@akhilsachi097 when shaving someones head for the first time you never know what kind of scars, skin problems, moles or bumps and indentations they have.  so you should never shave directly from long hair unless you make a very thorough inspection of the scalp. but i find the blade does not glide well with the long hair. you need to make more strokes and that could irritate the skin

I noticed you were shaving against the grain on top. Doesn't that cause discomfort and ingrown hair bumps ? I shave my head to hide the bald spot ( LOL ) but I never shave against the grain.
