I thought moriarty was meaning to imply something anyway in the show, so good editing but I don't think its necessary. He calls john sherlock's pet xD
Hmm, too obvious, I think. Too blunt. M's more the kind to play mind games. It's just like him to make vague threats at Sherlock while letting him figure out what they mean.
Awe cute! I mean, I don't think it's romance between them per say, it's kinda like bromance you know? I like how you edited it though :) They are good friends and Sherlock does love him xx
First off, AMAZING! Very well edited.Secondly, I recently re-watched this episode and, I may just be looking for it, but if you really watch the scene, Moriarty does kinda look down and too the side at John right around here. It was the first time i noticed it, but I love seeing it here. Lol.
Firstly, so awesome. I literally watched it 4 times in a row. And the editing was done flawlessly. I would have thought it could have been an original take that had been edited out. From a creative pov, no, the look didn't need to be there; a director doesn't need to beat home a point. However, from a squeeing fangirl's pov....Oh hell yeah!
Even if that short moment when Jimmy looked at John wasn't in the actual episode, we all know he did that in his head. And it is quite clear, I (and Tumblr) think(s), that Moffat and Gatiss are trolling us all. Just look at the blink. It's the first time in the entire time he was talking to Jim that Sherlock blinks. Psychologist or not, the fandom community can derive the meaning of this quite easily..... I love this fandom. So much.
I think it was unnecessary for the actual show.... people were left to make the connection for themselves.... however, it was undeniably flawless editing.
No matter anyone's opinion on whether the extra look should be there or not, it is undeniable that this has been edited together seamlessly. Exceptional editing : ) I, for one, did get an additional heart pang watching this revision.
On a side note; to those who believe that it's 'fangirls' obsessing over these two and turning them into a pairing, you're partly right, but mostly wrong. It's STRONGLY hinted already, especially in the last scene. You interpret it the way you want - whether it's brotherly love, friendship or something more, it's no concern to you how others look at it.
@TransparentDarkness It.. isn't strongly implied at all, though. That's the problem with fangirls, if you write characters are certain way, they will jump on it like fucking dogs. There is no romance between them, there is a lot, but never in Sherlock Holmes, not a single iteration, and there ever been a romantic link between the characters of John and Sherlock. Ever.
@Ginger0308 (Replying on my other account) Okay, so: The scene where Irene and John meet. John says: I'm not actually gay. Irene replies: Well, I am. Look at the two of us.
Irene basically said 'We're both attracted/in love with Sherlock Holmes, but you're not gay, I'm not straight.' This is how we have interpreted it, and I'd like to see a different theory that trumps this one. And Martin said himself: It's a kind of love story. (See The One Show interview. Then tell me we're wrong.)
@Ginger0308 Actually, it IS strongly implied. You might want to do your research. The actors themselves believe that the two of them are in love, the writers even asked them ahead of time if they would be alright with the possibility of kissing one another, and they both agreed.
@specialkrj Oh my goodness. You have just made my freaking night, and could I possibly bother you for the article or web page where you read that the actors said that? ;-;
@faustian892 Do a google search for "sherlock is gayest story ever" and you'll find one of them. that's only one of the times he's said it, there's interviews with him where he repeatedly refers to them as soulmates and a love story and such. Can't find the one about gatiss asking if they'd be willing to kiss at the moment, unfortunately
@specialkrj Show us proof that they said that. I don't believe that for a second. I don't care what is being strongly implied. The source material never says they are in love. The writers are trying to keep the integrity of the original stories. This is brotherly love according to the original material by Sir Doyle. If he would have originally wrote them to be in love it would make sense, but he DIDN'T! I really can't stand when people misinterpret the author's intentions.
It was more powerful because he didn't look at John. And we all know Sherlock DOES have a heart - as much as it seems it, Sherlock isn't a fantasy show. Therefore, Sherlock is human and does have the capability to love. You kind of realise he actually feels emotion after the old lady blows up. He looks so depressed, but he solved the case, right? He makes out he doesn't care when he really does.
Oh you lot of fan girls with the pairings are irritating. I'm not homophobic or against it, I will be honest I've thought of pairings in other shows, but with the brilliance behind this one, I honestly can't. Take the show for it's brilliance rather then altering it for boring imagination. As for this scene, we pretty much knew he was talking about John. This little tweak hardly deserves credit for the obvious.
@TriggerMisaGamerGirl If YOU can't thought of pairings in this show it's your problem. The fact that it's brilliant doesn't mean that we can't search for couples (Also, John -Sherlock is Canon. Have you ever seen the other Sherlock Holmes? The one with Robert Downey and Jude Law? Or the TV serie with Jeremy Brett? Well, /I/ have. I also have all the books...and I repeat, it's Canon.) Don't say that "we fangirls" are irritating 'cause you are as well with this kind of non-constructive comment.Bye
@KiaraNava - Ugh got bored within the first sentence of the defense I was hoping would come from my comment. I skipped to the last and it was even more rubbish. But whatever, enjoy your thumbs up from the people who seem to think you're argument is, as you'd put it, constructive. But my god, what a bore. You should practice how to be a more interesting.. Debater or whatever you'd like to think of it.
@TriggerMisaGamerGirl You know what? I'm not interested in being interesting... Maybe that's what you want... Oh yeah... that's probably what you want... you want people be interested in you... and they don't...so you try to draw attention on you by writing bad things on other people videos. Nice thing. Oh well, I'm really sorry 4 you. Bye...
I don't think it was that necessary for him to look at John. I mean, we all know Moriarty is talking about John, and Sherlock knows it. It became quite clear with all the despair to take the bomb out of him and everything
I think it was already obvious when John tells Sherlock to run and he doesn't. If Sherlock was unattached he should have realised that there is no point in both of them dying there. On the other hand ...(please do not ask me to describe the emotion that drives you to stay in a potentially life-threatening situation) ;-)
Is it just me or does Moriarty has a seriously desperate moment and nearly starts crying? Why is he so desperate? He could easily kill Sherlock and thats it......
I just can't get over this weird moment - with or without looking at Johnny Boy.
@Freezx7 When Sherlock say's "I've been reliably informed I don't have one" Moriarty doesn't orignally look back at John but they've edited it so that he does look back to show that John is what he means by 'Sherlock's heart'
I also think this SO should have happened! But it would be more effective if the look towards John came after Moriarty says "we both know that's not quite true".
I liked it! I liked it so much that At frist I didn't notice the difference because to me this made total sense and was awesome! "Ciao...Sherlock Holmes" I love that part! It's so evil and fits Moriarty (of any era and media) to a T.
The real missing moment went something like this:
Moriarty:"Sooo... We've been standing here for almost two years now. Will you shoot already?"
John: "Your hand must be hurting like hell from holding a gun all this time."
Sherlock "Nah, I'm waiting for your phone to ring."
