What I find hilarious is the typical mentality of people especially these protesters. They are obviously bating the police. Getting extremely close to the police and not wanting to move away until shoved. Then when shoved someone says, "Oh I saw that you are being overly physical and you know it. You're too pushy. This is way too rough." They are basically trying to cause the police to slip up and finally get too peeved. Those doing this bs know it and deserve the shoving when they dont listen.

Can anyone tell me: When did the police read the Riot Act? Is this a 'reasonable use of force'? Let's assume 100 protesters were rabble rousers and participated in the destruction of property (assuming none of them were agent provocateurs), the riot gear, the assaulting of peaceful protesters, the coralling of innocent bystanders, and the detention of 1000's of people and the arrest of 700: the police can justify this abuse of their powers. These protests are the direct RESULT of the real issues getting ignored by the majority of people who are gaining momentum in creating critical mass WORLDWIDE. @guitarguy1381 to China, yes. To Myanmar, I'm not crazy. What is going on here is not a supression of civil liberties. It's a few idiot college kids trying to get footage for their youtube channels and a few thugs burning cop cars. I wasn't literally telling the guy to go to those places. Just pointing out what a real police state is. And clean up your language. You're not impressing anyone.

The people burning cop cars would be how many people do you think? 3? maybe 5? How many people were protesting? I guess 25,000+
How many people smashed windows and things maybe up to a couple dozen, out of the 25,000+ protesters.
Even the black bloc was only 200 out of the 25,000+ protesters.
Yet over 900 people were thrown in a temporary jail, the vast majority have been released without charges. They let the black bloc burn cop cars yet harass the peaceful protesters

@whiskers123 my point is the cops are not machines. They are human. They are being threatened with violence for doing their job and they don't know who will be violent. If people want to protest, great. They should. But not right in the faces of scared people with riot gear. That's stupid. Of the three groups of people involved here the police are the last to blame for this. #1: the G20 for insisting on meeting in large centers to provoke these. How about meeting on a military base?

Why would the police be afraid of peaceful protesters? If they are they should not be police officers, could you imagine how cowardly they would be on the street when they are alone and a real crime is committed? That officer would be useless.

@whiskers123 the whole point is that they don't know who is peaceful. Would you describe a person who yells in your face peaceful? If someone did that to me on the street, I would have concerns about my safety. There is a difference between being scared and being brave. These cops are brave knowing that they will be trashed in the media for doing a job they've been ordered to do. They are brave for maintaining safety in a country that appreciates them less and less.

@whiskers123 i have. The CBC followed a team of police and the one woman who was the focus of the piece was truly worried about her safety. The reports they were getting were inaccurate as to which protesters (violent vs. non) were heading their way.
This whole thing is one big 'wag the dog' anyhow. The media focuses on the clash with the cops instead of discussing the g20 agenda. I think this is why they meet in large cities instead of remote locations or military bases.
