Yeah you're right, typos are evil.

However vampires never technically die, they are infected by some sort of virus while they are still alive (this is even true in Twilight's screwed up mythology) and then mutate into a vampire. So while they are creepy, they are not dead and so it would seem to me that the killing curse would work just fine :)
