce them themselves.

Its same way with people, if you went to France, not knowing a lick of French, for 3 years, you would easily be able to understand what the people are saying!

It is beautiful when such fun is soooo natural. I have a cat (the long Johnson speaker) who is 26 yrs old; my vet says it is senile vocalization. So what...I love it all the same! Anyone else have a talking senior citizen?
