If I am a famous celebrity or a famous politician, and my neighbor's kids admire me and say "I love you." I will say I love you back. It is matter of been polite. Since you admit is situation dependent, let me tell you Ma is not been freaky here. I think Sarkozy and Putin also did similar things.
What if Senator Obama visited a school and students showed admiralty and affection to him? No one will even talk about this here in the US. Why are Taiwanese so sensitive with all these useless things? It shows the political immaturity and the misleading effects of the Taiwanese media which will further marginalize the position of Taiwan which is already declining in the international environment today. Perhaps I am wondering if it is the way that Taiwanese choose their politics to be.
