I dunno how many people are in his stream/chat, but let me tell you, from running/moderating similar chats for equally geeky things, I'm well aware of the fanboyism and cronyism that goes on there. To me, Day9 is just a kid, it's understandable he's letting himself get carried away with it - I've seen it many times before.

He should create a separate channel or get back to it.

Regarding the basis of your theory with the split between "reality" and "emotions", if you've never read them, you might want to read Paul Watzlawick's books, as they explain very well those concepts from Constructivism.

Easy and funny books to start are "The situation is hopeless but not serious - The pursuit of unhappiness" and "Ultra-Solutions: How to Fail Most Successfully ", then go on with "How real is real?", and then "Munchhausen's Pigtail"?

I think you should enjoy them. :)
