So true man the Shitty mainstream is always overrated. Real Goth music has always been and always will be underrated. Ive listen to some new Deathrock and Darkwave bands and it's now more underrated than what it was in the 80's. Currently the only thing that's keeping it active right now is "DeathRock" and "Darkwave"

I say wear what makes you feel comfy/attractive. Who cares where you buy it from, because not everyone has the time to make their own skinny jeans, or screen-print their own shirts.

@Kos45 i agree with wear what makes you feel comfy & attractive, but i do care about where 2 buy clothes, music or stuff and which shops should be supported in gothic as what it is... counterculture!!! hot topic and many other profit stores use gothic and punk as bait to attract teens in desperation to buy an identity. if you don't see or don't care about gothic as how truely is and don't want to support independent artists, musicians and clothing designers... then hot topic is perfect for you!!

@XxlunaticaxX Well, most of the shops aren't much different. They're in the fashion business. They've got to move a lot of product, and who is the targeted group? The group with the most disposable income. Most "real" punks or goths just make their own clothes and avoid that all together.

See, I used to have time. Now, not so much. I used to care. Now, who cares? If I can save some cash and time by buying from Hot topic, then fuckin' A. :p I know who -I- am. ;p I don't need to prove myself.

@XxlunaticaxX Also, most independent goth shops sell basically the same thing HT sells for 100-120 dollars (CAD) more. I don't really believe in spending over $50 on pants. So this is double-plus good for me.

So I hope you agree with me when I say : Yes, HT usually preys on the young & confused w/ lots of daddy's money. But if you know who you are, been in the "game" for long enough... It really doesn't matter. So long as you know you're supporting a corporation.

@Kos45 The "goth shops" are hard to find in america. but HT is cheap knock off of real "goth clothes" they are like walmart style.. made horribley..most of them. And they follow current trends.. insitead of what goth is. Mostof it is emo now anyway.

@ThisYoungLibertine "Real goth clothes" don't exist, man. we were wearing random clothes that we painted on, and fishnet shirts made from fetish shop "cat suits". There was no label, it was DIY.

Also, I've had some SC pants from hot topic, and they've lasted a long fucking time. Worth the 20 bucks if you ask me.

DIY is hard when you have no creative capabilities yourself which is why those who can do it right should be considered artists. HT is cheating by offering a short-cut to shallow people.
